My Governor, Governor Brown, went on national television a few weeks ago blaming "Global Warming" for the wildfires burning up the western states, particularly California. Of course, he was making a political statement rather than a factual one for the Democratic Party makes millions of dollars from the environmentalists. Shortly after that statement, the town of Paradise, which is a neighboring town to where I live, burned up.

In my memory, which is a long one, it occurred to me that America has never had an entire town disappear from anything, including wildfires. It also occurred to me that many people, especially young people, took our Governor's message to heart. When a disaster such as this strikes, everyone is comforted to have an answer to their question, "How could something like this have happened?" So, did global warming really burn up Paradise as so many Democratic political pundits are telling you?

No, it did not, and I do not have such a closed mind as to believe there is no truth to global warming. It is definitely warmer than it used to be, and California should have had plenty of rain before November to keep fires away. We are in a drought, and we have been for quite a few years now. What really happened then, how could it be that the entire town of Paradise could be burned to the ground?

For the answer, we need to go back decades, to the 60's and 70's. In those decades, and naturally before that, we had lumberjacks. In fact, we had a thriving lumber industry, not only in the western states, but across America. Then, mainly in the 1970's, we got what was then jokingly referred to as the "treehuggers." These environmentalists were passionate when it came to a fallen tree. It was as if they had a death in the family when a Sugarpine went down. They would do such stunts as chaining themselves to a tree that was about to be felled, thus the name, treehuggers.

The treehuggers could not take on the lumber industry by itself, they needed allies, and the Democratic Party jumped in to help them. This became an alliance even the powerful logging industry could not stop, and it was not long before thousands of lumberjacks were out of business. The Democratic Party, along with the environmentalists, decimated the logging industry, and with it, our forests. How is that possible?

Young people, please understand, we never had wildfires like we have today, even in the 80's and 90's. The truth of the matter is, the logging industry took care of our national forests. They made logging roads which became natural firebreaks. If a tree was dying, they cut it down and harvested it. Now they just lie on the forest floor. The underbrush, which is natural fuel to a fire, was not there, because the lumberjacks would clear it out as they moved through the forest. There is more they did, but you get the idea.

So now, instead of well cared for forests, where, if a fire did break out, it would quickly burn itself out, we have tinderboxes ready to explode because of dead trees and thick underbrush. That's it, that's how Paradise burned, and ask any old person if we used to have forest fires like we do today, back in the day. We did not.

They should just pave Paradise and put up a parking lot, with a pink hotel, a boutique and a swinging hot spot.
Don't it always seem to go that we don't know what we've got till it's gone? Thanks for the input.

Maybe Gov. Brown should "throw his hat into the ring" in January and make another try for the Dem Presidential nomination?
Great idea! Then he can preside over burning up the whole country. Thanks for the input.
