It’s all good, he did do Diwali. And there is a guy in uniform behind the President. a win-win for everyone!

Hey, if Diwali influences Trump, all the better for the country:

"victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance."

Looks like it.

Maybe that’s why he was able to attend. He doesn’t seem too keen on being seen in public at the moment. Tbh I do sometimes think that the press is on the attack too much, some of the time, but it’s hard to resist trying to figure out what is happening with your prez, like rubbernecking a car crash. What he does has consequences for all of us, US citizens or not.

Don't you folks get it, he got angry and took his ball home because you wouldn't throw him a military parade.

Apparently you didn't choose the right story. Probably a good idea to cross check before posing so you get all the info. Please read this from another thread:

Looks to me like you all can't keep your story straight. I didn't read this whole thread but it appears the bashing was mostly because Trump didn't want to get wet, when it appears that is not the case at all. Whether it was mentioned/in the original article/here, or not, many of you made something out of it that it was not.

Rain prevents Trump from honoring American war dead

From the recently posted article:

The White House initially said that poor weather had precluded flying a helicopter to Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial on Saturday. The President could have taken his motorcade 2.5 hours each way to visit the cemetery, but, according to White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Sunday, the trip by car “would have required closures to substantial portions of the Paris roadways for the President’s motorcade, on short notice.”

“President Trump did not want to cause that kind of unexpected disruption to the city and its people,” Sanders said.

And imagine that, Secrets on what really happened coming from the "Secret Service". Or did I already touch on that?

We ran with the story that the White House provided.

Although people there did the same as here, I agree, your thread was the story with all the info, not like here, just enough to make it look like he didn't want to get wet.

I see where they get the term Trumped up from now.

EDIT: OK I see you did post the same link as the OP. Valentine posted the one with the full story within your thread, and I'm sure he meant to get the whole truth out there, right, V? :)

That’s a bit feeble - in every city I’ve lived in the temporary closing off of traffic for official motorcades, or in some cases criminal transport, is an occasional event (as in several times a year) that doesn’t take up that much time. On a Saturday in particular it would hardly cause major disruption. Those US officials who did attend travelled by car from Paris.

As an aside, I realize that you're just quoting from an article, but that "2.5 hours each way" appears to be an error. Google says that ought to be about the total time round trip:

So, the ceremony at Arlington was on Sunday, the day he was traveling back from France, not Monday, the day all the offices were closed and the day in which the "lid" was instituted at 10am.

And...... it was never on his schedule.

And...... it was never on his schedule.

Meaning it wasn't so much of a "cancellation" as he never intended to honor the vets in the first place.
