we are to follow the lord Jesus and do as he tells us to do as new creations in him . He has never told me to observe the sabbath . we live In him doing as he says to us .

God has his people in all his Churches living up to all the light that God has given them. Pehaps he has brought you to this thread to help you and to tell you.

May God bless you as you seek him through his Word.

Whether or not you are correct, it was a pattern that was established very early on...

Acts 20:7
On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the morrow; and he prolonged his speech until midnight.

1 Corinthians 16:2
On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that contributions need not be made when I come.

To me it is very reasonable to believe that when Paul travelled around on his missionary trips that he went "first to the Jews" meeting them in their synagogues on the 7th day of the week. But as time went on more and more non-Jews joined the church, and it is unlikely that they were welcome to worship in the synagogue. Converted Jews may well have wanted to continue to meet their ethnic community members - many Jewish believers did not really see Christianity as a distinct religion, as shown by many of Paul's letters - and so they could well have continued to respect the Jewish Sabbath, but joined their non-Jewish brothers and sisters on the following day "to bread bread." Remember that it was on Sunday that Christ rose from the dead, and the resurrection was/is at the heart of the Christian faith, so it would be natural to select that particular day to celebrate the death and resurrection of their Lord.

If as you say, LoveGodsWord, this was a breach of the commandments of God, it is interesting that Paul never seems to have reprimanded the church for meeting on the first day of the week. Either he understood that Christ extended the meaning of "sabbath" to every day, or he consistently broke God's commandments and encouraged others to do the same.

Hello sister Monna, great to see you again .

It is an interesting study for sure as we look at the scriptures. It takes a lot of prayer asking God to be our teacher and to guide us in to his truth. This is the new covenant promise to all those who believe and follow God's WORD *HEBREWS 8:11; JOHN 14:25; JOHN 16:13; JOHN 7:17; JOHN 8:31-36. Anyhow ssiter I know a lot of people the promote Sunday as a day of worship try to use those scriptures to justifiy Sunday worship but the problem is that there is no scripture in all of God's WORD that says God's 4th Commandment of the 10 Commandments has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day. In fact did you know that God's people met EVERYDAY of the week breaking bread together?

ACTS 2:46-47 [46], And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, [47], Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Meeting together on any day of the week is not a commandment to keep Sunday as a holy day. There is no scripture that says God's 4th Commandment has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day the same as there is no scripture that says that the LORD'S DAY is SUNDAY. Did you know that history shows that God's people people have always kept the Sabbath from Genesis through to the times of JESUS and the APOSTLES to after the death of JESUS to this present day?

Sister, for me, he (JESUS) must increase and I must decrease. I only point all to the Word of God because it is there we find the one who loves us that we may love him. I know him and am known by him. All that he shows me I see and must show to all because I am blind. He tells me it is those that say they see that do not see. These are they that have once known him or do not know him. There is only life in the living Word. These are his Words and not my own. Freely I give because freely I have received. I must speak in the light and what I hear preach in the housetops. Many will not hear because they do not know Him. He is the Word of God and those that believe him are those that he has chosen. They follow him because they love him and are loved by him. Many are called but few are chosen. There is nothing hidden that shall not be revealed come judgment day. My prayer is that you mat hear his voice.

GOD’S Sheep wherever they may be hear his Voice (the WORD of God).

May God bless you sister as you prayerfully seek him through his Word.

Thanks LoveGodsWord. Yes I have taken the time to read it. In NOT ONE of the 59 different versions of the Bible that BibleGateway provides, is Yom HaAdon (as the Orthodox Jewish Bible puts it) translated as "the Sabbath." If John had meant the Sabbath, why did he not use it?

