Is there any scripture to support this idea brother?
Salvation is not a right of one's birth, else only those who hold it could be saved.
The birthright promise was to the physical decendence of Abraham that BELIEVED and FOLLOWED God's WORD and was not given outside of the physical decendence of Abraham until the NEW COVENANT when God's WORD was given to all mankind. Those who were physical decendence of Abraham and were UNBELIEVERS and were no FOLLOWERS of God's WORD were not considered God's ISRAEL by JESUS and God under the OLD COVENANT or the NEW.
JOHN 8:37-44
[37],
I know that ye are Abraham's seed [PHYSICAL ISRAEL]:
yet ye seek to kill me, because my word hath not free course in you.
[38], I speak the things which I have seen with my Father: and ye also do the things which ye heard from your father.
[39],
They answered and said unto him, Our father is Abraham.
Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham [JESUS SHOWS THEY WERE NOT A PART OF GOD'S ISRAEL BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT BELIEVING AND FOLLOWING GOD'S WORD].
[40],
But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I heard from God: this did not Abraham.
[41],
Ye do the works of your father. They said unto him, We were not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
[42], Jesus said unto them,
If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I came forth and am come from God; for neither have I come of myself, but he sent me.
[43], Why do ye not understand my speech? Even because
ye cannot hear my word.
[44],
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father it is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and standeth not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.
God's ISRAEL under both COVENANTS are only those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD. Salvation under both COVNENANT was only ever conditional to those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD regardless of a physical birthright.
Once again God's ISRAEL under both COVENANTS are only those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD. Salvation under both COVNENANT was only ever conditional to those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD. Under both COVENANTS those who did not BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD lost the presence of God.
ISAIAH 59:2 But
your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, so that he will not hear.
PROVERBS 28:9 He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
Being under the physical birth right promise in the OLD COVENANT did not automatically grant salvation. Slavation was granted only to all those who BELIEVED and FOLLOWED God's WORD. Under the NEW COVENANT physical the invitation to be a part of God's ISRAEL has gone to ALL NATIONS *MATTHEW 28:19. Once again to be a part of God's ISRAEL in the NEW COVENANT it conditional on BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God's WORD *1 JOHN 2:3-4.[/QUOTE]
Once again, you are conflating the promise of
race and the promise of
grace. The promise of race is unconditional. God's promise of wealth and power, the
birthright, was passed to Isaac, then to Joseph, and finally to Joseph's sons Ephraim and Manasseh. The fullness of the birthright promise was never realized in the old testament period. Genesis 49 reveals that that fullness would occur in the
last days.
Genesis 49
49 And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.
The "last days" are generally reckoned from the time of Christ. Therefore the birthright blessing had not yet been realized. The tribes of the northern kingdom were scattered after the fall of Assyria. Until the rise of the British Empire and America no nation or people could claim to be the beneficiary of this promise.
22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel
25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
26 The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren
The birthright is the 'right of inheritance' commonly reserved for the first born son. It is usually unconditional. The claim to the birthright promise rests solely on the birth order, unless mitigated by some extreme factor. In this case Reuben, the actual firstborn of Jacob, was denied this blessing for 'inappropriate sexual behavior' with one of Jacob's 'wives'. But even this is suspect as Joseph was the 'morally legitimate' first born son of Jacob by Rachel, who was his true love. It is my feeling that God found a way to undue the damage caused by the deception of Laban and Leah and convey the birthright to Joseph.
