Consider for a moment, the state of the world, today, and over the past fifteen hundred some odd years. You can even consider it in this state, all along, all the way back to Egypt, or Sodom, or to the original Babylon, which existed before the flood.

People see the solution to their problems as something they can handle, by their own selves. They look to 'get together', to corral up groups, and take over religion and the state, in this manner.

Maybe it is Nationalism, or Communism, or Democracy. Maybe it is this leader or that leader. Maybe you just have to have some people who will get out there and lead. Like how the people of Israel were not content with God as their king. So, instead, they got Saul.

The answer is not to go and start some church, or go and figure out the right and best principles, nor to shield yourself in some small group of people.

Where is 'the beast', where is 'the false prophet', where is 'Babylon'. It is not us, every one of these groups and leaders will say. But, it just might be all of us. Because the Kingdom of God is not of flesh and blood, but of Spirit.

God showed this to James, John, and Peter at the Mount of Transfiguration. It is a new being, one which is an entirely different state to the being of flesh. We are shown this manner of new being, in great detail, in Revelation, but it is mentioned elsewhere, as well.

Rituals, fine clothes, mansions, monetary infrastructure, absurd titles, and willingness to just go out there and pose as someone -- none of that is necessary. God exiled us to figurative Babylon, because we were flesh. We could go no further.

Just as the statue of Nebuchadnezzar has been here all along, so too, has the Beast and Babylon, which she rides. Certainly, there is their destruction in the last days, and that is yet to come. Babylon, the Beast, and the False Prophet are all destroyed, along with them, 'all flesh'. Unholy trinities abound.

All of these modern principles everyone so upholds, are from old, from the nations of the statue. None of these things are new -- not even the concept that we have risen up via the forces of chaos from the primordial ooze. (As one poster kindly reminded me of, pointing to the modern theory of evolution. One very much like the old creation myth of Babylon.)

The "rider on the white horse" was not Constantine, nor metaphoric for some institution or even an idea, not even the Bible. It is, obviously, Jesus, 'the Great King'. And those who come with him are not people, but angels.

What destroys the statue is not man, but 'a rock carved out not by human hands' falling on it.

'God puts all of Jesus enemies under his feet'.

Even the most vast and respected of modern institutions are not new, and they most surely are of man. They are not secretly communing with angels, nor aliens. They are just flesh and blood. Human beings. Mortals.

Evidence of God's favor is not that they have power and authority. But, 'Not by authority nor by might, but by My Spirit'.

People do not like waiting, and they do not like the works of their hands, and the words from their mouths... to be meaningless. Ineffective. Useless.

They want to do something. They are propelled by anxiety.

They do not trust God.

We saw this after the liberation of the slaves from Egypt. What did God have them do? Because of their lack of trust in their own spies, they had to go and wander about in the Wilderness for forty years. While the sign of God was always before their face: the manna from Heaven, the cloud, and the pillar of fire.

Why is Sodom mentioned in Revelation? Because after these things take place, you will not want to look back.

As for now, as it has been over the past many years, be wary of worshiping institutions and the people who represent them. Or anything that comes from them. Just as Babylon was a band-aid, a temporary structure, so is modern science and medicine. So is journeying to the stars, or the internet, or toys we have to bide our time and wile away our hours.

There are no solutions there. The solution is in the Spirit of God, within.

If this was by man, then people would boast that their hands have done this. Just as they boast all the time. This is what drives the news, and the hustle and bustle of the world.

Great stuff!! especially this..

It hadn't even occurred to me what the metaphor of 'behind' might have alluded to!

Much food for thought and yet, oddly, not too nihilistic!

I wonder if that's why Noah's two eldest had to walk 'backwards' into the tent?

After reading this, I couldn't believe I read the entire post. So I read it again. Nicely said.

They walked backwards into the tent because they didn't want to gaze upon their fathers naked body .... I mean like .... would you? LOL I prefer my parents keep their clothes on. LOL

lol... I don't mind, Dad needed help when he fell over in the shower once, that was challenging!

I thought it was because Noah was drunk, rather than naked but then I also concluded that it was precisely because he was drunk that his inhibitions had been compromised and he was 'revealing' too much of his vulnerable side.

Not at all nihilist... our job is to save.

'God so loved the world, He sent His only son to save it.'

'I did not come to condemn the world, but to save it.'
