This poll was inspired by a comment made by a forum member in another thread.

For avoidance of doubt, I classify 'actively looking' as investing significant time and effort with expectation, or at least hopefulness, of becoming involved in a romantic relationship. Examples include, but are not restricted to, spending money and time using online dating, regularly asking people you meet to go on a date, frequently going to places or meetups with the hope of encountering suitable matches, asking friends if they know any suitable singletons, browsing social media to identify potential dates.

I voted yes as I use online dating (but I haven't spent any money on it as I'm not prepared to pay for something with no guarantee of working), and I do go to meetups hoping to encounter someone suitable. Although that's never my primary intention as my main purpose for going is whatever the meetup's activity happens to be.

Life is too busy/messy right now. I don't even look at a guy and wonder if he is available lately. My focus is trying to get out of pain and meeting my kids' need and trying to not rock the boat at work until a different position becomes available. Not much energy left after that. I've also come to peace with the idea that I might keep my widow status until I meet Jesus. But it still makes me sad at times.

If I daydream about a relationship, is about a man "saving" me from my problems. Not realistic or possible...and definitely not the right frame of mind to even consider dating. I can consider dating when I get back to wanting a man to help me be stronger so I can save myself from my problems...and I have time to serve him.

I am proactively trying to get out and date someone yes but at the same time I'm gonna live my life and let God do his thing by letting him bring her across my path when he is ready. In the meantime I'll just keep praying and warring for it to happen

I had prayed that if God didn't have anyone for me right now, to take away to strong desire I had for a relationship. Lately, that seems to be occurring; I believe He's giving me the grace I need to be content with being single. As a result, I'm not actively seeking one at the moment.

I still hope to have a companionship with an awesome sister in Christ one day. But in the mean time, am fine waiting on God's timing.

Sorry, I thought platonic relationships covered the celibacy position. Is there a difference? Maybe there are people who are celibate and do not have any platonic relationships.

After all these years of sitting in church, I didn't know God was capable of foolishness or weakness until now. Just wait until the folks at church hear this one! Typically, they'll pretend that such a verse isn't even there, since they believe what they want to believe, regardless of scripture.

Yes, but its very difficult to find a good Christian girl in my country (or in Europe) and I am not so rich to fly to other continents for a date.

So I will probably stay alone.
