Dreams with a Dark Spiritual Presence...

Hello! I don't know if dreams are really considered a spiritual gift per say, but I do think on occasion God may use dreams to bring our attention to something or make us aware of something for a future experience we may go through. I've had a couple like that amongst hundreds of normal ones, so I thought I'd share an unnerving one I had recently.

I was at my parents house in the living room where there is a large patio door that goes out to their second-floor deck. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw someone outside on the deck wearing a white shirt (it was night by the way). They tapped on the glass of the patio door like they wanted inside, but when I turned around they quickly walked to the side of the deck out of view of the room.

So I went over, opened the patio door and went out and looked over the direction they had gone, but there was no one on the deck!

Then I looked to the opposite direction they had gone and noticed an almost transparent white thing hovering in the air. It began to move slowly past me and I wondered if somehow this was the same person I saw... As it past me I quickly reached out to grab it, and at the same moment it screamed like a man in agony and flew away across the deck and into the darkness. (It was invisible then, but I could follow the sound.)

So I woke up just a little unnerved...

I don't know if there is any meaning at all to that dream. But it was vivid and I kept playing it in my head all day trying to make sense of why the "thing" screamed like that when I reached out to touch it. It felt like I had overstepped a spiritual boundary I wasn't supposed to cross... Like I wasn't actually supposed to know that the "being" was passing in front of me.

One of my dreams was an illustration my pastor used the next morning that I had never heard before then... It was about living for God's opinion instead of the world's. My kid brother had the same dream the same night, no less!

I don’t really know what it means but it sounds like perhaps some kind of evil spirit. I’ve been watching a lot of documentaries about ghost stories which I believe are just demons and I think you probably only really need to start praying for protection when you start seeing that kind of thing while you’re awake.

In Job 4:12-21 there is a description of a frightening spirit visiting one of Jobs friends in one of their dreams and it scared his friend and the spirit started saying things basically questioning the goodness of God. I do believe that demons can attack people in their sleep too.

Wow... Eliphaz is the worst friend to have in job's situation!

About a year ago I was startled awake one night to what seemed like something dark flying across the other side of the room very fast... I've had enough possible encounters like that that I've learned to just pray for protection and go back to sleep. The area I live in is an intense spiritual battleground, I'm convinced. Even overseas missionaries have mentioned that to my family. Churches here are dying steadily and I know of two historic churches that have been turned into a Hindu temple and a mosque respectively. It's sad... But not surprising because they stopped teaching the Bible a long time ago.
