What did Jesus say in Matthew thru John, The Gospels ?

When He Said WHO He Prayed for, and WHO He did NOT pray for ?
whose talking about praying? you're going to have to be less cryptic and just say what it is you want to say. we have far digressed the op so maybe it's best to just to leave this for another thread.

I came across Crack Your Bible, a YouTube channel and was wondering if anyone has thoughts regarding her videos
I’m a baby Christian so I don’t know if I should watch.

If you step back from the detail and look at the generality.
which applies to all of these who claim that somehow "the church apostasized early on... that it has got it wrong for 1500 or 2000 years , and now ony WE have the answer, and this is what it all means really." Its the same rallying cry not just in your video, but of JWs, mormons, and reformation too..

It begs the question that when our Lord said
" Upon this rock I build my church, and the GATES OF HELL WILL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST IT" - he is clearly saying he wont let it go off the rails!!
So all those who claim it has gone of the rails must doubt our Lords power to do what he says he will do. So not an all powerful God then.

Trouble is the same line of reasoning that tells you not to touch that channel - will leave you with a difficult dilemma -something much more profound.

And this will a problem for you as it is for all who follow that reasoning.

If what I said was true, then even the reformation must have got it wrong.

And if you go back to the earliest church ( as a new christian I doubt if you have read letters between the first christians) take ignatius to Smyrneans (these were people taught by John the apostle) - you see a liturgical sacramental church, that handed the faith down by paradosis "tradition" (there was no new testament for centuries yet!) with a eucharist of the real body and blood, valid only if performed by succession bishops appointed in line with authority at Rome. Iraneus says so early in the life of the chruch. Which is exactly what RC still preaches..... In fact many who study the early church, see the continuity, across the millenia, see the falasy that is sola scriptura and end up coming back to ROme. Many theologians, ministers of all faith groups accept the reality that Jesus kept his promise. The gates of hell did not prevail...

Study the writings of the early church fathers.Who taught long before there was a bible, Ignatirus, Iraneus, justin martyr, clement and see the picture they paint, of the church with authoritative doctrine handed down called "tradition". Then try to answer the question: if the bible itself was enough by itself, why do thousands of groups post reformation interpret it in opposing ways?

You end up with the question that divides christians. "where is authority"
Paul says "hold true to tradition (ie faith handed down) we taught you by word of mouth and letter "
The new testament says "the foundation of truth is the church" . Because Jesus gave to the apostles together and Peter alone, (and their successors) the power to "bind and loose" which in Jewish speak means "give definitive interpretation on doctrine". That was the power used by the councils of 300-400 AD that formally decided the canon (new testament) and it is the only reason we can trust the new testament - now look what those fathers believed :Anasthasius is vociferous on the intercession of saints and Mary. Augustine lists the popes from the first as authority against donatism. And so on..

Your questions starts with "what can I trust".

It inevitably goes to "where is authority" , the scriptural references that tell you, and the faith of the early fathers as the model.

So many who ask that, end up on the slippery slope back to rome.
As cardinal newman says... "To be deep in history is to cease to be protestant"
Asking your type of question about one sects view, started the journey of how I ended up coming back to Rome. It took years to get there...but it strated with a question just like yours.

I'd say avoid her. Watch the Parable of the Vineyard if you have time. He's a great youtuber!

Rachael Stephens (of the Crack Your Bible Channel) believes that speaking in tongues is not a unique gift and it something every believer should have (Which runs contrary to 1 Corinthians 12). Tongue speaking today is anything but biblical these days and you can see the confusion that is associated with it. I would recommend watching the video called: "Kundalini Warning" by Andrew Strom (on YouTube) so as to recognize the dangers of false spirits invading the church today. Today, the shaking of the heads (in a blurry uncontrollable fashion), and the barking like animals and screaming on the ground is not of God. The unusual quick snap of the head seen at certain Pentecostal churches is the same quick head snaps we see in Eastern religions when they are possessed by certain spirits.

She also does not believe in the Pre-Trib Rapture, either (Which means that one is surely guaranteed to go through the Tribulation if they don't believe Jesus will come at any hour or day that they know not).

Also, she does not carry convey herself in a way that is loving and humble or Christian - IMO. She speaks like she is still an immature teenager like from the movie Clueless or something (You can check out the trailer here to see what I am talking about). I say this not to wound her, but I say this in love for her so as to re-examine her life in what it means to follow Jesus. Her behavior is worldly in my view and not one of being a genuine Christian. At least, that is my honest opinion of her.

Side Note:

Please keep in mind I am not promoting the movie Clueless or suggesting that you watch this film. I am actually against watching secular movies in their entirety or to watch them so as to gain any kind of pleasure from them. I believe Christians will in time learn to put away secular movie watching and secular book reading and music, etc. out of their love and devotion to Christ. If you are looking for a good alternative of some Christian films to watch, I would recommend to check out the following thread.

CF Thread - What Christian Movies Do You Find To Be The Most Rewatchable?

That is traditional theology speaking and of course confounding Christianity to please the Adversary. This is what happens when the Gospel of the Kingdom is re;placed by another. Authority by Jesus' Gospel of the Kingdom was God's kingdom over the world man has created in our own image. God's government over the governments of man. God's will over the will of man. Remove His Gospel as the true Gospel and you have breathing room for man's governments to once again control Christianity.

