Thanks for taking the time to respond. I don't think that qualifies, as it deals with the time of the Tribulation, not the Kingdom. I agree that Israel will be ascendant during the Kingdom, there are references to that in Isaiah, I think. I just couldn't remember any NT mentions of this fact, and wondered if you knew of any.

God bless;
Michael

I'll keep it in mind when I am in the scriptures. Implication is nice but direct mention is much better.

Hello friends;
I am loosely dispensationalist, but I am not all that well informed on the specifics of the system. I have been struggling to reconcile what Jesus says in Matthew 5:19 with Paul's teachings and the Jerusalem council's decision in Acts 15. How do we understand Jesus' statement about keeping and teaching the Law in a dispensationalist framework?

Hi and this what I see in Matt 5:19 !!

This verse is controlled by 4 verb in the SUBJUCTIVE MOOD of possibility of can happen OR will not happen !

There are 2 verbs SHALL BE CALLED / KALEO are in the Greek FUTURE TENSE and they will be called in the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN and also called the MILLENNIAL KINGDOM and the 1000 reign of Christ !!

For what it's worth, the following article was instrumental in opening my eyes to Acts 15, the transition, and dispensationalism in general: The Great Hinge | doctrine.org

Grace and peace to you! Please feel free to ask more questions! :)
Thank you so much for this site. I have greatly enjoyed this

Hello friends;

Much of Matthew thru John take place before Christ died. Their setting is the Law economy.

Hebrews 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

This is readily apparant, for example, in Matthew 8:1-4. What He instructs that Leper He healed to do after He healed him, is right out of Leviticus 14's Law of the Leper.

As for Matthew 5:19, that too is the Law...

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Note what he meant about being called the least...

5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

In other words, this...

Matthew 23:1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. 23:5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 23:6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 23:7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

Returning back to Matthew 5, He then added the following to what He was talking about...

5:21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. 5:23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 5:24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

As you'll learn from Leviticus 14, His mention of a gift and an altar refers to an animal sacrifice, although in this case, it is an offering for sin, Leviticus 4.

And what He is saying there is that the guy first needs to get right with his fellow Israelite, there, before offering his animal sacrifice, or he risks ending up in danger of hell fire.

By the way, whenever you see them refer to one another as brethren, they are sometimes referring to one another as fellow Israelites, and not necessarily as people who are right with God.

You see this in the following, for example,, where it is clear the people addressing Peter - fellow Israelites - are not yet right with God, realize that the next phase is Christ's rising to come and make His enemies His footstool...

Acts 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, 2:35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool. 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call. 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

Exactly why Stephen saw Him standing, in the following...

Acts 7:51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. 7:52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: 7:53 Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it. 7:54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

Israel was now headed for His wrath.

Isaiah 3:13 The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people. 3:14 The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses. 3:15 What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

But...God had a Mystery He first needed to unfold, concerning a New, Heavenly Creature, the Body of Christ, comprised out of both formerly lost Jews and Gentiles this side of Israel's fall at the end of Acts 7...

Romans 9:22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 9:23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 9:24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. 11:28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. 11:30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: 11:31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. 11:32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

Anyway, hope that provides some food for thought.

Acts 17: 11, 12.

Does anyone else think that when Paul said "bring the Parchments" [2nd Tim 4:13] that he then added Hebrews to the other 12? I just kinda believe Paul wrote it and he wrote it last?

I'm no expert on the subject, but I think we can't know for sure who wrote it or when (except that it appears the temple was still standing when it was written).
