What do you think the Mark of the Beast is?? And what is sin about it?

Again, I offer you this one precious clue...you cannot go literal. Jesus shows us this when He points out the representations of the stars and the candlesticks in the introduction.

An actual precious clue is knowing the difference between what's literal and what is symbolic. The buying and selling in Rev 13 is literal and has to do with commerce.

The beast does not stop people from buying and selling

Rev 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Rev 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

The beast does not stop people from buying and selling, he, leaves them with the mark if the do buy and sell.
Backwards - the mark is required to be accepted by a person, before they are allowed to buy or sell.

This has been being set up for decades or century or more.

??

So then we can insert that anywhere we feel like it.

So then everywhere it says that the beast does do that -- we just insert "not" in front of it??

So then we "join the beast" in that "not sell" ??

That looks like a lot of creative writing.
You are obviously not trying to follow what I have explained. True Christians do not receive the mark of the beast...true Christians buy but do not sell their faith (and again that is a manner of speaking).

I know you may be quite learned, but such folks still offer an explanation for their "well grounded" and "hard and fast" beliefs...please do so.
BTW, I did come upon my interpretation independent of any human help and at that time compared it to our church interpretation and almost identical. It is not a new interpretation it is ages old and passed down...how about your interpretation? how did you come upon it?

Revelation is basically a summary of the faith.

??
There need be no description of some buying and selling faith for it to be so,

??

So then we can insert that anywhere we feel like it.

As Christians we only buy from Christ that pure gold He speaks of here in Revelation and we do not sell it, must not sell

So then we "join the beast" in that "not sell" ??

That looks like a lot of creative writing.

You are obviously not trying to follow what I have explained.

I was just trying to point out where the reader might have questions.

in Christ,

Bob

It is error to "interpret" literal things. You said, "The beast does not stop people from buying and selling" and that was wrong. You claim Christians buy their faith. That's wrong. Time to rethink everything you believe about Revelation etc.

True Christians buy their faith? Unbelievable.
Again, this is a manner of speaking or as Proverbs puts it one of the "sayings of the wise"...same thing. Jesus, all-wise, says...I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich (Revelation 3:18) I have repeatedly tried to make myself clear on this point, but it escapes you. Do you understand what He is saying there...tie it in with Psalms and Proverbs.

Who said Revelation is literal? Where is this written. Scripture is rich in symbolism.

BTW, I knew this to be an almost fruitless endeavor, but God does work through His Word and in His own time...none of you really agree and it all appears to be a big guessing game on your parts. The guesses are from your own minds, not Scripture.
Enough on my part.

What escapes me is where the word faith is found in that passage. You say Christians buy their faith...where is that in the bible?

Who said Revelation is literal?

Most understand that Rev has symbolic and literal language. Making the symbolic literal, or the literal symbolic is a problem. Only those with the mark being able to buy and sell is clearly literal and is not Christians able to buy faith...that clealy does not fit anywhere in scripture let alone in the GT passage of Rev 13.
