We are hosting my in-laws and an aunt and uncle from my wife's side of the family. My parents are deceased, and my surviving sister and her hubby live well out of state.

Early afternoon meal: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, cranberry stuff, dinner rolls, noodles, veggy tray, pies, etc etc.

We are going to have Thanksgiving dinner at our Millennial daughter and son-in-law's townhouse.

This is like that night twenty-five years ago when we first heard her climb out of her bed, go to the bathroom, take care of business, flush the toilet, and then get back into her bed. My wife and I gave each other a high-five that night.

Time for another high-five.

For the first time we are not hosting Thanksgiving dinner. Two of our girl's families live in state and we all get together. This year one of our s-i-ls decided it was time for them to be the hosts. It will be a traditional meal.
We'll be bringing his favorite homemade apple pie.
He also hosts Christmas breakfast every year and he cooks it all himself.

what are you all doing for Thanksgiving?

We're doing the usual "extended family" shin-dig! There'll be the usual gobs-and-gobs of food, dessert, and pepto-bismol for all! Then there'll be the football game, then some card and table games, followed by more and more dessert and whip cream, and finally a movie for all 1 or 2 dozen folks to fall asleep during which they'll spit up over themselves. :sorry: ....GOOD TIMES!!!!

Driving 12 hours to NC......first time with our 16 month son. We will stop half way, but I am a little nervous of the drive with him for that long. I like driving, so no issues there, just praying he takes it OK.

Once we get to NC we are going to be with my family for a couple days before turning around on Saturday to head back to FL.

This your firstborn?

Our firstborn hated being in the car for the first year. Our second couldn’t have cared less and would give us no grief.

Ha, yes, first. He does not mind being in the car generally. So far the longest drive was 2.5 hours and he did fine. The drive up should be easy enough since we are breaking it up and he will sleep the first day as we are leaving around 6pm and driving 6 hours. I am more concerned of the drive home with likely traffic. Sometimes the drive goes from 12 hours to 14 or 16 if traffic is bad....

The last few years we have had Thanksgiving dinner with our middle daughter who lives fairly close. That did not work out this year so we are going down to my wife's sisters house 4 hours south in Virginia Beach. Her children and their families will be there as will my son and his family (he is stationed at Norfolk Naval base)

Following that, we have the weekend of Black Friday shopping in Williamsburg VA. (which we have been doing for about 25 years)

When my youngest was about 6 months old I took the kids on a 7 hour drive in the night to visit their grandmother for the weekend (and to give my wife a little break for her birthday).

The drive was pretty uneventful except for the 2-3 times he woke up needing to be fed.

Must have been a sight for anyone that happened to look in - some guy in a gas station parking lot at 11 at night cradling/feeding a 6 month old...lol

My daughter will fly from college in Ft Lauderdale to our home in NC late Wednesday. Thanksgiving we'll bring my father (who lives in a retirement home 4 miles from us) over and spend the day together. I'm sure my daughter and son will run around doing stuff a lot over the weekend. Then she flys back Sunday. I'll run about 12 miles sometime Saturday.

First, my husband and I will work with our sons on schoolwork, because they have make up work to do to raise their grades. Hubs will take on physics and spanish, I will take on lit. We've been working all week on it all. Then we will go to my ILs house for dinner. I am bringing green bean casserole and a crockpot chocolate lava cake dessert. The meal will mostly be traditional, but with a slight Cuban twist to the recipes.

Not American (Canadian with American mum & lived in US for 13 years) but celebrate thanksgiving anyways over here in Scotland. Just me & DH (who's Scottish) and we Skype my family back in the US to chat. Having Duck instead of Turkey cause cant get a good turkey till closer to Christmas. (& yes, we celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving last month to :D )

For the first time in 20+ years I'm NOT doing Thanksgiving or Christmas for family. We just moved into our retirement home that we built, and I announced to H we are going OUT for dinner today! I'm planning on being a big bum today. We are driving to the restaurant, and driving home. lol that will be my accomplishment today, and I'm looking forward to it. lol!

We went to my sister in law's place. Between their clan and our own, we had 27 people there.
