The "THEM" of verse 9 is not talking about four earthly kings anymore. There has been a shift in the geography, AND in the time, a jump from the days of antiquity, to the end of the world. Both at verse 9, and at verse 23. There has to be a jump because the vision is for the time of the end.
How long is the vision concerning the regular burnt offering, the transgression that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and host to be trampled underfoot?” It would be a LONG time. Much would need to transpire between THEN and NOW. Even including the Sanctuary, which would need to be restored to it's rightful state, and that would not even begin to take place until 2300 years after 457BC. The "Sanctuary" mentioned here is the True Tent, the place of His Sanctuary, the temple in Heaven.
"And he said to me, “For 2,300 evenings and mornings. Then the sanctuary shall be restored to its rightful state.”
So the "THEM" of verse 9 are NOT Alexanders four generals, they can't be. That is where the shift in time occurs. The "THEM" of verse 9 are: "the FOUR WINDS of HEAVEN". Out of one of THEM, "the FOUR WINDS of HEAVEN", comes a little horn. Out of one of the four winds of Heaven comes a little horn. Cast out from the North wind of Heaven, comes our end time "man" of sin, our end time Antichrist.
Even as great as the Prince of the host.
We are also talking about DIRECTION now as this little horn grows to the south, toward the east, and toward the
United States Glorious Land which is west. This means that the little horn comes from the North. The little horn is the stern faced King of the North from Daniel 11. The little horn is Lucifer. Even as great as the Prince of the host? Only the dragon can empower our end time composite beast. Only the "man" of sin, "is this the "man" that made the nations tremble", can fulfill all the other specifications of Daniel 8 and 11. Only Lucifer could rise up to the Prince of the host, to the Place of His Sanctuary, in Heaven's Temple.
The dragon was cast out of Heaven on Resurrection Sunday, "now is the time for the god of this world to be cast out", he was immediately thrown into the earth, into the abyss, he will soon come up from the abyss and go to his destruction. He is the son of destruction, the son of perdition. And we are living at the latter end of his kingdom, the kingdom of the transgressors.

"And at the latter end of their kingdom,
when the transgressors have reached their limit,
a king of bold face, one who understands riddles, shall arise.
Think of it like the "abomination that makes desolate" is when the "transgressors have reached their limit". Notice a Divine "limit to transgression", it's the kingdom of the transgressors now, not the kingdom of the 4 horns anymore. This is not talking about a specific nation or kingdom on earth. This is referring to the prevailing number, or group of world wide transgressing individuals. This is the kingdom we are living in now of rebellious peoples and nations and tongues that the composite beast has risen from.
The composite beast is here. I can hear it open it's mouth to blaspheme God and his dwelling place and those who live in Heaven. So that means that the dragon is here now too, giving IT his power and his throne and his great authority. That authority he does not give to five or six dead human kings.
The seven heads are here with us and all alive right now. They are ALSO seven mountains which have blasphemous names written on their heads. The composite beast could not rise from the sea without them.
John was seeing the vision of this conglomerate beast at a time when it was not fully formed:
"The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast.
With ten CROWNS on its ten horns, and on each religious head a blasphemous name written. The "ten horns" are the government portion of the composite beast, the seven mountains, the seven kings, are the seven religious authorities. Each of them having a "blasphemous" name written of them should be a hint that they had something to do with religion. The composite beast is church and state. The composite beast represents the governments and religions of the many nations and peoples and tongues of the world that this beast rises from.
Every person that dwells upon the face of the whole earth can trace a connection to one of the seven heads of this composite beast. So know therefore and understand that the explanation can at times drift a bit close to where some of us live. I, on the other hand, consider myself a virgin, not to be defiled by
churches women.
This calls for a mind with wisdom.
The only way this riddle can be solved is if the reader can consider one of the "historicist" positions on Daniel 7 and Revelation 12. It won't work or make sense any other way. And that is because identifying the "head" that was wounded by the sword and yet lives is the key.
In 1798 during the French Revolution, Pope Pius was captured and died in a French jail cell. The Vatican was put out of commission until 1929 when Benito Mussolini got it going again during the Lateran treaty.
If one can at least consider the possibility that this wounded "head" was the 6th king in 1798, then the remaining "heads" must be something of the same kind of thing. He was looking fairly healed in
this video i saw where he was addressing congress.

