Mark 5 :43 :And he charged them much that no man should know this: and he commanded that [something] should be given her to eat.

Is it disobedience that after jesus told them that no man should know of the miracle he did. Cause not only did they tell people they wrote it in the gospel for the world to read .

In the gospels Jesus never reveals to anyone who he is. He only allows people to say to him who they believe he is. It's symbolic of the faith it takes to recognize him.

He says also that those who recognize him in person are blessed, but that those who believe in him having not seen him are even more blessed.

The gospels are handed down to us who have not seen him so that we will believe. So no, it is not wrong for the writer to tell us.

It was not needful to publish, at that time, what had happened. It doesn't tell us why in this instance, but other occasions do tell us such as:

Matthew 17:9
And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.”

Matthew 16:20
Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.

Jesus' identity as the Messiah ultimately got Him killed. Knowing this would happen, Jesus was careful about revealing who He was.

Luke 9:51
When the days drew near for him to be taken up [crucified], he set his face to go to Jerusalem.

It was a matter of timing. Jesus needed to manage his ministry so that He didn't get mobbed with people so that He was no longer free to move about as He needed to do.

Yes, it was "disobedience" to fail to keep His secret at that time by those who did not do as He asked. But being too concerned about it can be just legalism. It doesn't matter. Jesus accomplished what He needed to do. The Gospel writers were not under that constraint. It was right for them to write what they did.

And welcome to CF. :)

It was probably known to Jesus but this shows he was not looking for public acknowledgement. He also did not want the disciples to speak about the transfiguration until after he had completed his mission but it is good it was recorded. I also recorded the illumination I witnessed so it would not be lost after my passing. You can find it here..Commentary on “The Light”

I take it to mean, He Jesus didn't want them running out into the street and yelling hey you people you won't believe what Jesus just did.

I don't think He meant not to record it in the Gospels.

Your question goes alongside of this one.

Mark 3:12
And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known.

Why would He say these things, what was His purpose?

It's kind of the same thing along these lines in Mark 16:8

7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
8 And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.

If they didn't tell anyone (which is pretty funny because they were directly instructed TO tell people), then how did it make it into the story? Well, eventually they did.

The reason Jesus said this occasionally is because He didn't want people to believe in Him based only on miracles He performed. Because of this:

Matthew 24

24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders that would deceive even the elect, if that were possible.

and .... it is recorded in scripture so we may be forewarned.

The word sign in the Greek is:

sémeion: a sign
Original Word: σημεῖον, ου, τό
Part of Speech: Noun, Neuter
Transliteration: sémeion
Phonetic Spelling: (say-mi'-on)
Definition: a sign
Usage: a sign, miracle, indication, mark, token.

2nd Corinthians 11

14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

We are informed to be careful about what we perceive as a miracle, the Holy Spirit helps one to discern.

How to know?

The miracle glorifies God and Him only. Miracles always declare that God is active in our world and that he can disrupt the activities of nature to reveal his character and purposes. The principal test of any miracle—then, now, or in the future—is this: Who receives the glory? This can be a very subtle matter, for self-glorification is not always obvious. We should be on guard against anyone, however extraordinary his deeds, who glorifies himself (like Simon the magician who, in Acts 8:9)

God Bless.
