I've been reading up on what a False Teacher and False Teaching is and would welcome any insight as to what to look for and if I did run across one how to handle it. I know we should pray for them but what if they are causing trouble creating debates and all other forms of bad things? I could really use your help on this one. I would also like to have your insight as to how to deal with one if they start contradicting everything you say.

The Word of God is what we need. It will tell us what is true and what is a lie. If something is said that you are not sure of, pray and then spend much time in the Word. False prophets and apostates are mentioned many times through out the Bible and there are many characteristics of them laid out in the Bible.

People who are false prophets and/or apostates place themselves in position where they are and can be judged. They place themselves in a position that has requirements. If they do not meet those requirements it is up to the body of believes to rebuke in love.

Pray - ask the Holy Spirit to help you search the Word and to understand.
Armor - make sure your armor is on - every piece.
Study - pour over the Word of God and never forget context.
Pray - ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and actions.
Guidence - ask another person to help you, to make sure that you are understanding correctly what you are reading.
Pray - never stop praying and pray for discernment.
Act - only once much prayer and studing of the Word has been will you be able to handle these situations with love.

You learn to spot a false teacher by knowing the truth. Study the word of God and you'll have no trouble at all discerning when someone is telling lies. Jesus said His sheep know His voice and they follow Him; learn to listen for His voice by studying His teachings.

Bank tellers learn to spot counterfeit money by studying real money. Anything that isn't real money is counterfeit, just like anything that isn't Biblically-corraborated is counterfeit Christianity!

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness

1 John 2:26-27
These things have I written unto you concerning them that would lead you astray. And as for you, the anointing which ye received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any one teach you; but as his anointing teacheth you; concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, ye abide in him.

Now I agree with all of this.  I have seen the truth and I have found a problem in a teacher.  But what if the teacher in question has been shown the Scripture and still will not yield.  The teacher in question has been confronted by another as well.  Both have pointed out scripture and still they yield not to it.  The body of believers sees this as well.  They have been rebuked in love according to the scripture but still do not see.  They carry with them the potential to stir up arguements and debates.  Perhaps if they are simply ignored I wonder if that would be enough to do the trick?  I certainly don't want them to not have all that God would have for them.  Well what is not possible for man is possible for God.  He can do things way beyond our wildest imagination.

I really appreciate your input and as always God Bless you.

Here is something about the consequences.

False Prophecy by Jim Anderson
"There are dire consequences for either producing false prophecies or heeding false prophets. One of those consequences is the failure of the prophecy itself. Since it is false, it is doomed to ultimate failure (cf. Jer 28:9; Deut 18:20-22; 2 Chr 18:12-27). Another consequence is the shame, spiritual depravity, and moral corruption that follow. When people listen to error, follow error, and live in error, the result is always a corrupt, shameful life (Mich. 3:11-12). One very pathetic consequence of false prophecy is that the lives of people other than the false prophet are caontaminated. Jesus said of the religious hypocrites of His day, that when they gained a convert they caused that person to become "twofold more the child of hell" (Mattt. 23:15). The altimate consequence of a false prophecy is that the false prophet himself receives death and destruction (cf. Jer. 28:16-17)."

I hesitate to write anything without posting the scripture but I believe the Bible teaches about going to the person yourself privately, then taking a brother or sister in Christ with you. Basically, it ends with saying if they still do not repent (I assume its a teaching that truly goes against the teachings of Jesus), then you treat them as an unbeliever. The Bible teaches us to love unbelievers and hold up the sufficiency of Christ. I'm knee deep in study and prayers right now.l Would love someone to find the appropriate scripture regarding this. I will later this week if no one else finds it.

I certainly know this to be so.  I've personally dealt with false teachings and it certainly isn't a pretty site.  The destruction of human life is heart wrenching.  It is sad even more so because they back there beliefs up with the Bible.  God began to open there eyes but people who didn't understand what I was doing began to believe that I believed as they did.  It became a time of I got to prove everything and I wasn't about to prove anymore to them.  If they knew God as well as they said they did they would only have had to ask God to know.  They would have believed me when I said that I was trying to turn them to Jesus for the real truth and not that of there teachers who spoke a twisted form of the truth.  But they didn't.  The only way to know the truth Is to seek out the Lord and let Him give it to you straight.  Some of them finally got it and began doing some serious questioning of there doctrine.  If one was saved then it was worth the struggle I went through with them.

