Hello all....

I'm a happy recluse living in the Philippines with my third and True Love wife. I have a passion for Christ's Logia, and have been interpreting and writing on them for almost 50 years. The following, that describes my 'essence', talks about me in the third person.

THE WRITER: (is discussed in the third person)

~ is a sharer who shares Truth through the written Word accompanied by Love. Sharer roughly equates with 'teacher', a misnomer he rejects as meaningless.

~ is a secular deist adherent of the Wisdom of Christ, Lao Tzu, Pythagoras, Plato, Aristotle, Confucius, Spinoza, The Dhammapada, and the Chandogya Upanishad, and an inclusive eclectic pantheistic metempsychosic lapsarian Number human being that chooses mental freedom as distinct from the mental slavery of the professed philosophers.

~ mourns the death of the transcendental philosophy that thrived 2500 years ago and which included gnosis, metempsychosic revelation, physiognomy and qualitative number.

~ does not read others' writing in depth ... writes original metaphysics based on esoterica and the occult.

~ since his teens has been guided by a soul that knew he had to be prevented from a fate worse than death; writes solely out of Love and Compassion, avoiding the sin of mercenariness.

~ has had 3 wives; did office work for 30 years; was a white hat hacker; was a blues guitarist-singer-bandleader; now sings operatic arias; vegetarian; no substances ever; former inappropriate content fan for 50 years (saw a black abyss waiting); exercise and breathing nut; now with his third and True Love wife; and is a happy recluse; frequently uses himself to illustrate a point, aware that the false prophets reveal little of themselves for fear of losing business. Confucius said, 'The proud man is not dignified, and the dignified man is not proud'.

~ is a comedian. Out of compassion for the humorless who need to be left in peace, he tries to tone down the humor when he can, but he can't promise anything, as he is essentially alive and humorous as distinct from dead and serious. He has learned from the example of Pythagoras - who was definitely a comedian -- to limit humor in a studious environment because of its disruptive disharmony with solemn reflection upon the deadly serious topic of Life.

~ has a concept of Truth and Love which equates with the Taiji, Truth representing Yang or the masculine 1 quality's inspiring vibrational power, and Love being feminine Yin's 2 quality, a unifying, restful but lifting force that with the Truth creates Life or beings symbolized by: the 3 quality, the third realm, or the Taiji in this concept; the child; or Wisdom (3 or Spiritual Life as a merging of 1 = positive Spirit and 2 = negative mind).

Welcome Hugh - quite a diverse background! I also have found value in things like the Dhammapada.

He has learned from the example of Pythagoras - who was definitely a comedian --

And I had no idea Pythagoras was a comedian :)

Thank you both for your welcome, sacred beings JCFantasy23 and Petros!

It's going to be a good time for me here; I find Life and people too interesting for it to be otherwise. :tutu:

Nice to be here and have another opportunity to share.

Your fellow, Hugh

Dear JCFantasy23, thank you!

Wonderful you're in a Kingdom by the Sea -- I was also in such a kingdom, which would have been great if there had been no subjects in it. LOL. :swoon:

Your angels are looking at you (I assume it's you, anyway) with amazement! On Facebook I use my picture at 2 years old to let folks know how young I really am. Perhaps we could be as "one of these little ones which believe in me" (Matthew 18:6), or "born again".

Your Jesus avatar is great. I like your quotes, thanks. The following is analogous to your 1 Corinthians 2:5 ESV....

'But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible'. (Matthew 19:26)

Sat sri akaal (Sikh greeting, 'Truth is eternal')

Dear Petros, thank you, fellow Dhammapadan!

Shall we 'dhammapada' together with this? --

'But he who lives not for pleasures (1), and whose soul is in self-harmony, who eats or fasts with moderation, and has faith and the power of virtue -- this man is not moved by temptations, as a great rock is not shaken by the wind'. (Dhammapada 1.8)

(1) A sign of the ascetic perhaps. I follow the Judaists' way of enjoying the things that God gives us to enjoy. Moderation is a challenge for many, but easier for me now being older and 'wiser'.

Yes, it seems Pythagoras was quite a joker, but presumably not in his lectures. There is a story -- he is said to have encouraged didactic stories, which I believe were to promote a consciousness of his concepts -- quoted from

https://listverse.com/2017/04/26/10-strange-facts-about-pythagoras-mathematician-and-cult-leader/

"Legend has it that he once saw a dog getting beaten on the streets and ran in the way to stop the blows. “Stop! Don’t beat it!” Pythagoras yelled. “It is the soul of a friend.” He had recognized its voice in the dog’s barking.

Xenophanes made fun of him for pretending to recognize the voice of a departed friend in the howls of a beaten dog.

Others have seen the humor in this story from a man with both a purpose and humor. I recognize the bizarre element as the same that allegorists have used to ensure their works last for a very long time; this is seen in 'Beauty and the beast'.

Perhaps you knew the dog and soul story ... here's the one I give the comedy award to:

Abaris the Hyperborean thought Pythagoras was a God. Pythagoras told Abaris he came down to human form lest men, disturbed by the novelty of his transcendency, should avoid the discipline he advised. (from Iamblichus? via William Harris, Prof. Em. Middlebury College).

Thank you for the great George MacDonald quote  , and for the fine and deep one from Metropolitan Kallistos Ware, who I wikied and learned of from you.
