I posted this on the Prayer Wall after asking for prayer; when I had trouble sleeping; as that forum is for prayer I decided to try here:

"Thank you all; I was able to sleep last night; got 6+ total for the night; which is good compared with the last week or so.
Woke up after a couple hrs and felt oppressed/persecuted from thoughts from the evil one, about the past (I know let it go; trying) and the future (and my health) if they get any worse.
So took my Bible off the night stand and opened it; and my eyes fell to:
Psalm 31:14,15:

"But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord;
I say, 'You are my God.'
My times are in Your hand;
Deliver me from the hand of my enemies,
And from those who persecute me."

Went back to sleep after that and slept fairly peacefully."

So the question I have; Do you think that the last line "and from those who persecute me" covers the Devil; as well as people who were persecuting King David (King Saul and even David's own family) and for us now:question: Thanks.

glad you were able to get some sleep :)

Yes, the last verse applies to the enemy (Satan), and his minions, and those who are under the influence of Satan.

And yes it applies to us now.

Yes, it does. Isn't the Lord GOOD! In what we lack He is there for us. About your past and the concerns of your future.
He offers rest to you. To receive it you must stop and wait on Him.
He designed us to need Him.
So Do not seek refuge in the past, Walk forward in His direction for your.
Quietly trust your problem, or a person into His care.

Hi,

I know that it what it means. I and others like me, all of those who have chosen God sufficiently to be working for God in some capacity or another including just Believing in God and His Son Christ, deal constantly with people, demons and Satan, who oppose God and all those that are for God.

It is God also, that gives us rest, from our enemies.

LOVE,

Sorry I didn't get back to this thread to thank those who posted; but my Satellite router was out for most of a week and I forgot about it and it didn't show up in my alerts once I got back on-line. While I was off I got hit by an attack on my stomach through reflux disease; (which is when acid is pushed into your upper stomach/ esophagus track) God through people got me help to stop the pain, figure out that beans plus vitamin c and multi-vitamins is not a good diet (lol) and learn to trust Him and relax in Jesus' peace.

Thanks Brinny; boy after the last 10 days or so; I really see that Jesus has overcome the world and the forces that run it; if we will just believe His word and the Father in heaven that sent Him.

Yes the Lord is good! And Lord I ask you to help me do what this fellow Christian says: wait on you Lord Jesus for your rest and peace; to leave the past and hold onto the future with you; as you said in your word of Isaiah 35:3-4:

"Strengthen the weak hands,
And make firm the feeble knees.
4 Say to those who are fearful-hearted,
“Be strong, do not fear!
Behold, your God will come with vengeance,
With the recompense of God;
He will come and save you."
Amen

Yes, Jesus says He HAS OVERCOME the world. It's DONE. He reminds us to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world and all that is raging at this time because of the enemy, and that is because the enemy knows his time is short. As we see these events unfold, we draw even closer to our God and pray pray pray, my friend.

The devil uses others around us, even the elements of nature to attack and discourage us. He even attacks our minds. But his day of punishment and his destruction is someday coming. If we keep resisting him and his attacks we can prevail and stay out of his destructive plan that he has for us.

I trusted in you, God. As for me, in you've I confided, God. I said, you're my God, his Good and Refuge. My times, the believer’s life, are in you, subject to God's will. Save me from my enemies' hand, stretched out to harm him, and from my persecutors, who torture him with their pursuit.

Prayed for your health: of body, soul & spirit!

"So the question I have; Do you think that the last line "and from those who persecute me" covers the Devil; as well as people who were persecuting King David (King Saul and even David's own family) and for us now?"

As I understand that passage, it isn't directly referring to the devil but is a typical Hebrew parallelism, referring to the same thing.

'Deliver me from the hand of my enemies...from those who persecute me.'

But I agree that an APPLICATION can be made from the intent of the writer there. We know from other Scriptures that the devil & his demonic evil forces is the true enemy of our souls; unbelievers are only held captive & blinded by the real enemy behind the scenes.

Passages like Eph 6:10-19, I Pet 5:6-11; Matt 6:13, Rev 12:10-12, etc. do directly tell us the devil is our enemy & he does persecute & accuses us before God night & day. All Christians around the world experience this suffering as the Apostle Peter said. That is why we pray for one another & for the lost, that Jesus, the 'stronger one' will assail the enemy, take away his armor & set the captives free! Amen!