Hello sister Monna nice to see you again. Good question. The reason John writes it this way is because he is referring to JESUS as the GOD of creation. REVELATION 1:10 is in reference to the LORD'S ownership of the day. He does not have to use the word SABBATH every time the SABBATH is being referred to. JESUS revealed to his disciples that he was the God of creation and the LORD of the SABBATH DAY. Hence the "LORD'S DAY

God owns all the days of the week but there is only one that he has BLESSED and made a HOLY DAY of REST and has commanded his people to REMEMBER and keep *GENESIS 2:1-3; EXODUS 20:8-11

ISAIAH 58:13 If you turn away your foot from the SABBATH, from doing your pleasure on MY HOLY DAY [God's ownership of the day]; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shall honor him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words:

EXODUS 31:12-18 [12] Then the Lord said to Moses, [13] Say to the Israelites, You must observe MY SABBATHS. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the Lord, who makes you holy.

WHICH DAY IS THE LORDS DAY OR THE DAY?

MATTHEW 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

MARK 2:27-28 [27], And he said to them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:[28], Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

The term "Lord's day" used in Revelation 1:10 is not linked to μία των which is used in the NEW TESTAMENT Greek which means FIRST DAY.

In Revelations 1:10 "Lords Day κυριακῇ ἡμέρᾳ does not link to any scripture reference in the NEW TESTAMENT to μιά των σαββάτων (the FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK).

κυριακῇ ἡμέρᾳ used in Revelations 1:10 is in reference to the Lord's ownership of the day. It does not say that this day is in reference to μιά των σαββάτων which means the FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK.

Your challenge here in this OP is to prove that the Lord's DAY is in reference to the First day of the week and prove it from the scriptures.

The seventh day of every week is not the only day of rest that is a "sabbath" in the OT. There are seven other sabbaths in the year that are celebrated. I hope all literalists celebrate these too, and indeed the seventh year, all of which is to be regarded as a sabbath. I suspect that there aren't many farmers on CFs but even for those that are not, this sabbath year also had/has laws regulating the sale, consumption and disposal of the produce of that sabbath year. (Deut.15) Moreover, at the end of that sabbath year all debts were to be remitted (except for foreigners: if you are not Jewish you may argue that you are not bound by this particular law - if that's your reasoning, then logic should tell you that you are not subject to the rest of the Jewish rules on the Sabbath either).

When Jesus "fulfilled" the law he always went beyond its letter to its intent. "You have heard it said, 'do not commit murder,' but I say to you 'whoever hates his brother has already committed murder in his heart.'" And so, the extension of the sabbath, as a day of worship to the Lord - the LORD'S day - to EVERY DAY is not at all out of line. We rest daily and totally in the work that Jesus himself said was "finished." We are to offer our bodies daily as a sacrifice to God, and not restrict our worship to "special" days. Obviously, if I treat every day as a sabbath, I will include both the first and the seventh days, an every other one in between. I stand by my interpretation that today "is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it." Today and everyday is the Lord's day.

This is a freedom I have found in Jesus Christ my Lord. If you or anyone else wish to hold to "the observance of days," I will not condemn you - that is neither my right, nor my wish. But by the same token I will not bow to another person's infringement of my freedom in Christ Jesus. "If the Son shall set you free, you shall be free indeed."

Correct but you have to be careful here that you do not mix up the Shadow laws from the MOSIAC BOOK of the covenant *EXODUS 24:7 with God's eternal law (10 commandments) that give us a KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTOEUSNESS *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172. If we knowingly break any of God's 10 commandments we stand guilty before God of sin and need to seek him in repentance and forgiveness *JAMES 2:10-11. Both God's LAW (10 Commandments) and the MOSAIC BOOK of the LAW held different purposes under the OLD COVENANT.

1) GOD'S 10 COMMANDMENTS SHOW GOOD AND EVIL; SIN AND RIGHTEOUSNESS
Purpose; reveals what sin and righteousness (Good and Evil) is and describes the penalty for sin (Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4; Romans 6:23). It was never a cure for sin. But it was the work of God which is forever and the foundation of the Old Covenant, the New Covenant and the Judgement to come. (Exodus 32:16; Exodus 31:18; 31:18; Exodus 20:1-22; Deuteronomy 10:5; Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4; Romans 6:23; Hebrews 7:19; Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, James 2:10-12, 1 John 3:4, Acts 17:31; Ps 111:7-8; Revelation 12:17; 14:12; 22:14; 1 John 3:5-8; 1 John 2:3-4; Ecclesiastes 3:14)

