It is less likely that this could happen without him knowing it as the person who had to sign off... Then to say the Trump didn't know about meetings happening his own building.

It takes a lot of contortion to say that he wouldn't have known about this. And the Episcopal report called the investigation into Grassi a witch hunt .

A bishop president of a conference would either know about this or be the most irresponsible and negligent head of a conference.

They have direct working responsibility for the products of the conference

The media and anti-Catholics would've had the man castrated and electrocuted to death. That was until the accuser was shown to have lied and he later admitted he lied.

How many do you want? In his book he claimed that there was never a case of sexual abuse in his diocese. But six victims have said they personally contacted him about their cases and we're never contacted back.

That doesn't include the Grassi case where he was part of issuing statements from the conference saying that the victims were lying and trying to blur the image of the church. And the head of the conference that commissioned multiple dossiers several thousand pages trying to discredit the victims. Victims who were refuge street children.

You think that the president of a conference of Bishops would not know about several thousand pages of documents and an investigation commissioned by their own conference?

Except the courts discredited the reports and the decision against the priest was upheld. the victim remains Catholic and was threatened when he attempted to contact the Pope.

They produced several thousand pages of propaganda to attack children.

But then you're speculating on what he "must've known."

I'll keep and open mind on the issue and how Pope Francis handles it

Until I see him fail, I'll keep him as my Pope.

I will also keep him as my Pope and praise his good and call out the bad. That is what we should do.

He directly refused a meeting with victims who were threatened with violence when they asked to meet with him so he could make a statment to stop the threats. Read up on the whole Grassi case, it is an eye opener.

He was the head of the conference and because of the complexity and fame of the priest in the case it was canonically refered to the next higher ordinary...him. Sorry but he was involved. Read all the articles and evidence. You are reading it piecemeal for the first time and trying to defend a conclusion you want. I went through it for weeks. It is daming and should cause anyone to question his genuine commitment to transparancy and the victims.

The Globe has no part in crux and has not for some time. The Knights of Columbus do.
