that is not what caught Jacob's attention..
Genesis 28:17
17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

How can a ladder be the gate of heaven? Maybe the angels descending and ascending gave it away. Maybe Jacob saw the reconciliation process in this vision.

It is a significant place for sure... 'the place' is 'the place' of Genesis 22:3,9,14... the place that Abraham offered Isaac.

Genesis 28:16-17 KJV
(16) And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.
(17) And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

He called the place Bethel... the House of God... and would become 'the place' of the House of God... the Holy Temple.

Deuteronomy 12:11 KJV
(11) Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD:

That is not the place where the Temple Mount exists. So has God yet to cause His name to dwell there?

Why here is why the ladder IS the gate way unto heaven .
What did Jacob see ascending and descending on the LADDER .
Remember he saw heaven open and this ladder which connected Heaven to earth
the very Ladder that he saw angels ascending and descending on
POINTS TO JESUS .
Open up them bibles and feast and see WHO this gateway or door is .
John chapter one verse fifty one .
And He , JESUS , said unto him
Verily verily , I say unto you , Hereafter you shall see heaven open
, and the angels of God ascending and descending UPON the Son of man .
YEP . What Jacob saw POINTS TO THE TRUE ONE CHRIST THE KING >
Oh yes , let us read our bibles for hours daily . OH and praise the LORD .

I have come in MY Fathers NAME . I tell us all you are right , this whole event
Jacob saw points to the reconciliation of man to GOD .

Maybe, but I think it is more simplistic than that. Seeing angels coming and going to and from heaven would obviously lead to the conclusion that that was the way in and out of heaven, the gate.

Jhn 10:7

Jhn 10:9

I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.


Jhn 4:20-24

Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

He said, "This place's dreadful!" This place would afterward fill his mind with that fear which creatures feel in God's presence.This is where God shows Godself, where God's grace opens heaven itself to the sinner seeking God's mercy.

Yes, we now know that Yeshua is the gate, but Jacob did not know that when he had that dream.