(2) THE MOSAIC BOOK OF THE SHADOW LAWS POINT TO CHRIST (Levitical, ceremonial, sacrificial)
Purpose; was the prescriptive cure for sin with all the Levitical and ceremonial laws, burnt offerings for sin, annual feast days foretelling the plan of salvation which were connected to Feast days with New Moon sabbaths, food and drink offerings and other Holy days. These where all types pointing to Jesus and the plan of salvation and provided a cure for sin through animal sacrifice and food and drink offerings and yearly sin atonement's for God’s people. (Leviticus 1:1-13; Leviticus 23:1-44; Numbers 28:1-31; 29:1-40; Deuteronomy 24:10-11; Exodus 24:3; Deuteronomy 31:24-26; Colossians 2:16-16; Hebrews 10:1; Ephesians 2:14-15; Leviticus 4; 5; 6; Hebrews 4:14; 9;10; John 1:29; not exhaustive there are many more).

Besides God's 4th Commandment which is the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH written on stone, there were "SPECIAL" annual ceremonial Sabbath connected to the annual Jewish festivals in the OLD COVENANT written in the MOSAIC BOOK OF THE COVENANT.

These ceremonial Sabbath were not God's 4th Commandment of the 10 Commandments but were connected to annual festivals and could fall on ANY DAY of the week depending on the yearly cycle (please read LEVITICUS 23;24-39).

These ceremonial "SPECIAL" Sabbath were connected to..

* Annual festival of The blowing of trumpet (Leviticus 23:24)
* Annual Day of Atonement (Leviticus 23:32)
* Annual Feast of tabernacles (Leviticus 23:39)

These "SPECIAL" Sabbath could fall on any day and were connected directly to these festivals that were prophetic in nature pointing to Jesus and God's plan of Salvation in the NEW COVENANT.

You have your Shadow laws from the MOSAIC BOOK of the COVENANT mixed up with God's ETERNAL LAW that give us a KNOWLEDGE of sin (Romans 3:20).

DETAILED SCRIPTURE SUPPORT COLOSSIANS 2 LINKING THE NEW TESTAMENT TO OLD

I am free to rest in Him and worship Him seven days a week, every week, and see every day as a holy day set aside for Him.

According to God's 4th Commandment it is more than worship it is about keeping God's SEVENTH DAY as a HOLY DAY set apart from all the other days of the week as a memorial of creation. It is a day of resting in CHRIST where no work is to be done. If we KNOWINGLY break it just like any ANY of God's other commandments we stand guilty before GOD if sin and need to seek him in repentance and forgiveness *ACTS 17:30-31; ROMANS 7:7; PROVERBS 28:13; 1 JOHN 2:1-4.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts sister,

God bless.

It is an easily verifiable fact that Christians have always referred to the first day of the week as "the Lord's Day", so to demand that it be proven from Scripture is a silly request. I could just as easily demand that you prove that you are who you claim to be from Scripture. It makes just as much sense.

Not really brother. It is also an easily verifiable fact that God's people have always kept God's 4th Commandment from GENESIS to the days of JESUS and the APOSTLES to after the death of JESUS all through time to this present day as shown in previous posts here already. Some also kept the first day of the week some kept both. This does not mean that the LORD'S DAY is SUNDAY.

Do you have any scripture to show that the LORD'S DAY is SUNDAY and that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a HOLY DAY?

God's 4th Commandment is one of the 10 Commandments that give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSLAMS 119:172 and if we break any one of them we stand guilty before God of SIN *JAMES 2:10-11.

...........

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)
Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

...........

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now, <when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

Nope. You should educate yourself.
My Church Observes EVERY Sabbath day on Saturday. EVERY one, and Has been doing so for Millennia. Like the apostles, we have simply added the celebration of our Lord's resurrection on Sunday.

