The order is going to repay the money to the diocese, so why should the diocese prosecute?

I'm assuming that the order will apply some internal disciplinary procedures.

Why should they prosecute?

It’s a serious crime; that’s why.

The money was paid back. The seriousness of the offence will be handled within the order. Why should the government be involved? Why should a secular punishment be better than the one that the order will apply?

If you stole from me, and I got the money back and was able to administer my own rough justice, believe me, I would handle the punishment my own way.

They broke the law. It’s a crime. They should be prosecuted under the law the same as any other criminal.

The diocese is under no obligation to press charges.

And the nuns should be punished, but why not let the order do it? The order has the authority to administer far harsher punishments than the government is allowed to.

The order has the authority to put the nuns in solitary confinement on B&W for the rest of their lives. I'm not saying that they will (in fact, I doubt it very much), but they could.

There's actually not all that much difference between a jail and a convent.

This story is proof that “Holy Rolling” does not only exist with Pentecostal churches!
If they won the jackpot some might think they had outside "supernatural" help! (I'm not saying where from!) :)

Last time I was in jail I got out of my cell 5 times in 10 months for TOC. I also went 40 days without a shower. Will the nuns be going 40 days without a shower? Will they be going 10 months with no time out of cell to exercise?

These nuns may escape man’s judgement...

Well, of course they will. It's a female religious order. They are nuns. It will be women's judgement that they face.

If they shower in holy water, then it should last for a very long time!
