Don't you realize that your statement is totally irrelevant? He comes back as a thief/rapture because the unsaved don't anticipate his coming and thus are taken by surprise (like a thief). The saved however anticipate Jesus' coming; are ready and are anticipating his return. The pertinent question is WHEN does this "rapture" occur. Jesus stated just before Armageddon - not before the tribulation as you claim.
Isn't that what I said in the first place? That the unsaved will be taken by surprise, but the converted will anticipate His coming and will be prepared for it?
Actually I don't care about when the Rapture will occur. I won't be in it. I have only a few years of life left and after that I will be in Paradise anyway. So that side of the debate is irrelevant to me.

It may be irrelevant to you but do you deny that Jesus stated he returns as a thief right before Armageddon or before the tribulation? You must be able to defend your view even it you think it is personally not applicable to you.

Isaiah 46:9-10 = Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.

Revelation 22:13 = I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

If God knows the future, then God knows every single sin that we are going to do from the day we are born to the day we die. Therefore, Jesus’ death on the cross is payment for our past, present and future sins.

How clean are we after Jesus paid for our sins?

It is written in the bible that we are like Jesus in this world.

1 John 4:17 = This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus.

This means that if you are born again, your identity is in Christ.

If Jesus is sinless, so am I

If Jesus is righteous, so am I

If Jesus is holy, so am I

If Jesus is seated on God’s right hand, so am I

If Jesus is blessed, so am I

If Jesus has favour with the Father, so am I

Once you believed that ALL your sins have been washed away, you should not have consciousness of sin.

Hebrews 10:2 = For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

And the devil will no power over you. And you will be able to live a life that Christ paid with his life for you to have.

You still need to repent of the sins that you are committing on a daily basis. The sacrifice of the Son of God does not cover willful, unrepentant sin:

Hebrews 10:26-31

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

I don't think this means God throws you out when you mess up. I think God gives a lot of grace and time to repent, but He put this warning in the scripture for a reason.

In the bible, there is a verse that says whoever is in Christ, there will no longer be condemnation.

Romans 8:1 = Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

I have come to this conclusion that many Christians DO NOT believe that God has removed ALL their sins. They only believe that God removed the sins that they did before becoming a Christian. And they have to follow the law and try to live a sinless life (or try to sin less) to please God.

When they try to follow the law to please God, they are essentially arming the devil with a weapon. And whenever they break a law, the devil will use the law to condemn them. In Colossians 2:14-15, it says God disarmed the devil by Jesus’ death on the cross.

Colossians 2:14-15 = When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us ALL our sins, having cancelled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

How did God disarm the devil?

It is written in Ezekiel 18:20 “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.”

When Jesus died on the cross, he took our sins and paid the penalty on our behalf.

2 Corinthians 5:21 = God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Having paid fully for our sins, Jesus magnified and fulfilled the law. Since Jesus has fully paid for our debts (sins), we are no longer slaves under the law.

Imagine a man who purchase a house from HDB. Because he does not have money, therefore he has to take a loan from the bank. Every month, he has to pay the bank every month until the loan + interest is 100% cleared. Then one day, his father wanted to clear the loan for his son and paid everything that the man owes to the bank. Once the loan has been fully paid, the man is no longer under debt to the bank. When the next month come, even if the man receive a letter from the bank for loan payment. He can ignore the letter and penalty for non-payment because he knows the house have already been fully paid.

How do we know that Jesus has paid for my past, present and future sins?

Hebrews 9:26 & 28 says that Jesus appeared ONCE to do away with sin.

Hebrews 9:26 = Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Hebrews 9:28 = so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

God created time. Therefore, God is outside time. Most of the prophesies in the bible, God wrote them thousands of years in advance. It is written in the bible that God knows the end from the beginning.

Isaiah 46:9-10 = Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.

And the devil will no power over you. And you will be able to live a life that Christ paid with his life for you to have.
Christians should not feel condemned. Theirs is a new way of being human. The old disobedient way is history.

For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. (Rom 1:21-23)

That was the ancient world, the pagan world, and also the Jewish world before Christ. Even among God’s faithful, idol worship was more the rule than the exception. They revered not the Creator but the creature. Images of kings, animals, and man-made deities lived rent-free in their heads. The creature was who exercised power over them, not the Creator.

Christians do not worship idols. They worship God. They are not sinners (1 Jn 1:7). They may still sin, of course (1 Jn 1:8), but they are not sinners. Christ has absolved them of the ways of their forbears.

You still need to repent of the sins that you are committing on a daily basis. The sacrifice of the Son of God does not cover willful, unrepentant sin:

For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The Lord will judge His people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

I don't think this means God throws you out when you mess up. I think God gives a lot of grace and time to repent, but He put this warning in the scripture for a reason.

If we need to repent of our sins in order to be saved, then it is a work gospel and not a gospel of grace. I believe that christian even after being saved will still sin because we are still in our vile and sinful body. However by ONE sacrifice made by Jesus Christ, all sins (past, present, future sins) were washed away. This is written in Hebrews 9:26.