So brother are you saying that the Catholic Church keeps the God's SEVENTH DAY SABBATH from sunset FRIDAY to sunset SATURDAY as a HOLY DAY of rest according to God's 4th Commandment *EXODUS 20:8-11 where no personal work or business transactions are to be carried out and the whole day is an exclusive day of worship for God? If you can you prove it? I do not personally know of any Catholics that teach any such thing let alone claim to keep God's 4th Commandment as a Holy day according to the scriptures.

If you would Simply add Sunday Observance and celebration of our Lord's rising, in addition to your Saturday Sabbath observance (Like we do) all this self-imposed hullabaloo you are suffering from would simply vanish.

The problem is not when we worship GOD we should worship God every day of the week. The problem is when we break God's Commandments as sin separates us from God.

Scripture mentions two Sunday gatherings, both at 1 Cor 16:1-2, and in the breaking of bread on Sunday (Acts 20:7). This, combined with the universal practice of Sunday observance of the Lord's Resurrection Day among the earliest Christians, proves what was the apostolic tradition as taught by the apostles personally to their churches (2 Thess 1:15; 1 Cor 11:2).

Not really brother God's people according to the scriptures gathered everyday of the week and broke bread. The breaking of bread can also mean having a meal together. The scriptures you have provided do not prove Sunday worship any more than the scriptures I provide below that states God's people gathered together every day of the week. There is not one scripture in all of God's WORD that says God's 4th commandment is now abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day. Even if you do not believe God's 4th Commandment is abolished where is the scriptures that God commands his people to keep Sunday as a Holy day? *There is none as it is a teaching and traditions of men that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says those that knowingly follow the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of God are not following God *MATTHEW 15:3-9. Who should we believe God or man? *ACTS 5:29; ROMANS 3:4. God's people met together and broke bread every day of the week. This does not mean that everyday of the week is the day God has blessed, set apart and made a holy day that no work is to be done on.

ACTS 2:46-47 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

"Stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us." "I praise you because you remember me in everything and hold firmly to the traditions, just as I delivered them to you"

The traditions were known by the real, historical practice of the first Christians everywhere---which was Sunday observance of the Lord's Resurrection Day. This day, which was always distinct from the Mosaic Sabbath, was the premier day of Christianity, for Christ's Resurrection was the premier day of all history.

Some on this forum have tried to discount apostolic tradition, arguing that the way to know the truth is for everyone to read their bibles for themselves. And these people are quite vocal about it. But their argument falls apart once we realize that no one could read written language until modern times, nor were books able to be mass produced. Jesus used a different method of passing on his teaching. If it wasn't written language, then what other channel of communication was selected? Jesus Christ and the apostles instituted a system for preserving and passing on His truth that didn't use books or literacy. And Jesus knew what he was doing. So, again, since we know it wasn't books or Literacy, what channel of communication do you believe Jesus used to preserve and pass on his truth to the human race?

There is nothing wrong with traditions. Especially if it is according to God's WORD. The question that needs to be considered here however is WHEN IS TRADITIONS BAD? This question is answered by JESUS himself so let's look at the scriptures to answer this question.

MATTHEW 15:3-9
[3], But he answered and said to them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
[4], For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death.
[5], But you say, Whoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatever you might be profited by me;
[6], And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have you made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
[7], You hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
[8], This people draws near to me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
[9], But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

...............

ANSWER: According to JESUS tradition are bad when they lead others away from believing and following God's WORD to break the commandments of GOD. Those who follow the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of GOD JESUS says are not following God.

In times past God's Word was by word of mouth today it is the written WORD as it says in the scriptures *ROMANS 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts brother.

May God bless you as you seek him through his WORD.

Nope, it didn't help. One word is a verb (rest ָשַׁבת) and the other is a noun (ַָשָׁבּת) derived from the verb (the Sabbath). The noun refers to rest and is applied to the day of rest that Jews had once every seven days. None of this is information that was not already known by me and you. I do not see how you manage to make it magically prove that the Sabbath (24 hour day repeated every seven 24 hour days) is eternal.

Hello brother GB.

