• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I have a special interest that has lead to a major breakthrough in my field. What do I do now? I seem to have executive function disorder, so pursuing it becomes a problem, difficulty having rapport with people so finding a place where people will accept it is a problem, and lots of anxiety. I worry that this isn't really what God wants me to do. I worry that simply waiting for God to bring me collaborators who can take the interest to the world for me might not be the right thing to do.

The bottom line is what do you do when your special interest leads to a breakthrough that millions can benefit from, and your other autism problems get in the way of bringing it to them?

May I suggest that you break it down into small tasks and tackle each task one at a time.

You are clearly able to communicate with people so it is within your caperbilities.

1st task, write up your research and get it published.
2nd task talk to who ever funds your research and find out if they will fund development.
and so on.

Tolworth John, Thanks. I would love to publish a paper on my breakthrough. I have no idea how to even get started. I have never published a paper, I have no one funding my research and I do not work in an academic environment. I need advice on learning how to publish a paper. I have thought to take a course that would teach me? Is there a better way to learn how to do it? The breakthrough is in the field of software development. How can I learn how to publish a paper in this field?
