Uh, you are not explaining the points I made with Scripture that refute your false thinking here.

I don't care to. I know you well enough that you don't want any of the gifts, and have your mind made up that they don't exist.

This sounds like you are making excuses not to explain your position. From my perspective. It simply looks like you don't know how to explain the verses I brought forth because they refute your belief. I would like to know how you honestly explain those verses that appears to contradict your belief.

Ah, slip of the mind due to exhaustion :) I was referencing James. I have heard some say that passage in James is no longer applicable to today, which I disagree with.

It's all good. I completely understand. I have also made similar minor slip ups like that before; Especially when I am tired.

May God bless you, friend;
And may you please be well.

I wrote a book on the subject, and know this subject very well. But with someone with a closed heart it would be casting pearls.

Why not help somebody else here?
Did not Jesus say to Peter to feed the sheep?
Is your book not available to the public?

Also, I don't see the phrase "casting pearls before swine" as in reference to believers but unbelievers. The swine are clearly in reference to unbelieving Gentiles like atheists, etc. The pearls would be sacred or precious and deep teachings within God's Word.

This is why I will only preach the gospel to atheists and I will not debate with them the finer points of Scripture.

Unbelief is unbelief.

I am more than willing to believe. But I need proof in Scripture of your position. So far, the weight of Scriptural evidence in favor of Cessationism (not the general ceasing of miracles by God) is pretty good in my opinion. But that does not mean I am not open to hearing the other person's position with Scripture.

I have not had any Continuationist counter my points with their own Scripture verses that made me stop like a deer caught in the path of a car's headlights.

Do you give a detailed word for word commentary to 1 Corinthians 14:14-15 in your book?

Read it and find out. Or don't.

Really? You cannot give me a simple answer to my question?
My guess is that you did not provide a word by word commentary on this passage because you are evading the answer that I seek.

Anyways, good day to you in the Lord.

If our roles were reversed, and I wanted you to be helped, and or to promote my book, I would take a screen capture of that portion of my book that gives a detailed word for word commentary on the Scripture passage that you were seeking so as to help you and so as to increase interest in my book. I would not promote a book to you that you had no real interest in without giving you helpful information from within in it. But you are free to do as you wish (of course).

Surely you do not always agree with Modern Translations. Do you always agree with the New Living Translation in what it says? The point here is that we have to look at the context and we have to look at cross references that say a similar thing. James 1 points us to what "perfect" is. It also points us to "looking at a glass/mirror," too. James 1 says the perfect is the "Perfect Law of Liberty." It also says the "glass/mirror" is the communicated Word of God. We are to conform to the image of Christ (face to face - 1 Corinthians 13) by looking in the mirror/Bible by obeying His commands. We see Christ's reflection in the Bible when we compare it our lives. When Paul wrote 1 Corinthians 14, the perfect (the Law of Liberty) had not yet been completed. The Perfect Law of Liberty was completed with the close of Revelation. Paul says when that "perfect" (i.e. the Perfect Law of Liberty) has come, things like tongues will cease, etc.
Your hiding under ignorance. I detailed why James is different than 1 Cor 13:10 and you accuse me being too Greek. So I use exclusively use English versions to which the KJV was one of them and say the same thing and you say I'm using too modern translation and declare your original point is still valid. It still is false even if you refuse to study beyond 400 yr old English words, I might add in the 16th century the general thought was this passage meant meeting Jesus in heaven and all they used to come to that was the KJV

Rubbish. Jesus healed people because He is good, loved people and had compassion for them.

What you are saying is that Jesus doesn't have compassion on sick people today? It is not because Jesus has ceased having compassion on sick folk, it because the chair that I am sitting has much more grace and compassion that large section of today's church - who deny healing to sick people because of their non-compassionate, loveless religiosity.
Its not rubbish. They were signs. I see many Christians dying of illness. It happens to believers and unbelievers. How do you explain that? I guess those believers just dont have the faith you do, or Jesus dont love them. Poor souls.

I am a simple person. I like it when folks talk to me plainly in not in a language that is no longer in existence that they cannot possibly know with 100% certainty. For Paul even says, "Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech" (2 Corinthians 3:12).

Again, lets look at the two chapters to see their similarities.

#1. Perfect is present in both.

"But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away." (1 Corinthians 13:10).

"But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." (James 1:25).

#2. Mirror/Glass is present in both.

"For now we see through a glass, darkly;"
(1 Corinthians 13:12).

23 "For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." (James 1:23-25).

#3. Looking into a Mirror/Glass is present in both.

"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:" (1 Corinthians 13:12).

We see through a glass, but we can see our reflection in this glass and become face to face with ourselves (i.e. the reflection of our face, and our real face).

#4. Love is present in both.

"And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity." (1 Corinthians 13:13).

"Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him." (James 1:12).

#5. Being immature (a child, knowing in part, or forgetful) is present in both.

Children lack knowledge. They know in part.

11 "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." (1 Corinthians 13:11-12).

James talks about how one who does not do God's Word is like a person who looks into a mirror and forgets what he looks like. They know in part, too. They may know certain things, but they cannot remember what they look like in the mirror. They are like a child if they do not obey God's Word.

22 "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." (James 1:22-25).

Children can sometimes be forgetful, too.

In addition, we also have to take a step back and remind ourselves that 1 Corinthians 13 is the famous love chapter. How did Jesus say we are to love Him? Jesus says, if you love me, keep my commandments (John 14:15). These commandments are found within His Word. James says,

3 "...the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." (James 1:3-4).

"But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." (James 1:25).

In addition, here is a "Bonus Comparison" involving James 1 and 1 Corinthians 13 through 1 Corinthians 14:

The words "Blessed" and "Love" appears in both James and Corinthians.

"Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?" (1 Corinthians 14:16).

This is tied to the point of 1 Corinthians 13 that says,

"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal." (1 Corinthians 13:1).

Paul's point here is that if we speak with the tongues of men and or of angels (Which is talking about speaking in an unknown tongue) and there is no love, they are like a tinkling cymbal (i.e. a worthless noise). One cannot bless with others saying "Amen" if they do not understand their words by speaking in an unknown tongue. They have become like a tinkling cymbal.

James 1:12 says,

"Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him."
I hope this helps you to see where I am coming from;
And may God bless you today.

Again, this all relates. We are blessed if we endure temptation (obedience to the perfect Law of Liberty). We bless with the understanding so as to be loving towards others. For Jesus says to Peter that he is to feed the sheep as a part of loving Jesus.

Your missing the point. I am saying that if I wanted to HELP someone by my book, I would give them a screen capture of the part that could help them. Also, mentioning the book here means you are promoting your book. So to say you are not promoting your book is not exactly true. If you were not promoting your book, you would not mention the book at all.