Your question that I was responding to was....

GingerBeer wrote: If Sabbath means one in seven and the seventh then why does it actually mean "rest"?

To which I responded latter in detail in post # 248 linked..

It is not irrelavant at all brother you have posted the root word of Sabbath which is rest. This is exactly what I said to you found in GENESIS 2:1-3 which is the origin of God's 4th Commandment. That root word is not the meaning of the HEBREW words SABBATH. You have correctly shown the meaning of the root word for SABBATH which is rest.

The difference between these is this...

REST = SHABATH שׁבת (H7373) this is the root word for SABBATH which is שׁבּת SHABBATH (H7676). Although REST (SHABATH) is the root word for SABBATH (SHABBATH) they are different HEBREW words and they have different meanings.

REST SHABATH שׁבת (H7373) A primitive root; to repose, that is, desist from exertion; used in many implied relations (causatively, figuratively or specifically): - (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep sabbath, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

NOTE: This word is the resting or the keeping of the SABBATH now look at the meaning of the word SABBATH..

SABBATH SHABBATH שׁבּת (H7676) Intensive from H7673; intermission, that is, (specifically) the Sabbath: - (+ every) sabbath.

NOTE: While the root word means rest and keeping the SABBATH the HEBREW word for SABBATH in God's 4th commandments means from one SABBATH to ANOTHER or from one rest to another.

This meaning of the WORD Sabbath as highlighted above is from one SABBATH REST to ANOTHER is a continual ongoing commandment. According to God's WORD ISRAEL in the NEW COVENANT are all those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD and GENTILES are now grafted in to God's ISRAEL *ROMANS 11:13-26; GALATIANS 3:28-29; ROMANS 9:6-8. If you are not a part of God's ISRAEL than you have no part in the NEW COVENANT promise *HEBREWS 8:10-12.

God bless.

Any day after six days of regular work is a day of Sabbath day of rest. It could be Friday for Christians who are working in Muslim countries.

Hello brother Righttruth, nice to meet you here. Big welcome to the thread here :)

the SABBATH starts from sunset and finishes the next sunset. Here are a few thoughts from God's WORD that may help.

HOW DO WE KEEP THE SABBATH?

WHAT DOES GOD'S 4TH COMMANDMENT SAY?

EXODUS 20:8-11
[8], Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. <Why?> Because God made it Holy for mankind and commands us to keep it as a Holy day)
[9], Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:
[10], But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY>
[11], For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the SEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and HALLOWED IT.

WHAT DAY IS GOD'S SABBATH?

v10 The SEVENTH DAY of the week. (Saturday)

WHEN DOES THE SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK START?

GENESIS 1:4-5
[4], And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
[5], And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

A day in God's time is the night (darkness) and the light make up one day. The DAY in God's WORD starts at SUNSET and ends the following SUNSET. So God's 4th Commandment Sabbath would start Friday at SUNSET and end Saturday at SUNSET.

ALL UNECCESSARY WORK TO BE DONE BEFORE FRIDAY SUNSET

EXODUS 16:22-23
[22], And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
[23], And he said to them, This is that which the LORD has said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath to the LORD: bake that which you will bake to day, and seethe that you will seethe; and that which remains over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.

MARK 15:42, And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath

The preparation day is the 6th day of the week. This includes preparing to stop all business and secular work as well as any domestic work; cooking, cleaning; shopping, buying and selling that can be done on any other day of the week.

IT IS LAWFUL TO DO GOOD ON THE SABBATH?

MATTHEW 12:5-12
[5], Or have you not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
[6], But I say to you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
[7], But if you had known what this means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless.
[8], For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day
[9], And when he was departed from there, he went into their synagogue:
[10], And, behold, there was a man who had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
[11], And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
[12], How much then is a man better than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

MARK 2:27, And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath

It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.

WHAT IS LAWFUL ON GOD'S SABBATH?

