I’m a Southern Baptist, but I’m wondering if there is a church out there that might be closer to what I’m look for. I was raised in the denomination and I don’t have an issue with most of the doctrine, and my disagreements are relatively minor. Mainly, I think Southern Baptists tend to be solo scriptura rather than sola scriptura. I also think women can be pastors, but I don’t think it is anything worth leaving a church over.

I’m generally in line without the core tenets of Evangelicalism, though I may differ on particular details, but worship-wise, I wouldn’t mind something a little more introspective, and I think Evangelical churches tend to be geared more towards extraverted, or at leas that seems to be the case here in the South.

I’m drawn to Quakerism, but decided against converting as I’m a Calvinist, and I disagree with the conservative/traditionalist Quaker view of Scripture.

As for my beliefs, I affirm the core tenets of Christianity as well as five solae of the Reformation. Regarding the ordinances/sacraments, I’m torn between the Baptist and Quaker perspectives.

I don’t have any particular eschatological view other than I think there is a place for national and ethnic Israel in End Times prophecy, but dispensationalism does take some things to the extreme.

I’m uncertain about the Creation vs. Evolution debate, as I see both sides when it comes to understanding the book of Genesis. I’m willing to accept an allegorical/non-literal account of the Creation Act, but other than that, I think the rest of the book from Abraham on is literal history.

Politically, I’m still figuring things out, but I lean libertarian for now.

Is there a good fit for me?

I think it's okay here for me to give my standard answer when someone is asking which church they should go to. That is the Orthodox Church. It is the original Church founded in the first century and has preserved the Christian faith since the beginning.

Hello, 9Rock9.

Hmmm. The Baptist and the Quaker views on sacraments put them both near the same end of the Christian spectrum IMO, so if that is a hint we readers should pick up on before recommending some church that is wildly different, I would suggest giving Quakerism a closer look.

As you probably know, the historic Quaker meeting house, no clergy, no ritual, no sacraments style of things still exists, but there are now a lot of so-called Evangelical Quakers who are more like the average non-denominational church (more like, not identical to). I would recommend taking a look at one of them if you are near a congregation.
