What has your Dr. suggested? (Or a Nutritionist?)
I like my doctor. He is helpful, and not arrogant and he doesn't take a condescending attitude toward alternative health things I have used. However, I don't think weight loss programs are really his thing. I do not see a nutritionist. But thanks for asking.

sounds like you may be doing whats called intermittent fasting. every time you eat your body produces insulin (lots with carbs, some with protein, very lil with fat) which tells your body to store fat. eating less often helps let your body burn instead of store fat.
Calorie reduction often dosent work long term as your body can simply reduce the calories it burns to compensate (ie tank your metabolism)
Dag. Well, that kind of blows my mind but today my weight did go down to its lowest point, in over a month, by about a month. So, with what I am trying recently maybe I will lose the weight on that plan.

a pound is 3500 calories so to lose just one lb/wk that's deficit of 500 per day

can people decrease portion sizes enough to reach 500 cal?

that's why decreasing a whole meal works better for me
Interesting. I can't skip meals due to low blood sugar, though. Wish I could.

once I was trying a diet, which was lower calories

we were out somewhere and I felt terrible suddenly and asked husband to get me some food quick so think my blood sugar went down; couldn't stay on that diet

it was a horrible feeling, so understand why you can't skip any meals

Sounds like low blood sugar to me, too. It seems there is always conflicting info on everything. Some say the fastest was to get blood sugar up is with pure glucose, which doesn't have as many calories as you might think. Some say use protein to raise blood sugar and it would be more friendly to a keto diet, but doesn't seem to work as fast as glucose or, say, dried fruit.

maybe a bit too much. I love salt!
Probably not. :)
some good info.

I actually had been feeling a bit crappy last week. just achy, tired.. nothing specific but you know when you just don't feel 100%. Prayed about as usual & decided to make Sol (Salt solution where you de-solve Him. Pink salt in water to saturation) and started taking it. Within hours, feeling much better & by next day all the achyness, fatigue etc. completely gone. taking 1-2 Tablespoons of Sol a day now on top of salting everything as I normally do (never been a believer that salt was bad for you anyways) but guess I still wasent getting as much as I needed.

Yeal, it scares me when some nutrition "experts" say to give up salt. It is an essential mineral for our health! However, I have found from experimenting that too much salt will definitely raise blood pressure, at least for me, and reportedly some others.

Yes, everything has its proper amount, sometimes different for each person. Testing one's B/P (and Blood sugar if one is Diabetic) and also how one feels when trying new nutritional ideas is the best way to go.

Welcome aboard! That is so encouraging to see someone lose 10 pounds. It is a great start. I pray all us weight loss seekers lose all the weight we need to lose and keep it off for life.

They say that slow weight loss is far more likely to stay off. I have just lost 2 pounds myself in a week. I know it is a true weight loss because I have not been at that point on the scales for many moons. The scales were just showing the same weight over and over, with maybe a pound lost in a month.

My case is probably different because of adrenal, with related hypoglycemia, issues. That is why I knew only the Father would be able to guide me. I will share what happened along those lines. Quite a few times I had prayed for guidance on how to lose weight and still have energy, as the low blood sugar was really leaving me feeling drained a lot.

I never got any answer for a long time. It has been my personal experience that when my prayer wasn't answered I wasn't humble, or from the heart enough, or faith filled enough.. The Bible says that if we lack wisdom (some say the correct translation would be if we lack skill) and we ask Him for it He will give it generously, without finding fault, if we don't waver. (I always love that "without finding fault"part as I have so many faults!)

The last time when I asked, I believe I truly left it in His hands. Well, a day or two later the Word of Knowledge "meat" came to me about weight loss. Now, I had seen some docs on YT saying that protein was the best antidote to low blood sugar. But it didn't seem to work for me. Since I got that word I tried again. What I learned is that the protein does work, just not as fast as the carbs that are more likely to cause weight gain. So, I have been replacing some of the carbs with meat, judiciously spaced out, and since then lost those 2 pounds. Just sharin'. :)

I hope and pray you all have a lovely week.

Thanks for the gratz. I was so proud of myself that I dropped 10 pounds. Lately I've been filled with the desire to exercise and I'm glad that I'm exercising again. But yeah now that I'm 370 pounds I can move around a bit easier. I do notice the difference. I could do a lot more when I met my wife (I weighed about 300 lbs back then). So yeah I'm looking forward to being 300 pounds again. Hopefully by the end of winter I'll weigh about 350. Hopefully. That's my goal anyway.

Well, it sounds like you are getting plenty of protein. And btw, it's nice to see you on this string.