1. Remembering the creator and his creation (Exod 20:8-11)
2. Rest from all unnecessary work (Ecodus 20:10-11)
3. Doing good (Matt 12:12)
4. Prayer (Acts 16:13; Matt 21:13)
5. Worship the creator (Isaiah 58:13-14; Ex 34:14; 1KING 9:6; Rev 14:6-12)

Song, praise, bible study, helping others, preaching the gospel, resting, prayer, seeking God, remembering the creator and his creation. Walking in nature, going to church with like minded believers. (too many scriptures)

WHAT IS NOT LAWFUL ON GOD'S SABBATH?

WORK; all business and secular work as well as any domestic work; cooking, cleaning; shopping, buying and selling that can be done on any other day of the week and anything to do with work (Exodus 20:8-11; Ex 16:22-23; Matt 21:13).

.............

There is no purpose in FOLLOWING any of God's LAWs including the SABBATH if it is NOT done through FAITH that works by LOVE because it is ONLY as GOD writes his LAW to LOVE then we can take up our beds to follow him. LOVE is the fulfilling of GOd's LAW in those who BELIEVE (Rom 13:8-10)

God bless.

Could you show using Scripture only, the book, chapter and verse where the ten Commandments are actually numbered in the Bible?

Hi brother Fidelibus, nice to meet you here and welcome to the thread :).
You can find the 10 commandments that were spoken and written by God in order that they were spoken by GOD in EXODUS 20:1-17. There is no numbered system of God's 10 Commandments however. There is only the order in which they were spoken by God. The first four being our duty of LOVE to GOD and the second six as our duty of LOVE to our neighbor.

Hope this helps

God bless.

It's good that I agreed?? And no that is not at all what you showed me. I agreed with nothing, and allow me to show you how you have resorted to flat out not telling the truth, and remember lying is one of the 10 commandments, and one of those sins also in the lists that I mentioned that will keep us from the Kingdom of God. Then recall you said you don't sin, which I'll now prove is another untruth. And I point that out for your own good, repent and stop doing it.

Now brother Kenny, none of that has any truth to it whatsoever? Where have I ever posted to you that I am not a sinner in need of a Saviour? It is only by the grace of GOD that any of us can LOVE and follow God's WORD *JOHN 14:15 as we walk in his Spirit *GALATIONS 5:16. Jesus came to save us from sin not to continue in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN *JOHN 8:31-36. Those who continue in known UNREPENTANT SIN do not enter the KINGDOM of HEAVEN because they reject the free gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23; HEBREWS 10:26-27. Neither do they know God *1 JOHN 2:3-4. These have a form of Godliness but deny God's power to save them from their sins *2 TIMOTHY 3:5. Only God's WORD is true brother and we should believe and follow it. Anything else will keep us out of God's KINGDOM.
You now say I have seen the term "Israel" there and it was there all along, but here is what was said:
LoveGodsWord said: Gentile believers are now grafted in to God's ISRAEL *ROMANS 11:16-23.
And I said: The term "Isreal" is not even mentioned in that scripture. Is that another unfounded conclusion you all created? If not, how do you conclude that from that scripture.
Now, look at the scripture you were talking about when making the claim (ROMANS 11:16-23.) and show me where it even mentions Isreal? What you just did was grab other scripture with the term "Israel" in it, and try to slip one by me/us...shame on you. It is not there now, it never was and never will be in spite of your efforts.
Well that has no truth in it either brother. I refer you to post # 195 linked. You are simply repeating yourself now Kenny and making statements that are just not true at all. You even stated after this post in your own words...
Kenny'sID said: I'm not pretending, you have now showed me the word "Israel"
Kenny don't pretend your question was not answered brother. I highlighted v26 in ROMANS 11 which was talking about ISRAEL and says so. v13-26 is discussing God's people ISRAEL as a tree connected to CHRIST as the root v18 and that those in UNBELIEF were broken off v20 so that the GENTILES could be GRAFTED in among them v13-20. Who is them? ISRAEL v17-26. This was than connected to the NEW COVENANT promise. Pauls conclusion that of v13 to 26 is summed up here.

