• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. And today/yesterday, I got yelled at because wow, I have autonomy and didn't want to attend service of a man who talks and encourages the congregation to kill cats! I don't mind attending services out of respect, but I refuse to attend one taught by a...thing that actively encourages harm on a creature believed to be a creation of god! But I have to attend christmas service tonight (mom promised its just singing).

Two more weeks and I'll be back at school.

So I'm a mix of angry and depressed.

Wow. Your dad is a minister but he's cruel to you and cats? I'm so sorry. It isn't right that you have to go back to that kind of abuse. He doesn't sound like a Christian at all, just the kind of person who takes on a role of leadership to either manipulate people or stroke his own ego. God will rebuke him for his cruelty, I assure you.

When I was younger I thought the same a few times. In reality, I believe you are loved. Emotions can get in the way, and sometimes it's hard to see how things really are. Praying for you to to have some peace of mind and close family relations!

There are these new things called ABLE accounts where you can save money but it doesn't count against your SSI. Only thing is you can only used the money saved for necessary things, so you couldn't use it to go on vacation or anything.

Merry Christmas everyone! My grandfather died yesterday morning. I was really upset but I talked to a friend and he helped me feel a little better. Christmas is going okay without grandpa but I wish he was here.

Well, got to love when your own family makes you feel like a complete failure, even at Christmas. That and I sent out Christmas texts to people, no replies. Pretty much the same trash over and over and over again, no change, no hope, always alone.

Obviously I don’t know the particulars, but many of us on this forum have been hurt by family, including me.

Struggling to go back to work, because 1.work is slow and 2. depression is kinda crippling my will to go back from this lunch break.

Trying not to go too early in my emotion to have a breakdown. I rather breakdown before going back.

I'm doing ok slowly coping better since I talked to my family on Christmas day and had some good conversation which eased my anxiety. talked to my son yesterday for few mins then had him continue to do as he was asked to do. we had some storms n came in waves yesterday and gave me a migraine took meds but took an hr to kick in, glad it was clear today but bright sunlight hurts my eyes. . anyway I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and stay safe for new year. much love

i've been struggling this Christmas, very tired and drained with very little motivation to do anything. Today started off fine but at 9.15 am i'm already slowing down considerably.

i haven't had much quiet time with The Lord the last week or so, depression effects every aspect of our lives, the spiritual as well. Best off turning the music back on again. Scripture sung is one of the best ways to hear God speak to us. i literally pine after Him.

i put on Sherri Youngward she is singing Isaiah 53:1-6 to me, 'Man of Sorrows,' i love that song, i love it how the Lord overcame even the biggest burdens known to humanity, so we can overcome through Him.
