I work for a large medical center in the Northeast where once a year we have to logon and complete various mandatory learning requirements. They cover anything from corporate compliance to a major terror event.

This year they included a learning on gender pronouns and how to interact with those who are transgender.

I watched the video and read the pdf's but felt a little compromised when I had to answer multiple choice questions asking me about Ze and Zir pronouns. The questions were framed in a way where I couldn't answer in the negative.

I didn't agree with the beliefs ideas being put forward but I answered the questions to pass the shirt quizzes.

For those asking what the heck are Ze and Zur pronouns.

One refers to a person with ze and hir or zir typically (a) when their gender is unknown, and one wishes to avoid assuming their gender, or (b) when they are neither male nor female in gender, making he and she (and also either/or terms like s/he or (s)he) inappropriate and potentially hurtful.

Also there is Ze and Hir

Ze and hir” is the most popular form of gender-free pronoun in the online genderqueer community, derived from the earlier “sie and hir,” which were considered too feminine/female-sounding since “sie” is German for “she” (among other things), and “hir” was a feminine pronoun in Middle English.

I was left feeling a little compromised that I had to take these learnings and felt compelled to answer in the positive. I was never quite asked if Inagrred but the question were not opened ended and I had to answer a, b, c , d or all of the above.

I also noticed various behavioral health groups that are affiliated with the hospital have listed at the end of their email signature a blurb listing their personal pronouns. It smacked of virtue signaling and borderline infantile.

What say ye?

Brainwashing. We have been warned. Common sense is becoming extinct. Lord have mercy. I refuse to lose my individuality and individual thoughts and beliefs to be accepted and tow the line. Diversity? What a joke.

I agree Michie. I had to take the learnings as part of my employment. I didn't feel that I was agreeing with the questions but I felt disappointed that I had to answer whether a definition was a, b or c.

Between this and some other personal frustrations I felt compelled to read psalm 16 and boy that was from the Lord.

I suppose you have to do what you have to do, answering the questions "correctly" to keep your job, but if you keep your head in reality, that's what's important.

I've included a great Fr. Mike Schmitz video; it doesn't specifically address the pronouns you're wondering about, but it is about transgenderism, and the best take on it I've ever heard.

It moves ever closer to the outright marginalization of anyone who holds to Christian values. No longer is it just business owners, but soon everyday citizens are going to be in a place where they either have to give in to the insanity and compromise their beliefs or refuse to join in the insanity and suffer potentially damaging penalties as a result. How is it that the very people who have equality and respect for all peoples written into their Bible are the victims of "tolerance"?

I am an employee at a small family-owned Christian business and I sometimes wonder when it's our turn...

I know what would have happened if I refused to take the learning. I would have been questioned in a tone implying that I was intolerant or mentally ill.

I hear ya, OP. It's a tough position to be put in.

When I first moved to the city I currently live in, I went about getting myself established with a doctor. In the process of filling out intake forms, I noticed that there was a new section with new questions and optional check-boxes that hadn't been on any forms I'd ever seen at my previous doctors' offices. The new section was "gender identity" and the options (among 6 or 7; can't remember them all) included the obvious male, female, and a rather puzzling "I don't know". I pointed this new section out to a friend who had come with me and she said that's really strange, and she'd never seen anything like that before either.

It's an odd world that we're living in, and sometimes we really do need to just check the appropriate boxes, get the useless certificate or whatever, and move on. I agree with Rev. Alex about keeping reality alive in your head, where this stuff can't get to it unless you let it in. Still, it is tough. You have my sympathies, for whatever little that's worth. Lord have mercy.

You are entirely entitled to your own personal pronouns, as complicated and silly as you can imagine. Then make them adhere to your personal pronouns or sue the company for the whole mess. Just make up something really really crazy and watch them screw it up on you.

If you are already financially secure you might want to make an announcement at the next such meeting that you are quitting rather than to complement the emperor's new clothes. You might have some other people who will go out the door with you.

There is this story from a few years ago of a University of Michigan student who did something similar by putting down his preferred pronoun (which the staff would then be required to refer to him by, as part of the university's policy on preferred pronouns) as "His Majesty".

Checkmate, Your Majesty. ;)

Not financially secure and am at the age where I can't afford to be out of work.

We actually take the learnings online and have over 15,000 employees. I am sure many dislike the subtle bullying.

Oh my gosh, that's ludicrous. Why don't they just rephrase the question then and ask 'what's between your legs'. Hopefully, most people will know the answer to that. Don't make it a fill in the blank question or some people might answer 'my water bottle' or 'my handbag'.