ROMANS 11:26, And so ALL ISRAEL SHALL BE SAVED: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob

ISRAEL was also clearly defined in God's WORD in post # 195 linked. Please feel free to address the scriptures provided to you if you disagree. In the scripture study on who God's ISRAEL is in the NEW COVENANT you were provided 36 scriptures in a detailed scripture study post # 195 linked that shows who God's ISRAEL is in the NEW COVENANT in reply you have not posted as single scripture except to say you disagree? Now who should we believe? You or God's WORD?
Once again, this is how SDA/you reach the conclusions you do, you slip things in there that are not fact. You create your own truth by twisting scripture. So, yeah, you have cited scripture, perverted scripture. In itself that one thing isn't that big a deal, but my point is that is exactly how you all work. If you cannot get the Bible to say what you want it too, you will make it say what you want it too by resorting to trickery.
None of your claims here Kenny have any truth in it. Do you have any scripture to share or did you wish to address and discuss the scriptures in the posts provided to you that disagree with you brother? You have only been provided God's WORD brother and it seems you do not wish to discuss it.
Now I'm being accused of saying the command was abolished? A question follows this so please don't skip it. Show me where I even indicated it was abolished? Have I not more than indicated a few times it was still in affect for Israelite's?
Now Kenny really? Where have I ever accused you of anything in the post you are responding to? All I have said in that post is as quoted...
LoveGodsWord said: Your first post does not answer the question where in God's WORD does it say God's 4th commandment is now ABOLISHED
It is a question that you have not answered. The same as the question in this OP where is the scripture that says the LORD'S DAY is SUNDAY? It is not an accusation it is a question brother. Now if you (by you I mean anyone of us) cannot show the scriptures that say God's 4th Commandment has been abolished like any of God's other Commandments that give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN AND RIGHTOEUSNESS *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172. Than breaking God's 4th commandment just like breaking any of God's 10 Commandments is sin *JAMES 2:10-11; 1 JOHN 3:4; ROMANS 7:7. God's WORD says all those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENATANT SIN will not enter in to God's KINGDOM because they reject the free gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23; HEBREWS 10:26-27; HEBREWS 6:4-8
How can it be abolished for Gentiles when it never was meant for Gentiles. Now if you have proven at some point it was for Gentiles, please stop telling us you did so in this or that scripture, and cite the exact scripture and tell us "exactly" how it shows Gentiles are Israelite's as you claim. Seems to me a simple request and simple for you to show me if you are correct that is a fact. If you cannot show us precisely, then it's not there. Again, "Go look at this verse" does nothing, you have to show us exactly where that or any other verse says what you claim it does, something you have fallen terribly short of doing on several occasions.
This is only repitition brother Kenny and has already been addressed in detail in post # 195 linked. Did you wish to respond to the scriptures provided in this post that show that God's ISRAEL in the NEW COVENANT are all those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD (the Church). Gentiles are grafted in to God's ISRAEL *ROMANS 11:13-26. If you are not a part of God's ISRAEL than you have no part in the NEW COVENANT *HEBREWS 8:10-12.

Let me know when you have some scriptures to share.

May God help you as you seek him through his WORD.

The Lords day and the Sabbath are two different days. The Lords day is on Sunday and the Sabbath is on Saturday.

Hi brother thesunisout, nice to meet you and welcome :).

Did you get a chance to read the OP here? Where is the scripture that says that the LORD'S DAY is SUNDAY? Yet it is God's WORD that tells us the the LORD'S DAY is the SABBATH DAY *MATTHEW 12:8. Please feel free to show the scripture that says that the LORD'S DAY is SUNDAY or the first day of the week? Only God's WORD is true and we should believe and follow it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here. Look forward to you providing the scriptures for why you think that the LORD'S DAY is Sunday.

God bless.

It seems that way to you because that's the only thing you want to hear. Once again, in Matthew 12:8, Jesus was rebuking the Pharisees who accused the disciples of doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath, which does not prove the Lord's Day is Saturday. You maintain that the "Lord's Day" is the Sabbath and maintain that Jesus said he was Lord of the Sabbath, however that is a weak argument and the actual evidence for the first day (Sunday) is stronger, in spite of your long winded argument.

