Hello friends! I was reading all of the "I Am" statements this evening, and there's a lot to think about in the verses. Can anyone recommend a good study book, or would anyone like to do a study together? Maybe one of the statements a week? Thanks in advance!

"I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." (in Matthew 11:29)

I am not sure if "I am gentle and lowly in heart" is included in any of the I AM studies.

But this means God is gentle and humble. And humble can include how Jesus is so un-conceited that He cared about us enough to leave Heaven in order to be with us here and save us and share God's own good with us.

So, this is our example of how to become in sharing with Jesus. We do well to be willing to leave our little heavens we have made on this earth, in order to love any and all people however our Heavenly Father pleases.

That one isn't in the 7
Possibly, it can bring to us how God is our example, required of us. We need to be gentle and humble in Jesus.

And he who has seen Jesus has seen our Father; so our Father is gentle and humble ! ! ! He is not distant but kind and personal and gentle with us . . . not conceited and all about being superior, but humble though He is so superior.

"Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma." (Ephesians 5:1-2)

John uses Isaiah to reveal the identity of Jesus/Yeshua... this makes a wonderful study... I don't know if you can study it to completion as it is everywhere when you begin to look.

Isaiah 44:6 ESV
(6) Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.

Many, many comparisons in Isaiah... especially chapters 40 - 55.

Regarding the Gospel of John there are also less obvious mentions (due to Greek usage), if you compare:

John 8:58 ESV
(58) Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”

John 4:26 ESV
(26) Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.”

Still the same Greek 'ego eimi'.

Great topic.
