One guy donated $50,000. And quite a few more donated over a thousand. It sounds like the guy who started the go fund me would keep anything over $1,000.

And if this whole thing blows up, he'll have made himself quite infamous and he'd discover that whatever he ended up with wouldn't have been worth the trouble.

I can't help but wonder how many Trump supporters who donated to this border wall fund (no matter the amount) did so without checking the credibility of the person asking for the money. I wonder how many of them actually read the legal terms of the GoFundMe regulations regarding "In the event of a Misuse" as you specified in your post below from the GoFundMe site. How many just donated blindly?

Forbes says:

According to the GoFundMe website, donations are protected by a guarantee. “If funds aren’t delivered to the right person, we will donate the missing amount,” declares the company. “In the rare case that something isn’t right, we will refund your donation.”

However, the guarantee is limited: If GoFundMe investigates the campaign and confirms that there has been misuse, they will refund your money up to $1,000 per campaign. Limitations apply. And while regret isn’t good cause, criminal misconduct is included in the list of actions that constitute misuse: The campaign organizer or beneficiary is formally charged with a crime directly related to their actions, omissions, and/or misrepresentations made by that individual in the campaign. You can find out more here.

I reached out to GoFundMe for more information about this specific case but did not receive an immediate response. However, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina confirmed that GoFundMe expressed that they would issue a full refund to all donors.

Please note that I couldn't find anything from GoFundMe to verify the prosecutor's claim.

I agree that many millions have already come in over the years. So what the Wall represents, might be something concrete to deal with the issue. Policies in the past have not slowed down the increased flow of third world immigrants. The President might consider that the hour is late for trying to stop massive third world immigration.

It would be much more preferable for him to consider a policy based on removing the economic motivations that drive them here, revamped and mandatory e-verify with stiff penalties for employing illegal labor that are actually enforced, rather then wasting a hundred billion on a ineffective vanity project. However I am not prone to flights of irrational optimism anymore.

I agree that trying to enforce existing legislation has been lax. Here in Portland, it’s kind of a sanctuary city for undocumented immigrants. IMO, it’s hard to fault the massive immigrants who want more in life than what they’re getting in their home country. The sheer math of overpopulation is overwhelming. So in a way, sanctuary cities are taking care of a very small fraction of the problem. Further, add to that the lack of skill, the poverty, and possible demon possession that massive immigration can bring.

Illegal immigration, especially by southern border crossing, is down in recent years.

Given the tweets coming out of the White House this morning, Trump obviously feels he is the one suffering, alone in his taxpayer-funded mansion manned by servants and chefs on Christmas--instead of in Mar a Lago charging the Secret Service a bundle to stay in the rooms and fattening his coffers.

by few mistakes you might want to include where he and his father tried to stop people from renting to minorities because they were racists. or how about that time where he took out ads in papers to keep 5 innocent men in jail based off of bogus charges again because of racism. or how about the multiple times he has stiffed people who have done work for him driving small businesses into bankruptcy.
