Was it God the Father, the Holy Spirit, Jesus or all three? I've heard all kinds of different teachings so I'm curious as to what the real answer is. Who rose Jesus from the dead?

Question: "Who resurrected Jesus?"

Answer:
In Acts 2:24, Peter says that “God raised [Jesus] from the dead” (see also Romans 8:11 and 2 Corinthians 4:14). Romans 1:4 (and possibly 1 Peter 3:18) seems to say that the Spirit raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:11 clearly says that God will resurrect believers “through His Spirit”). And in John 2:19 Jesus predicts that He will raise Himself from the dead (see also John 10:18). So who exactly resurrected Jesus from the dead? Was it the Father, the Son, or the Spirit?

The basic answer is that “God has raised . . . Jesus to life” (Acts 2:32). The Father is God, and the Father raised His Son to life on the third day after the crucifixion (Romans 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:4). The Spirit is also God, and the Spirit had a part in raising Jesus from the dead. The Son is also God, and the Son, too, was responsible for His own resurrection.

How can a dead man resurrect himself? Jesus was more than a man who died; He was the eternal Son of God incarnate. Wicked men could kill His body, but they could not change His eternal nature or diminish His divine power. In John 10:17–18 Jesus says something that no mere mortal could ever say: “I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again.” No one else in the history of the world has ever had the authority both to lay down his life and raise it up again.

Furthermore, Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25). He did not say, “My Father is the resurrection.” He claimed to be the resurrection Himself; life resides with Jesus, and He has absolute authority over life and death (Revelation 1:18). Jesus is God. He could say He would raise up His body on the third day because He is part of the One Being of God.

Who resurrected Jesus from the dead? God did, and by that we mean all three Persons of the Trinity were involved. All three Persons of the Trinity participated in creation (1 Corinthians 8:6; Genesis 1:1–2). All three are involved in salvation (John 3:6, 16). And all three are responsible for the resurrection of Christ Jesus.

Stick around for the answer when Jesus comes. Or, you can find out when you die.

Well don't keep us in suspense, of course you know the answer. Tell us Monk Brendan, who raised Jesus from the dead? The answer should be obvious but I would be interested in hearing your thoughts if you don't mind.

The Trinity is not separate - they are one. There is scriptural evidence depicting each separately, but when you read all Scripture, there is not one more responsible; they all raised Jesus from the dead.

The Godhead (Trinity)
John 1 explicitly states that all things are created through the Word and Jesus did say in three days I will raise the Temple.

The Godhead is the only answer.

So according to acts 10 it was all three that rose Jesus from the dead? How can someone who's already dead raise himself from the dead? That must be something only God can do.
The Divine Word of the Father did not die. The human soul and body of God the Word were separated, so the humanity of God the word underwent human death (this is what human death is). The Holy Trinity, the Father, His Word (Son), and His Spirit, brought the soul and body of Jesus back together (that is, God the Holy Trinity raised Jesus Christ from the dead).

Who rose Jesus from the dead?

Gods spirit lived in Jesus and still does to this day, Gods power raised him up as he said John 5:19, “The Son can do nothing of Himself”

But he did it anyhow!

The fullness of the Godhead (Trinity) dwells in Jesus Christ. Nicene Creed declares The Father and The Son are the One Substance.

It's difficult to understand, because God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit; ONE God but each "person" has a different role.

Oh yes. I used to not as an early Christian as some members of the forums might remember but I do believe that today. I was just stating that Jesus playing a part in his resurrection from the dead is further proof out there that he is God.

God the Father raised Jesus from the dead, to prove to people that he is who he claimed to be, Romans 1:4.
Jesus was, and is God - but when he was on earth he was also 100% human. Trying to argue that a human being raised himself from the dead wouldn't work - non Christians in particular might see that only as another reason not to believe.

Agree with all the parts of Godhead take part in it.

God the father has His part in the resurrection
  • Acts 5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree
  • Acts 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten the.
Holy spirit has His part in the resurrection
  • Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Jesus is 100% Man to be tempted and die as human. As a sacrificial lamb, to prove that human can live a perfect life so that we can be saved. But He is 100% God to resurrect as well.
  • 1Pe 1:16-21 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
i feel like this verse can explain their role. What do you guys think? Jesus is chosen before the foundation of the world.

Scripture explicitly states that all three (Godhead) raised up the man Jesus.

John 2:19-22

19Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”

20They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” 21But the temple he had spoken of was his body.22After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.

Matthew 26:61
Finally two came forward 61and declared, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’ ”

It seems like that's the truth. Thanks for clarifying about the Trinity too.

I didn't know that about creation. The Trinity really is wondrous.