If this calls for a mind with wisdom, and it does, then only He can give that wisdom to the wise. I recommend the translations that use the word:"mountains", not hills.
And there's four beasts in Revelation's narrative. The first beast, the composite beast of Revelation 13, is NOT the "man" of sin.
This beast is also not same as Daniel 7's beast, it's the end time version of it. Daniel 7's beast had three kings plucked up by the roots. These were in the Foxe Book days of the middle ages. Our end time composite beast will not have three of it's kings plucked up by their roots. All ten of these end time kings will be thrown, WITH the composite beast that they are a part of, into the lake of fire as part of the second coming events.
The composite beast is a conglomerate of church and state that will ultimately be controlled by the devil himself. So my story on it is spooky because i am saying that the composite beast is now, we are in it's 42 months of authority now. I can hear it open it's mouth to blaspheme God and His dwelling place and those who live in Heaven. It is saying unheard of things against the God of gods. So then if that's true, it also means that the man of sin is here as well. Because it is he who gives his power and his throne and his great authority to the composite beast.
And don't worry about finding the ten kings right now because they are not here yet. But realizing that the ten horns with the crowns are the "kings", that have the "ten diadems on its horns", should be indicative of these being the governments or the civil portion of the composite beast's authority. For now just go looking for the seven major religious authorities that are preeminent in their class.
Heads and mountains and kings that have fallen. And lions and tigers and bears, Oh My. Loosen up a little on the language Dorothy and google some definitions. "Fallen" does not always mean out of business or out of commission. Think about a fallen woman, she's not dead, just fallen from grace.
And think about how the mountains are more than symbolic for places of worship or where the deities are thought to dwell. Mount Zion, God's Holy hill, mount Moriah, the high places of the OT where they erected the ashterah poles. And how the pagans in south America would make a pilgrimage up the mountain to worship their gods.

Budweiser is the "king" of beers.
And "king" doesn't always mean the ruler of a kingdom, it can also be used to refer to something preeminent in it's class. In the USA, Budweiser is the "king" of beers. In Europe, soccer is the "king" of sports. And in the middle east, Islam is the "king" of religion. Cotton may no longer be "king", but remains the chief cash crop.

The Seven Heads.
When John spoke with the angel in AD95 these following five religious belief systems had "fallen", been proven false, by Jesus' birth, death and resurrection:
1) Atheism. This is defined as the belief that there is no God or gods. It might not sound like a religion, but it's a system of belief that remains today as i can see them still arguing on different forums.
2) Paganism. A type of polytheism. A belief in a number of subordinate gods.
3) Eastern Mysticism. Including Buddhism and Hinduism. The idea that man can transcend himself and reincarnate into a god.
4) Judaism. The failed attempt at salvation coming through works alone.
5) Islam. Also Mohammedanism. The middle eastern religion that sprang from Ishmael's 12 sons.
The early christian church was just forming when John spoke with the angel in AD95 and would become known as the one that is:
6) Catholicism. The traditions and beliefs of Catholic Churches became bigger than it's religion. Their theology, liturgy, ethics and spirituality. The Holy See. See Popery. The Catholic Church is the main and the earliest form of Christianity.
The one that had not yet come in AD95 got started in around 1517. It's "little" while appears to be about over. For the message now is that faith without works is dead.

7) Protestantism. The second largest form of Christianity. Protestantism is popularly considered to have begun in
Germany in 1517 when

Ninety-five Theses as a reaction against abuses in the sale of indulgences by theRoman Catholic Church.
When the 8th king is revealed he will complete this picture. The 8th king is also an identifier of the seven heads. The 8th is OF the seven. He is of the same KIND. The 8th king is Lucifer's theocratic church state, the MOTHER of all the harlots. For he will have no gods before him. He will not have the desire of women, the desire of churches, which is Jesus.
When the Man of Sin is revealed, he will take over the role of all other religions. He will make a carbon copy "image" of that 6th head that was wounded by the sword in 1798, began it's healing in 1929, and yet lives and will cause everyone to worship it.
