• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I went to an Open Evening in a London university and I told a psychology lecturer that I have paranoid schizophrenia. I sort of wanted to experience here something and I did. She sort of froze a bit and told me that one need to be emotional stable in order to study. She doesn't know me, so came up with this. She then what ever I said, didn't liked. I said if I get back into uni, I will stay there for some years. I said I don't really know exactly which field I want to study.
I was so angry afterwards. Schizophrenia is a stigma, similar to being a bank robber, prostitute and terrorist. I work, I pay tax, I have an accountant and get high merits on some home study course lessons. Is all for nothing, as you are seen ill for ever. You can't call yourself being healthy.
And I had once therapy and the guy wanted just talk about schizophrenia. They get obsessed, you have to hide constantly. No one knows I have this and for what, when even a trained psychologist frowns, then what is the point.

IMO she’s an idiot. You said it: you work, you pay tax. That’s more than a lot of people without an illness (of any kind) do! You get good marks on home study so go for it! If you didn’t feel you were in the right place to do it, you wouldn’t have looked so seriously at it. You know you far better than a prejudiced stranger.

Aside, I hope seeing the doctor was useful. Meds should be providing more help not less.

Yes I asked the doctor what was going on and he said that the gov. wanted the review. He gave me double of the meds then.
I got into a university to study Criminology with Psychology from February. So this is home study course and they don't know what I have exactly. I did home study courses before and got High Merits or Destinctions, but I haven't done A-Level English yet. And I am going to pay it and continue to work, building up my business.
