Melania has called for people to be fired. We don’t need to investigate or speculate...her office confirms her statement.
No such finding has ever been made in Clinton’s case. It was undetermined whether or not her comments had had an influence in the firings. People largely formed their opinions upon partisan lines...

Yeah the problem here isn't a First Lady convincing her husband to fire someone (First Ladies whispering in their husbands ears is probably as old as the Republic), its the First Lady releasing an official statement (without the knowledge of the West Wing and the president's communication staff apparently) calling for a member of the administration to be fired.
The First Lady isn't an official governmental role. She isn't elected or appointed, she's literally only there because she's married to someone. Publicly calling for a member of the administration to be fired shows an amazing lack of self-awareness and lack of understanding of her own position.

In her role as No. 2 to national security adviser John Bolton, Ricardel berated colleagues in meetings, yelled at military aides and White House professional staff, argued with Melania Trump regarding her recent trip to Africa and spread rumors about Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, according to three current and two former White House officials.
Kelly has sought for months to oust Ricardel, calling her a problematic hire in the West Wing, and Mattis has told advisers that he wants her out as well, the officials said.

I have no doubt that Trump either put her up to it or he approved. It may be an attempt to draw attention away from his actions. It will also cause further division as his supporters sympathize with her, see she "may be the most bullied person in the world."
The media should just ignore it, as we should as well.

Melania can howl for whatever she wants to -- truth be told, it's a welcome distraction from her husband doing likewise. At least she's pretty when she's angry.

Normally, I'd be inclined to agree. But if your only way into a senior WH position is to become John Bolton's #2, there's probably a good reason people don't like you.

He's 72, in lousy shape, and likely had a bulletproof pre-nup. Seeing as how she's only 48, it's probably in her best interest to just ride this one out.
