If one person let's say Freddy, did something horrible to another person, let's say Chris.

If Freddy repents and is sorry for the things he done and he apologises to Chris, Chris forgives him but does not EVER want to see him again, what happens when they both go to heaven?

What is true forgivness? I understand there are some people who we just dont want in our life, but did Chris really forgive Freddy?

Will Freddy have to avoid Chris for all eternity? What will Jesus do about the situation when they see each other in heaven?

If Chris gets to heaven, he will have forgiven Freddy ...

Chris will automatically change his mind in heaven and be willing to fellowship with Freddy due to his enlarged understanding of the nature of sin, love, and forgiveness.

Minds in heaven will not be changed. This is why we must become perfect to go to heaven. If we still sin here we will sin in heaven too, so heaven is closed for us.

Given the extreme seriousness of Jesus' warning about forgiveness, this may be one that we have to get right (at least make a serious attempt) and not leave waiting until the "great by and by."

After telling the parable of the "Unforgiving Servant," Jesus then stated bluntly:

"This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”

I believe this is the only parable that Jesus immediately explained to His audience...He took it that seriously that nobody miss the meaning.

That might be a factor of only harmonious people being saved, rather than disharmonious people being changed.

I'm not saying that's necessarily the case, but I would not be taking for granted, "No worries! Jesus will fix me of my unforgiving heart!"

When Chris truly forgives Freddy, Chris will have no desire to be separated from him(if physical harm is not a concern, that it). If he does....forgiveness has not taken place.....and what ever you believe to be the fate of one who does not forgive, would he his fate.

That's the thing, I understand life is short and there are certain people you dont want in your life. That is not my concern.

What if they both go to heaven, will they have to avoid each other?

In this instance Chris wants nothing to do with Freddy for the rest of his life and possibly ever again.

What is true forgivness?

This would depend on what you believe are the qualities of those who gain entry to heaven. How is desiring to avoid someone, the same as loving your neighbor as yourself?

This would not be in the mind of anyone in heaven.......and if you see my 2nd reply, I believe we will not even be carrying the cares of this present world.....there.

What is true forgivness?

I believe forgiveness if evident when you can think about a person or situation that once hurt you, and have no more negative emotions or thoughts concerning them.

Note, avoiding one that can hurt you again, is wise, and not a sign of un-forgiveness......and , in heaven, there will be no more hurt...which would eliminate this one reason to avoid someone.

I completely understand what you are saying, but if a guy stalks a women and even if the guy is so sorry and stops, would a women HAVE or even want to invite him back into her life when she forgives him? I think not.

This would be a safety issue, and a valid concern for a long time, since no man knows another's heart. But to harbor a desire to never be around a person, who has changed their ways, even passed the grave.....would be a problem..........If it remains.....those two may have to decide, at the gates, which one can enter and who must turn back......

So one can enter and the other must go to hell? What the heck?

Yeah so what would happen if the guy must stay away from a girl in heaven if she wants to be away from him forever? Even if he changed his ways...

I dont believe personalities, associated with names will be in heaven..... There will be only one there.....one

"And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven."

You are describing a "Nirvana" existence.

Yeah so what would happen if the guy must stay away from a girl in heaven if she wants to be away from him forever? Even if he changed his ways...

So, then, this would be "God's Conundrum:"

Person A in his heart is prepared to live a loving relationship in Heaven with everyone for eternity.

Person B in his heart stipulates that never in all eternity does he wish to meet Person A.

Jesus has said this:

"This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”

That statement leaves no room for debate.

What is true forgiveness?
That is a great question  Jesus expects us to forgive those who have asked for our forgiveness, "from our hearts" .. Matthew 18:35. The question is, what did He really mean by that?

If "Freddy" truly repents/asks "Chris" to forgive him and Chris chooses to "forgive" him in the manner that you've described above, what, if anything, has truly been changed? Has their relationship been healed in anyway (and if it hasn't, what has Chris' "kind" of forgiveness accomplished)?

Your example makes me wonder about the nature of true forgiveness, as well what the purpose of it might be (especially if what "Chris" did is an example of the kind of forgiveness that God intends for us).

Of course, @RaymondG brings up the interesting point as well. Let's say that someone is raped and her rapist repents and asks her to forgive him. If she forgives him but does not, at the same time, fully "trust" him (such that she would not fear being alone with him in the future), has she truly forgiven her rapist from her heart?

Like I said, I think you have asked a very interesting & important question.

Thanks :)

Again, this would depend on what you believe........if you believe all who dont enter the gates to go to hell, then yes, this is the fate of the one who cant bear to live with the other....

Yeah so what would happen if the guy must stay away from a girl in heaven if she wants to be away from him forever? Even if he changed his ways...

This is a scenarios that, I believe, cannot happen. The problems of this present world will not follow into the next.....Our robes must be spotless......and if there is just one speck left..... we would not be fit for the kingdom of heaven....
