How do you feel about infant circumcision. Choose as many as apply.

I had my son circumcised. That said it was horrible to hear him scream from it. It broke my heart really. But it's one of those things that has to be done I think, so they can live a normal Christian life and not feel different and singled out or something. But then I never checked the statistics about how many get circumcised in my country.

Answering this question in General Theology, I give a resounding "NO!"

If you asked this question in Men's Health, I would highly recommend it. Context is everything.

We have two boys. We left them uncircumcised, even though I was done as an infant (my parents were big on that). One still is; the other couldn't retract his foreskin fully, even after adolescence, so he got trimmed.

Best of both worlds: don't change what isn't a problem, but change it if needed.

My only question is. If God did not want us men to have foreskins, why do he created us with foreskins?
They probably weren't a problem before the Fall.

My son is circumcised, but certainly not for any religious reasons. When he was born I didn't know whether to have it done or not but the OB/GYN who delivered him strongly recommended it.

Idk, take it up with Him. He wants us to cut them though. It's representative of our fleshly nature coming into obedience and submission to Him.

I feel it probably has more health benefits than infant vaccination, but is of no benefit spiritually (and may even be a hindrance, by giving one a feeling of self-righteousness).

The irony is that those who know it best pratice it for religious reasons, rather than health.

You forgot: no, because it removes pleasurable nerve endings and changes sex for both men and women.
I thought the more recent studies showed there is little, if any, difference?

I didn’t know that, I’ll have to look into it. My own observations have certainly fit the idea that circumision changes things sexually.

Obviously, it does involve some change. But the study shows the change doesn't cause a great difference in sensitivity, which I thought was the point you were making.

Neonatal circumcision does not reduce penile sensitivity in men, study finds: New research challenges widely accepted beliefs

Women who wear earrings can generally relate to getting their ears pierced. Just think of it as similar to ear piercing, but for guys. No pain, no gain, as they say.

I did forget that option.

No It will impact sensation for both the man and woman.

I also forgot the often heard:

Yes I don't want him to be embarrassed in the locker room. He will stand out.

Circumcision for Christians these days is simply a health related procedure not a religious requirement, anyway Paul told us that circumcision for non Jewish followers of 'The Way' was not necessary anyway.

I voted "no", based on the language of "should". Fundamentally it doesn't matter, as the Apostle says, circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. If Christian parents wish to have their children circumcised, it's fine--but it's also completely unnecessary and serves no good purpose either medically or religiously. But I'm not going to shame parents who choose to do so as though they are doing something wrong.

I think it is our responsibility as Christians to shame parents who abuse their children. It is one thing to stand by and let others sin when that sin only affects themselves, but when it affects their innocent children who cannot protect themselves, are we not morally required to act? If a parent cut off their child's ear, would you still refuse to "shame them"?

My only question is. If God did not want us men to have foreskins, why do he created us with foreskins?

So that men have something to circumcise. God actually instructed Abraham to circumcise himself and his descendants as well. Christians are not required to do that but not required to refrain from it either. Even with as many options as the poll gives I find it impossible to give an answer that would satisfactorily express my opinion on the subject. Probably because all the options end up being either yes circumcise or no don't circumcise . I don't have a yes or no opinion on the subject. I don't see circumcision as a moral or health necessity or a moral or health problem. Either choice is morally and physically acceptable from my perspective.
