Why do some people believe that Jesus was milquetoast? Clearly, Jesus was the opposite. However, what some believe about Jesus being The God of Love is Faithful and True. However, that is not all He was, and is. He is more "complex" than a Guy who is our coolest Buddy or even a figment. He is a Jealous God who is to be worshipped.

Psalm 25:6
Remember, O Lord, Thy tender mercies and Thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
(from) Psalm 36:7
Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Thy wings.
2 Chronicles 19:9
And he charged them, saying, “Thus shall ye do in the fear of the Lord, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.
(from) Matthew 5:44
But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you,
John 15:15
Henceforth I call you not servants, for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard of My Father, I have made known unto you.
(from) 1John 4:8
God is love.
Acts 8:22
Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God that perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
Matthew 7:1
“Judge not, that ye be not judged.

I use these verses because they only see these qualities about God. That is what I mean by some people, included believers see God in only this light. However, it is true, but the problem is not with God obviously, but with people who misinterpret even these verses. As I have written, these are the verses that are true, but are often misinterpreted.
1. Merciful
2. Shows lovingkindness
3. Trustworthy
4. Love our enemies
5. Doing good for our enemies
6. He is our friend
7. Love
8. Forgiver of sins
9. Only God can judge.

I believe in what the Bible says. The Bible is the inspired Word of God. Jesus is Lord, Savior, and Judge. He will soon return. Believers will be with Him forever. I am just concerned that too many people often see Him in that light and neglect other qualities about Jesus that too is in the Bible.

Genesis 18:24-26
24 Perhaps there be fifty righteous within the city; wilt Thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
25 That be far from Thee to do in this manner — to slay the righteous with the wicked; and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from Thee! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”
26 And the Lord said, “If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.”
Luke 12:51
Suppose ye that I have come to give peace on earth? I tell you, nay, but rather division.
Genesis 6:7
And the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, and the creeping thing and the fowls of the air, for I repent that I have made them.”
Genesis 6:13
And God said unto Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
Genesis 19:29
And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow when He overthrew the cities in which Lot dwelt.
Exodus 20:5
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them; for I, the Lord thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me,
Exodus 32:12
Why should the Egyptians speak and say, ‘For mischief did He bring them out, to slay them in the mountains and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from Thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against Thy people.
Numbers 12:9
And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them, and He departed.
(From) Deuteronomy 7:4
So will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you and destroy thee suddenly.
Deuteronomy 9:19
For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure wherewith the Lord was wroth against you to destroy you. But the Lord hearkened unto me at that time also.
Ezekiel 5:15
So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall execute judgments upon thee in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I, the Lord, have spoken it.
Nahum 1:2
God is jealous, and the Lord avengeth; the Lord avengeth and is furious. The Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries, and He reserveth wrath for His enemies.
1 Corinthians 1:27
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
Job 30:21
Thou art become cruel to me; with Thy strong hand Thou opposest Thyself against me.
Job 31:23
For destruction from God was a terror to me, and by reason of His highness I could not endure.
Matthew 21:12
And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those who sold doves,
Luke 11:41
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.”

I also provide these verses so that I can further illustrate God's other qualities. Sadly, it seems that these particular qualities are not written or talked about. People talk of God's love, as far as the above qualities, but not as much about those qualities that would seem to be the opposite of what they know about God.

1. Has and will destroyed cities because they sinned against Him and not repented
2. He will however, spare those who are righteous, even if only a few will be saved.
3. He will give not peace on earth, but division.
4. Grieves and is wrathful at the sins of man.
5. Destroys and judges those who are unrepentant and judges the righteous as well.
6. Fury against those unrepentant who sins against Him
7. Wrath against His enemies
8. Avenges His enemies and shows mercy to those who love Him
9. Chooses only those who are the called, not necessarily the qualified
10. Cruelty of God according to Job, who has suffered greatly
11. Anger against those who disrespect the Temple
12. Calls out the Pharisees for they are not the godly leaders they claim.

These verses below show that Jesus is not a milquetoast God who is our Buddy or Pal. While He is a Friend to His Children who are believers, He is truly the only One who Judges as well. He is to be obeyed and we are to repent of our sins. God is loving yes, but He is also a jealous God who avenges and gets angry at unrepentant sinners for their lack of respect toward Him. Why can't all of us see Jesus the way that He is?

He is truly all of the above. He isn't just meek and mild. He isn't distant. He is all-knowing and all-powerful. He knows what He is doing, for He is also the God of prophecy. Just because Jesus saves us doesn't mean we can still sin and claim to be believers and then say, only God will judge. Godly living requires living for Him on a daily basis. So it is a question that I have just wondered about. What I have been writing about is something I have been guilty of. So, why did I even not see that God is the Lord of all of the above?

Yes, man naturally likes to re-create God in our own image, so we should NOT imagine God, but read His immutable Word. We need to see Him as He is, as the Bible clearly shows ---if one will read His Word. Jesus said in John 14: "if you have seen Me you have seen the Father, so why do you say: show us the Father?" God-the Father has revealed Himself in His "...beloved Son", so if we don't have the Son of God in our heart we will have no part in God. That might come as a surprise to some professing Christians. It is much the reason many professing Christians are struggling with having a relationship with our Creator-God, I believe.
