Are there any Christians who have given up TV, Sports, and Entertainment with whom I can fellowship?

How many years has it been since you gave up worldly entertainment?

I think we both know the answer to that, and if someone has to ask well then they need prayers. Give God the glory.

Fruit is a excellent way to see how mature our walk is, we need to find our gift and be producing fruit on a regular basis,

Okay, cool. Just pointing out that that verse can't apply to entertainment. The passage about the Fruit of the Spirit vs. the Lusts of the Flesh would be a better one. Sadly, many Christians don't realize they will never be able to justify to Jesus why they supported a production company that puts out modern day sorcery no matter how good their other fruit looks.

Peace to you.

"fruit" means TRUTH/ TRUE TEACHING..... not looks, emotions, or feelings.
(that can be tested, that is) Other, different 'fruit' in other places as written.

Finding people with common interests gets difficult when you decide to deny the things of this world. Are there any others of you out there?

I gave up these things three years ago. How about you? What was your journey away from these things like?

This post is not meant to start a debate with those who enjoy these things, but rather to find those who don't for fellowship. Please don't fill up the thread with your opinion about entertainment.

I haven't given them all up completely......
I will still watch a movie that is not a Christian movie with my family but I have greatly decreased
my dependence on worldly entertainment by attempting to work online a great deal.

I personally have found it productive to use quotations from near death experience accounts like "new wine" and the Scriptures like "old wine" and I do find that I have found a lot of encouraging information for non-believers in NDE accounts like that of former Atheist Howard Storm.

What he was shown about life on earth by the year 2185 I think gives hope to many people who tend to have a very bleak view of the next century or two.

I cut the chord years ago and control my media consumption. I had access to Netflix in the past and watched some historical programs. They have plenty. But I haven't seen the current shows at all.

Business occupies most of my time and I don't have time for sports. But I still enjoy golf, sailing, equestrian (jumping and dressage), and horse racing major events.

I listen to classical music and opera. I like ballet and theater too. But avoid mainstream music due to the lyrics and subliminal messages that I don't want rolling through my head.

I still enjoy a good travel program on BBC or an episode of Poirot or Miss Marple. I redirected my attention to reading and complete over 170 books each year. My favorite genres are non-fiction and classics. Self-improvement has been a constant. The extra time has allowed me to learn photography, digital entrepreneurship, and natural homemaking.

This year I'm learning to sew, starting fashion illustration, and studying French.

I haven't given up ALL media but I have given up a vast majority. I found the deeper I went in my relationship with Christ, the less interesting and appealing those things are for me!

I don't listen to any secular music, watch very little tv (occaisionally food shows, a fishing show, and a dancing show "on demand"), use NO social media, and watch very few movies a year (Maybe 3?) and almost exclusively Christian movies. I have no desire to go to a movie theater. I also don't read the newspaper or non-Christian magazines. I also do not play any video or virtual games on any platform or device. I haven't stopped doing these things because I think everyone must or should, but because I feel they were impeding my personal Christian walk and were vehicles of sin for me personally!

I read a LOT of books, care for my home and children, and play non-gambling card games with my family.

So, while I may not fit entirely with your total abstinence, I believe we could encourage one another. :)
