Hi and the Greek word for WERE SAVED / DIASOZO means it is a ONE TIME OCCURRENCE as DIASOZO is in the AORIST TENSE which means a ONE TIME OCCURRENCE in 1 Peter 3:20 !!

In verse 21 the Greek word for EVEN BAPTISM is not the GREEK BAPTIZO but the Greek BAPTISMA !!

What then does BAPTISMA mean ??

It means one who is a BAPTIZER and the BAPTIZER was God during NOAH'S TIME !!

Check the Greek Text and see !!

dan p
I don't see the point you are referring to...
One can be baptized once....and then again..
JESUS IS WHERE WE GET OUR WASHING...
Its ongoing...as we obey
Think about the comparison to the ritual baptisms that were continual. Also notice the text...the baptism occurs in Christ....
As I bet that tense can happen .....and happen again.....you do not have the evidence to say conclusively it Just happens once and never again. "!!!"
JESUS THE Risen is our answer.....to a clear conscience before God....He is our mediator...and in Him our washing takes place...yes and I believe by God in Christ through obedience

Hi and in the AOTIST TENSE IT can happen only one time !!

Here is and example , you are born in Dec 1 , 1900 that is the AOTIST TENSE and from then on you are in the PRESENT TENSE until you die !!

The AORIST TENSE and the PRESENT TENSE put together make the PERFECT TENSE and this can be checked , if you want to check !!

When I come to think of what you are arguing you are right, but wrong....it's Jesus's baptism that saves us now....And He died once and lives forever...

He drank the cup of death once
He Died once....and this is what I'm getting at.

...to point out the baptism that saves us now .....the key is, as I pointed out early this passage: if you walk in the spirit you have fellowship with one another and the blood cleanses from all unrighteouness.

What gives us a clean conscience before God....It's Jesus's resurrection....
His death brings us near but His resurrection Justifies.....when we obey....[so you you see?]
He is the gospel.

JESUS WAS BAPTIZED INTO DEATH ONCE..
ONLY TO DEFEAT IT.....SO THAT WE CAN LIVE, OR HAVE LIFE FROM ABOVE NOW[THE KINGDOM AT HAND]

ITS HIS BAPTISM THAT SAVES US NOW.
AND WE ARE CLEANSED CONTINUALLY WHEN WE WALK OR LIVE IN IT.

WE ARE JUSTIFIED BY HIS RESURRECTION.

He is our deliver, refuge, covering, hiding place...Jesus the risen is our Salvation.
We must continue to remain in His love where we are washed. Go to Roman's 4 :24

"Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification."

Yes, 1 Peter 3:21
He was obedient to the father and drank the cup of death.
He died to sin but He resurrected to life..
That is the Baptism.
Now we are saved through His resurrection.

Roman's 4:25

Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

What's the point you are trying to prove?
As for your statement, "baptism doesn't mean baptism!!" I THINK I'LL STICK WITH THE WORD oF God....

If one walks in the spirit one has fellowship with one another and the blood cleanses from all unrighteouness ...

There it is....

Jesus resurrection is our baptism[cleansing] we need to walk in His Spirit [being obedient] being led by it and we will not fullfill the lust of the flesh.

Jesus's resurrection [part] of His baptism into our death cleanses us when we walk in the newness of life [His Spirit][his resurrected life, where He lives forever to intercede for those who come to Him.

Jesus is our answer to a clear conscience before God [now] we must trust Jesus and in Him we find forgiveness of sins. [The blood cleanses]

Hi and the Greek BAPTISMA is used 22 times in the bible and here is another example in Eph 4:5 One Lord lne Faith and one BAPTISMA !!

Another example is in Acts 19:4 , do you see it , and if not check the Greek text as the first wors is BAPTIZO and the second is BAPTISMA , it is your choice !!

So , check some more in Matt3:7 , 20:22 , 23 , 25 and in Mark 1 :4 and in 10:38 and many more !!

Rather different than :
KJ21
The like figure to this, even baptism, doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

ASV
which also after a true likeness doth now save you, even baptism, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the interrogation of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ;

AMP
Corresponding to that [rescue through the flood], baptism [which is an expression of a believer’s new life in Christ] now saves you, not by removing dirt from the body, but by an appeal to God for a good (clear) conscience, [demonstrating what you believe to be yours] through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

AMPC
And baptism, which is a figure [of their deliverance], does now also save you [from inward questionings and fears], not by the removing of outward body filth [bathing], but by [providing you with] the answer of a good and clear conscience (inward cleanness and peace) before God [because you are demonstrating what you believe to be yours] through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

PHILLIPS
If it is the will of God that you should suffer it is really better to suffer unjustly than because you have deserved it. Remember that Christ the just suffered for us the unjust, to bring us to God. That meant the death of his body, but he came to life again in the spirit. It was in the spirit that he went and preached to the imprisoned souls of those who had been disobedient in the days of Noah—the days of God’s great patience during the period of the building of the ark, in which eventually only eight souls were saved in the flood. And I cannot help pointing out what a perfect illustration this is of the way you have been admitted to the safety of the Christian “ark” by baptism, which means, of course, far more than the mere washing of a dirty body: it means the ability to face God with a clear conscience. For there is in every true baptism the virtue of Christ’s rising from the dead. And he has now entered Heaven and is at God’s right hand, with all angels, authorities and powers subservient to him.

VOICE
The water through which the ark safely passed symbolizes now the ceremonial washing through baptism that initiates you into salvation. You are saved not because it cleanses your body of filth but because of your appeal to God from a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus the Anointed, our Liberating King.

This is not found in Scripture. It is contrary to all that God Says Saves anyone.

1 Peter 3:21 found in the resurrection of Jesus Christ

So no.
It is not Jesus' Immersion that saves us now, nor is it written that way that it is.
Yes, we are resurrected , we are in resurrection life, in Jesus thru or after our immersion in water in Jesus' Name. Simply. Plain and Truth.

This is not a debate: this is a learning forum...
Without His death there would be no resurrection....
I said that part of the baptism was His resurrection...I noted we are saved by His resurrection which is the Baptism that saves us now...according to first Peter 3:21.
As the people in the Ark were saved through the waters.....so are all those in Christ the resurrected who walk after the Spirit, For He defeated death.

Correct that all those in Christ are saved.
Just not seeing anything anywhere that says His resurrection is the immersion (baptism) that saves us now.

We who are immersed in Him , in His Name, in water, are saved, yes, and share in His resurrection life right away.

Semantics or what ?

And what does this have to do with dispensationalism, btw? (this section of the forum).

Simply His Word, Truth.

Simply His Word, Truth.
Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

So we are saved from trespasses and sin
In order to be Justified by His Life

Another words we are saved from trespasses and sin to be saved, delivered, cleansed, protected, through His resurrected Life...for He lives for ever to intercede for those who come to Him....

Salvation is Christ's Life.....

There are more than 1 def. For the use of Baptism..
As cleansing of a guilty conscience
