But the Army deployment is in Texas. We're doomed!

Well, that is what happens when you brag about your plans for military deployments; the people you are deploying against will just go somewhere else. If the President had ever served in the Armed Forces he would have learned about Operational Security (OPSEC) but alas, he acted just fellow fake Republican Geraldo who broadcast the Iraqi invasion plans from a briefing he had just attended.

Good Job Mr. President!

Thats cool. Most people buy the bulk of their veggies at the store tho.

I know of a goat herder on a mountain somewhere that brags about his Hispanic help sometimes.

OPSEC hardly applies here. Even if Trump had said nothing about it, the press would report on it anyway as the troops movements and activities are observable to just about anyone close by.

Good Job trying to blame the President!

I am not trying to blame the President, he REALLY said it. Now if he had kept his mouth and twitter shut, you might have a point.

I was thinking more along the lines of this, if you're referencing movies...

And perfectly in line with the:
Invasion!
Rock throwing!
ISIS!
Smallpox, Ebola and AIDS!
fear narrative.

That was probably the most logical place to deploy them, since it was the closest border crossing to the caravan at the time. I would not be surprised if part of the current deployment is reassigned to other border crossing areas or if more troops will be called in to provide the same or similar logistical support.

If by closest one means 1000 miles instead of 1,200 miles I guess one has a point.

Word from some outlets is the troops know this was a bogus political exercise and that they're just going to pack up and move somewhere else to spend Thanksgiving away from their families.

The only one cleaning my house is me and my wife. We also pick our own vegetables.

Every vegetable you eat you pick yourselves? I find that a bit hard to believe.

I see you are geographically challenged. Here, let me help you.

The closest border crossing from where they started is Brownsville, TX. At the time of the deployment, the main caravan (the ones who were still walking) was roughly 1,000 miles away. The furthest is Tijuana, which is NOT 200 miles further in distance than Brownsville.

That's unsubstantiated opinion. However, we do have official statements by those in charge of making these decisions.

Oh brother. You're quibbling over the details rather than my point?

Again, your narrative...

I wonder how many tens of thousands of migrants have both entered and left the country in the weeks we've been focusing on this small group.
America is such a huge country with such a huge population that you could have every person in Honduras enter, and almost no one would even notice.

Or, more likely, because it was a political stunt aimed at causing the desired fear among the base just before an election, OPSEC didn't matter at all.

I would say that it worked. The House gained and lot of new members…

....echoed by his unofficial border alarmest: Lou Dobbs

“You know,” the Fox Business Network host said on his show Thursday, “millions of illegal immigrants cross our borders, and many of them [were] voting in the past election that’s what, just a couple weeks ago, and having an immense impact.”

Oh brother, I'm glad it's Friday. You made no point, other than your post was pointless.

From the article: Senior military officers have defended the deployment on national security grounds,
Hint: those are the guys in charge of the operations. What former service members think about it does not negate the actual fact of an official, formal request for troops to support the border patrols.

No, my words were spot on. They address your fearmongering and mischaracterization of out of context quotes that fit your anti-Trump agenda.

Utter nonsense. Honduras has 9 or 10 million people in it. Do you seriously think we could just take in ten million people with no impact, or that no one would notice?

Sure it would have the impact of making America a slightly better country, but seriously, adding 10 million people to a country the size of America wouldn't be very significant. It might set back the aging of the population by a whole six months to a year, but it would just be a blip in the long term.