You mean they aren't suddenly speaking in the tongues of the other tribes of the House of Israel and the other Mediterranean nations?

Hi Bipolargirl, (digging your name :D )

I've heard and seen the messages in "Crack Your Bible". I think, she means well. I still think a few of her UTube sessions may be too out there, but, we don't know her heart....God does. As a new Believer, and for myself, we ought to question everyone's teachings and that it reflects God's Word. That said, you and I are to deeply read & study God's Scripture and in asking The Holy Spirit for guiding, counseling, to understand His Word for our lives. It's like any other study/teaching that we may come about in this world, accept what is true and what is not aligned with God's Word, disregard it. But, study the Word of God and in His presence. Read 1 Timothy 4 to reflect on world and christian teachings; 1 Peter 3:15 instructs us to prepare ourselves and always give an answered; 2 Timothy 4:2; and the advice given by Luke in Acts 17:11 to compare and reflect every teaching (christian and even those non-saved) to God's Holy Scriptures. There's always something to learn from a lot of Christians and none-followers, just search Scripture to reflect God's Light and Ministry. Evolution-sciences tend to grab hold and lie to all humans, even the elect, Matthew 24:24. Deceptiveness is key to today's society and reaching to the final judgement day of YAHWEH! AMEN! As a baby Christian, spend a lot of your Bible readings and studies in God's presence inviting The Holy Spirit in your study sessions and prayer sessions, too, of course :)

God's Peace and blessings to You.

Hard to say.. always make sure ..I DO..if what is being said is written. I use to watch this one guy.. MAN you and to REALLY search.. on the outside.. it was AWESOME stuff.. loved it.. its like once you got in..then you see. Well what he NEVER talked about was what he really believed.. and the TRUTH always comes out.. to him.. you will NEVER know if your saved... ever. And from Acts on.. yeah.. was quoted as NOT truth.. just one example.

If one is not grounded in the WORD OF GOD...you can get deceived. See thousands of years go.. what was said about ANYONE coming up and preaching "who are you? Who knows you? How long have you walked in what you preach/teach" Then they would all go pray for a long time. <we can see the great wisdom in that. NOW we do NOT do this at all.

ME.. it has to be in the word.. and Jesus came in the flesh born by the virgin Mary. Died on the Cross for the worlds sins. Was buried...rose the 3rd day. Is seated at the right hand of the Father and is the only way to the Father. I believe in ALL the gifts. I believe if you ask the Father for the holy Spirit HE will give it as Christ said in Luke. THAT being said.. some dont. SO? PRAISE GOD! JESUS IS YOUR LORD! You are family.... do you see?

I Me have found.. my Father when He talks.. He always (song playing.. YES "Jeremy Camp..Christ in ME") uses peace.. what are fruits of the spirit? He will uplift help encourage bring hope.. ALWAYS points to Christ and never does man ever take the glory or praise or thinks.. JESUS your friend.. you best friend.. you savior your GOD is IN YOU! He IS SO REAL! More real then your parents.. your best friend.. boy friend girl friend.. HE IS REAL! And...I can not say this strong enough.. HE LOVES YOU SO MUCH.. and NEVER condemns you.. NEVER makes you feel guilty.. EVER! No matter what you do.. ALWAYS run to Him His arms are ALWAYS ALWAYS open to you... HE IS IN YOU! HE IS FOR YOU...

HAHA wow made myself happy..

If she did she would be able to clearly see that the Roman Catholic Church doesn't follow them. You Roman Catholics were the first to promote sola scripture, just in a different form. Instead of every man interpreting the Bible for himself you put one man in charge interpreting it for the entire church. Look at the fathers and read it clear, scripture is to be interpreted by the holy spirit through the entire unity of the Church's bishops within Church councils, not by any one person.

Just because a Cessationist makes an uninformed statement that the Day of Pentecost was "unique" doesn't mean that was true. We "believe" and are still being "called."

Acts 2:38-39
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Mark 16:16-18

16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

1. I'm not a fan of YouTube generally. It makes it harder to do what Acts of the Apostles 17:11 describes. If you read a book, you can scribble in the margins, or stop reading and check your Bible. That's harder with YouTube.

2. Who is Rachel N. Stephens, exactly? What are her qualifications to teach the Bible?

I watched one video, and it was mostly just her flipping her hair. She didn't actually say anything much. I watched another video which was about the Hebrew/Septuagint difference in Isaiah 61:1, quoted in Luke 4:18 ("the opening of the prison to those who are bound" vs "recovery of sight to the blind"). There she was misinformed (the evidence of the Dead Sea Scrolls contradicted what she was saying). She also took way too long to get to the point.

Quite frankly, you're better off watching videos from John Piper (who is a highly respected pastor) and other knowledgeable people.

A myth repeated so often it has gained the status of fact.
Rule for life: study before criticise.
And study the early church. See what it really was.
Jesus did not say " read this or write this"
He said " do this and teach this"

Historic fact. The faith was handed down " paradosis" by apostolic succession -( paradosis - the word later translated as tradition, which has a misleading colloquial use)

Scripture only came later, by the authority of the church.

As for the myth about sola scriptura, the spirit interpreting for you: then why do you all disagree what it means? Literally thousands of permutations of mutually exclusive belief sets, and more created all the time. Protestants don't agree on any of the basics shows the #fail of your statement.
