Checking in.....
Right now I'm not sure where I stand. I attend Mass each Sunday and on holy days of obligation. But I've been struggling with sins and haven't been to confession in a long while, so I haven't been receiving holy Communion when I go to Mass. And I don't trust Pope Francis, and I don't know what to do about it.I have been meaning to clarify what I mean by practicing Catholic but have been sidetracked time and again. What I mean by that is following your obligations towards Mass and the teachings of the Church. No matter how imperfectly. I guess the key is just trying to hang in there.
We had a homily a few months ago where the pastor spelled it out about contraception with zero equivocation. And he did get a lot of thanks for it afterwards. Not a traditionalist parish by any means but an active orthodox one to be sure.I don't trust Pope Francis either - or my own bishop, and I'm not a huge fan of local clergy. Even when they don't do wrong, there is a huge level of omission. I may have heard abortion mentioned once in a decade, divorce possibly once, contraception - oh man never ever!
If I list my complaints most Traditional Catholics agree, most modernized ones don't.
Here you are largely on your own, or possibly have a small support group of fellow parishioners, if you want to do anything more than get your check marks for attendance.
