The most commonly cited location of Mount Sinai or “Jebel Musa,” meaning the “Mountain of Moses,” is at St. Catherine’s in the southern part of the Sinai Peninsula in modern-day Egypt. iv always believed it is in Arabia .. the evidence is more then over whelming imo .

in contrast the evidence at the st Catherine site is ZIP and has never ever made any sense to me .
some question the distance traveled in the time it took to do so. but they miss two simple points .. 1. that they traveled night and day without stopping And 2. that its GOD who lead them and he said he brought them out on eagles wings . so they were supernaturally hastened , meaning the distance in the time alloted is no problem at all.

This is piggybacked from Ron Wyatt's and the Caldwell's research. Also, Joel Richardson is doing similar research now. Michael Rood is spearheading this on his shows lately.

One of the simplest proofs that Sinai / Horeb is in Saudi Arabia is found in your bibles. It tells us outright in Exodus3

Ex3v1Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
Take note of the stated location.
When Moses saw the burning bush he was caring for Jethro's sheep in Midian.
2There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. ………………..

............12And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.”
So when they escape from Egypt, the Israelites will worship God on which mountain?
Horeb!
And where is Horeb?
In Midian!
And where is Midian?
To answer that, go to your atlases and look for Midian, and you will find it clearly located across the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia!

Next check the maps in the back of your bibles, and you will still find Midian across the Red Sea.
But despite that, they invariably show Mount Sinai in the modern Sinai peninsula in modern Egypt. That's because most bible publishers are riddled with unbelief.

Yet another easy biblical statement that proves Mount Sinai cannot possibly be in Egypt in the modern day Sinai Peninsula.-

Exodus 19v1In the third month after the sons of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that very day they came into the wilderness of Sinai. 2When they set out from Rephidim, they came to the wilderness of Sinai and camped in the wilderness; and there Israel camped in front of the mountain.

Did you see that?
".............after the sons of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt...……"
So, after they had gone out of Egypt what happened?

They came to Sinai, that's what happened!
Yes, Sinai, ............….after they had fully departed from Egypt.

So how can Mt Sinai possibly be in Egypt?
Because Christians are so full of unbelief that they have to find some ways of circumventing the outrageous miracles that happened with the Exodus.

And there's even more in your bible to show that Mount Sinai cannot possible be in the modern Sinai peninsula of Egypt

Galatians4v24This is allegorically speaking, for these women are two covenants: one proceeding from Mount Sinai bearing children who are to be slaves; she is Hagar. 25Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.

This is crystal clear, Sinai is in Arabia, not Egypt.

Don't you just love it when the scriptures refute the religious traditionalists.

If I ever have a choice to visit a sacred site this Jabal Al Lawz would be it... I believe it was there that Paul went after his Damascus Road experience.

Galatians 1:17 KJV
(17) Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.

I have always believed Paul's journey to Arabia was to Mount Horeb/Sinai, the very place where Elijah heard "the still small voice of the Lord".

Doesn't the OT list two mountains, Sinai and Horeb, depending on the source?

According to a Nova episode I watched on the Bible, some scholars believe YHWH was originally the name of a Midianite deity.

There are some scholars that think that, but it is not widely accepted. Some also say he originated in the god Vulcan or El. The fact is that scholars just do not know for sure and cannot truly agree based on the evidence found so far. But as believers we have our own theories :)

The words Horeb and Sinai are used interchangeably, similar to how Jacob and Israel are used interchangeably when referring to the people of Israel.

How Great is our GOD that there just happened to exist 12 wells and 70 palms awaiting the Israelites at Elim (Jacob's 12 sons and 70 elders appointed by Moses). There was no word comparable to "coincidence" that existed in the Hebrew language at the time of Moses and the written Torah? Don't believe there is any such word in the entire Tanakh and certainly not in the Words of Yeshua.

The number of wells and palms must have been a definite sign to Moses and the Israelites that it was no mistake that their GOD was the only True GOD ... and yet the fearful Israelites were persuaded by 10 of the spies instead of Joshua (a fierce warrior) and Caleb. The other 10 spies were struck down with a plague and died. What's the lesson in this for us today other than to TRUST GOD even when the circumstances would suggest otherwise.

"Seventy has a sacred meaning in the Bible that is made up of the factors of two perfect numbers, seven (representing perfection) and ten (representing completeness and God's law). As such, it symbolizes perfect spiritual order carried out with all power. It can also represent a perioAarond of judgment.

Seventy (70) elders were appointed by Moses (Numbers 11:16). After reading the covenant God gave him to read to the people, Moses took 70 elders, along with Aaron and his sons, up Mount Sinai to have a special meal with God himself (Exodus 24:9 - 11)!

Ancient Israel spent a total number of 70 years in captivity in Babylon (Jeremiah 29:10). Seventy is also specially connected with Jerusalem. The city kept 70 years of Sabbaths while Judah was in Babylonian captivity (Jeremiah 25:11). Seventy sevens (490 years) were determined upon Jerusalem for it to complete its transgressions, to make an end for sins and for everlasting righteousness to enter into it (Daniel 9:24).

Terah, the father of Abraham (who was not his oldest son), had his first male child at 70. A total of 70 Israelites started what would become a nation within the nation of Egypt that would grow to more than two million by the Exodus. 70 disciples were sent out by Christ on a 'training mission' to preach the gospel to the surrounding area (Luke 10).
