So, all those Republican politicians who, with hand on heart, swore to protect pre-existing conditions...?
Were following in President Trumps footsteps: lying to their base.
tulc(hey...maybe the Republicans should now promise Mexico is going to pay for health care?, that lie seems to have real appeal to President Trumps base)

I think this is one of the key differences of Western European and US thinking on social and healthcare. Apart from the idea of universal healthcare paid for through mandatory national insurance, generally (very maybe) across Europe, the idea that those people in society who aren't able to take care of themselves for whatever reason, should have some provision made for them by the rest of the society they live in. Of course this system is open to abuse by those who can but don't, but the original idea at least was that of a safety net for people in the most challenging circumstances. In the US there appears to be a stronger sense that people should take care of themselves and their families. I think there are advantages to both.

News you can use:
The working poor do not qualify for Medicaid. Now. Are you proposing to expand Medicaid to cover people who now use Obamacare?

The Working Poor get treated at any ER room. True they will receive a bill but, most will just throw it in the trash and never pay it. After a few years it goes away.

Seen this done hundreds of times.

Actually, when I was young --
oh I better not go there.

How many people do we have working under the table in this country? Many millions and many I know. Since they have no shown income they all get Medicaid for free.

Working the good old American System.

Most of these ones that I know also Drive pretty good cars.

Just their way at looking at the American dream.

Activist judges are good now?

Why aren't Republican Trump supporters screaming "An activist judge legislating from the bench!"? I think I know... because it's something ruled against Obama and not Trump. Just wait until another federal judge rules against Trump again. He'll get all huffy and he'll call that Judge an "Obama judge" too and we'll hear about all about activist judges from his supporters again. It'll be like old times.

Yes, this would be a legislative solution, and perhaps a reasonable choice.

We've had 2, Obamacare and Trumpcare (Obamacare without the mandate).

What we had yesterday was a judge deciding that the legislative choice were invalid. He decided that the protection of those with pre-existing conditions and the expansion of Medicaid was unconstitutional because the legislature under Trump changed the legislative decision under Obama in a way that the legislators under Obama would have disapproved. This is nonsense.

TEXAS DEBATE: Who pays for health care?

Congress O'Rourke says we could expand Medicaid and introduce Medicare as an option on exchanges.