Hebrews 9:26 = Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Nothing we do can remove sin. It is only the blood of Jesus that can remove sin. If repentance can save us, then judas iscariot should have been saved. After he betrayed Jesus, he repented more than everyone by returning the silver coins and hanged himself. But Jesus clearly said that in Mark 14:21 that it is better that judas iscariot is never born. Implying that judas iscariot will be eternally condemn.

Mark 14:21 = The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.

Repentance only comes with the consciousness of sins. If you are not conscious of sin, then how are you going to catching yourself committing sins? What did the bible say about consciousness of sins? It says that in the past, the Jews offer imperfect sin offering (goats and sheeps) which can never wash their sins away. Therefore, they have to do it at least every year or every time they sinned. But the blood of Jesus is able to wash away all sins. Since all sins have been washed away, we should no longer be sin conscious. If you are still sin conscious, you are implying that Jesus did not wash away all your sins (indirectly saying that Jesus did not do a good job). By doing so, you have not put your faith in Jesus alone. We are told to fight the good fight of faith.

Hebrews 10:1-4 For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

I think their is a lot of confusion between condemnation and conviction. Most people should be convicted, rather than getting condemned. People become condemned when they do, as you said, fall short to the glory of God. I agree that we shouldn't allow the devil in by giving into condemning thoughts.

I do think, however, that many people use "not to become condemned" as an excuse to sin. Aa sinners, we are at constant war with the flesh. We want to please the needs of the flesh. People tend to forget this, so they sin and then justify their sin. This is a big problem. If we are justifying our sin, then we are allowing the devil to trick us into thinking we are forgiven without asking for forgiveness. Remember, Jesus said we are forgiven as we forgive others. But if we don't feel like we need forgiveness for a specific sin because we feel justified in it, then does God forgive?

What we need are spiritually mature people who are aware that they sin, so when they fall short they don't become condemned about it. But they are mature enough to understand that following the Lamb (Jesus) wherever He goes by listening to His voice and obeying his commands, is the way that Jesus wants us to live. His commands are not burdensome (1 John 5:2-4); they are spirit and they are life (John 6:63)!

In peace

Yes. Amen. I agree fully with what you said. Indeed you are a matured Christian to understood this principle.

Unfortunate that I have not yet memorized the scriptures to call to verses but I trust your advance knowledge of Bible will help you find reference.

Christ has forgiven us, and we don't have to stand condemned, true. I think we are so used to prideful guilt, we lack belief in forgiveness.

I find your teaching however to be dangerous, based on the fact that the abundance of lukewarm Christians will validate their less than pleasing to Jesus lifestyle choices. Reference Revelations, the messages of Jesus to the churches, noting that their behaviors and faith and love (or lack thereof) were called to mention.

Notice also 2nd Peter where Peter addresses the difficulties of understanding the many teachings of Paul, how many will wrest with his doctrines (to their own destruction). I say this such that we really tread carefully when adjusting belief around or based on the messages of Paul.

Note also Paul himself in other letters call our certain fleshly behaviors which should not be practiced. If you have complete understanding of the Law of the Jews you will realise that the "fruit of the flesh" are pretty much simple act of lawlessness (sin) in summary. Call also to mind that Paul's audience were gentile races who would now need to abstain from common (normal) acts of their ppl to take on a "law" ... Or code of conduct. And this was the continuation of the faith (after belief and adoption) ... Call to mind the message of dying daily... Killing the flesh. The Reformation of the mind. All require effort on the part of the believer post conversion. We have to check ourselves constantly and submit to Godly behaviour. Acts such as prayer and fellowship requires choice and therefore sacrifice.

I'd just simply say to really add clarification to all doctrines bearing in mind that any one who believes what you say has placed their life blood on you if you are incorrect. Really pray for doctrine, pray and pray over them. Allow the spirit to guide these stances and not just scriptural research and contemplation.

I think Revelation 14 has a pearl in it for this topic... But I forgot which line. ( it is Revelation 14:12)

Hebrews 10:2 = For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

And the devil will no power over you. And you will be able to live a life that Christ paid with his life for you to have.

Romans 8:1 = Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

This verse is written to true born again christians. For non-christians, it is indeed a dangerous statement.

Let me make some points

1) Non-christians sin and some of them enjoyed it and stayed in sin. They are operating in the flesh because they do not have the Holy Spirit.
2) True born again christians also sin. Because they are born again christian, they have the Holy Spirit. They can choose to operate either in the flesh or in the Spirit.
3) True born again christians do not want to sin. Because they have the Holy Spirit (Restrainer) dwelling in them which causes them to move away from sin.
4) Using condemation or punishment or making christian feel bad or guilty does not prevent them from sinning. If it worked, the Jews would not have sinned knowing that breaking the law will bring God's curses and punishment.
5) If a christian is being condemn constantly, he will feel dirty/unworthy/unclean/dare not approach God/will not want go church/self-punishing/depressed. Do you think such a christian will even come to church to repent and stand up again to serve God and do what is right? I think he will backslide for quite some time until he get past his feeling of condemnation.

Remember this
2 Timonthy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

Therefore if God writes that "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus", it is therefore no condemnation for every true born again christian. Are you to greater than God's word and say otherwise?

Romans 8:1 = Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

This verse is written to true born again christians. For non-christians, it is indeed a dangerous statement.
