I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place. But how do I know what denomination I am?
What denomination is your pastor, if you do not know then you may just be non-denominational. Get to know your pastor, where did he go to school? That should give you a good ideal of what he believes.

It's just a Bible-believing church.
Then it is apparently what is called a non-denominational church.

The term Evangelical, by the way, merely describes a certain profile of belief and/or worship style that is applicable to a wide range of denominations. It doesn't refer to a particular denomination like Lutheran, Catholic, Baptist, etc.

As "disciple Clint" noted in his post above, non-denominational churches may still have definite statements of belief, just as denominational churches do, while they nevertheless remain unaffiliated with any larger body. Most of the time, their creeds or statements of belief are similar to those of the Baptist churches. And their pastors may be affiliated with some denomination, although the church they are pastoring is not.

If you attend a community (non-denominational) church or a home church then you may not be part of a world-wide denomination ... or the group you are in may be lead by someone who is teaching along the lines of an existing denomination and you may simply be choosing which of the beliefs to accept.

Most/many non-denominational churches are in fact denominational in their leadership in that the Pastor and a few other leaders are required by leadership to hold to certain beliefs even though the rest of the congregation is very divided on their views of what the Bible says and how the Gospel is impacted by changing various points of belief.

It is hard to find a church these days that will claim they are not a Bible-believing church.

I would not want to belong to a "not the Bible, rather something-else" church.

It's just a Bible-believing church.

Which would describe every church--Catholic, Orthodox, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Baptist, etc. Nobody has a monopoly on "Bible-believing", because all Christians accept the authority of Holy Scripture.

It is always possible that your church is "non-denominational", which simply means it is an independent congregation that isn't part of a larger ecclesiastical structure. But, contrary to what it may seem, non-denominational churches still are denominations, they are single-congregation denominations.

I believe the term for that is just Evangelical.

Evangelical means different things depending on time, location, and context. The modern [American] Evangelical movement, i.e. Neo-Evangelicalism, arose in the early-mid 20th century, to about the 1930's and 40's. Antecedents to Neo-Evangelicalism include the evangelistic work of men such as Billy Sunday (1920's), as well as 19th century Revivalism and Pietism.

The term "Evangelical", historically, was used first to describe the Lutheran movement. The term "Lutheran" was an exonym, originating as a slur which was eventually adopted anyway. Even today the German word "Evangelisch" ("Evangelical") simply means "Protestant", to refer to modern American-style Evangelicals the Germans use an English-loan word, "Evangelikal". Hence why, throughout the world, national and regional Lutheran bodies often have "Evangelical" in their name.

So, at least on that point, the Lutherans are the OG Evangelicals. It's just that what we mean by "Evangelical" isn't the same thing as modern American-style Evangelicalism.

true in that one sense -- that they have allegiance to no "other" denomination - but as it turns out many community non-denom churches are in fact baptist. Some Baptists have suspected that the name "Baptist" has a bad connotation for some members in the local community so they create a "Community" church that is in fact "Baptist".

A lot of denominations will have some type of statement of faith where they explain what they believe and from where they adduce these beliefs.

Reading those statements of faith may be a game-changing experience for you. I encourage you to do it if you're so inclined.