What's really sad they were really decent people.  But because of what they believed they were rejected.  I was reflecting back on it and I wonder where they are today.  If the seeds of the Gospel that I planted took root and grew to deliver them from bondage.  I guess I won't know till I get home myself.  But like I said what is impossible for man is possible for God.

1 John 2:26-27

And as for you, the anointing which ye received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any one teach you; but as his anointing teacheth you; concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, ye abide in him.

I'm glad I know Jesus for myself.  He talks with me He walks with He tells me I am His own.  Words from a hymn I enjoy.  I find comfort in it when people say bad things about me.  For at the end of the Day I know Him and He definitely knows me.  I take shelter in His word knowing that He has taught me himself.  I can stand with knowledge and not mere belief or speculation.  When they do say bad things I can talk to Jesus and He sets me straight about it.  He'll point me to a verse like the on above because He knows I believe Him.  If I have questions He answers them.  Yes I would have this for those I left behind.  But there comes a time when It belongs to God and you have to let it go.

Thank you for your reply.  I know what you are referring to and was trying to find it myself.  The first two steps have been taken in this paticular problem.  However the situation at hand may need a little more prayer to gain the appropriate wisdom to proceed further.  I prayed that God would enlighten His word to you as you study.

1 Corinthians 5:1-13 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Matthew 18:15-17 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

James 4:10-12 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

This is one way to go about it.  I don't really want to go to that extreme.

Paul here is passing judgement on a church members sin.  Paul is pointing out that if it continues it may corrupt more of the members and this must be dealt with. If I remember correctly the teacher I am referring to said that I cannot pass judgement on sin.  That I cannot say that a person is guilty or not guilty.  But here I see the Word of God says I can indeed do this.  So by Gods own judgement which is his written word here, I am right when I say I can pass judgement on a sin and that the teacher was wrong.  I think we're on to something here.

There it is that's what reann and I were looking for.  Now this has been done.  The teacher not only sinned by calling me a liar but has also sinned by bearing false testimony against me.  Both of these has now been pointed out to the teacher.  If one is in doubt as to the validity of what is said as being true or not true it is better to remain silent then to later be made a fool of or worse yet render a false accusation.  To render a false accusation the teacher has sinned by robbing me and others of peace. That is stealing.  We know have three sins against the teacher; lieing, false accusation, and stealing.  These are not fruits of the spirit.

This is another excellent verse.  To speak evil of someone or to falsely accuse them is not right.  But if they are sinning it is right to judge them according to 1 Corinthians 5:1-13.  Now the teacher says they are right yet they have falsely accused me, robbed me and the members of our peace and has lied to me saying I couldn't Judge.  I have pointed this out to the teacher.  Yet the teacher continues with the sin.  The teacher says I speak evil of them when in fact I am pointing out their sin.

We have yet another problem with this teacher in that he says there is no longer any prophesying done because it was done away with yet here in 1 Corinthians 14:22 we see that the gift of prophecy is for the believing church.  To build her up and lay bare the sins of nonbelievers.

1 Corinthians 14:22 So you see that speaking in tongues is a sign, not for believers, but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is for the benefit of believers, not unbelievers. 23Even so, if unbelievers or people who don’t understand these things come into your meeting and hear everyone talking in an unknown language, they will think you are crazy. 24But if all of you are prophesying, and unbelievers or people who don’t understand these things come into your meeting, they will be convicted of sin, and they will be condemned by what you say. 25As they listen, their secret thoughts will be laid bare, and they will fall down on their knees and worship God, declaring, “God is really here among you.”

So I can now conclude by the word of God that this teacher I am having problems with is twisting the word of God. Twisting the word of God is a sin.

We now have lieing, false accusation, stealing and the sin of twisting the word of God.