*In all the 5 books that John wrote, he always called the Sabbath "the Sabbath." If Revelation 1:10 was the Sabbath, John would have said, "I was in the Spirit on the Sabbath." This gives stronger evidence that it was not the Sabbath, but the first day of the week - Sunday.

Jesus rose on the first day (Sunday - Matthew 28:1 - After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week..) The Holy Spirit was given on Pentecost Acts 2:1, which always falls on a Sunday. The New Testament also uses the phrase "the first day of the week" both for the early morning (Mary Magdalene John 20:1) and evening (the disciples in John 2:19) of Resurrection Sunday, as well as for the breaking of bread at Troas (Acts 20:7) and the day for the collection at Corinth. (1 Corinthians 16:2) You can continue to worship a day and remain under the law if you like. I will continue to worship my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and commemorate His resurrection day, which is SUNDAY.

Hello Dan,

Much of what you post here is only repetition of what you posted earlier. This has been addressed in detail with the scriptures in post # 253 linked did you wish to address all the post and explain why you disagree with it? It seems you have ignored most of the scriptures provided in this post.

Could it be as you say that your view of Sunday worship only seems that way to you because that is what you wish to hear?

May I ask you do you brother in all respect and sincerity do you work on the Sabbath? If you do could this be a reason you do not wish to hear these scriptures? Please feel free to answer this question or not. You do not have to if you do not wish to brother. Something to think about and pray and ask yourself however as I believe you are sincere and wish to have a closer walk with Jesus.

The scriptures teach...

JOHN 3:16-21
[16], For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
[17], For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
[18], He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
[19], And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
[20], For every one that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
[21], But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are worked in God.

These scriptures apply to all of us. We need to examine and prove ourselves to see weather we are in the faith or not *2 CORINTHIANS 13:5. The question we need to ask ourselves everyday is do we really BELIEVE and FOLLOW GOD's WORD or not?

Only God's WORD is true and we should believe and follow it. JESUS says those who KNOWINGLY follow the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of GOD are not following God *MATTHEW 15:3-9.

The question I must ask myself when examining myself. AM I FOLLOWING God's WORD or not? To do this I must come to the light of God's WORD to see if my deeds are evil or not *JOHN 3:16-21. If my deeds are evil I will not come to God's WORD v19-20. If I believe and follow God's truth through his WORD *JOHN 17:17 then I will be happy to come to God's WORD v21. This is why JESUS says you shall know them by their fruits *MATTHEW 7:12-23 and IF you love me keep my commandments *JOHN 14:15. Those that do not know or LOVE JESUS do not keep his Commandments *1 JOHN 2:3-4.

Only sent in all love and respect brother. Only God's WORD is true and we should believe and follow it over the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of God *MATTHEW 15:3-9

PS. I see you made no attempt to address post #253 linked and all the scriptures in them that were addressed to you. Did you wish to address this post and the OP now or are you unable to? If you cannot address this post I hope at the very least it gives you something to think and pray about.

May God help you as you seek him through his Word.

Hello brother Dan, some comments for your consideration below.

The word "Sabbath" first appears in Exodus 16:23 - Then he said to them, “This is what the Lord has said: ‘Tomorrow is a Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. Bake what you will bake today, and boil what you will boil; and lay up for yourselves all that remains, to be kept until morning. Sabbath keeping with all it's rules and regulations, was part of a covenant with Israel (Exodus 16:23, 29; 31:12-18; 35:1-3; Leviticus 19:30; 23:2-3, 32; Numbers 15:32-36; 28:1-10; 29:39-40; I Chronicles. 23:30-31; II Chronicles 31:2-4; Isaiah 1:13; Amos 8:5; Nehemiah 10:31) that is not binding on Christians in the New Testament.

Well I liked all the scriptures you provided brother and enjoyed reading everything here until we get to the very last section which are only your words and not scripture where you say two things. 1. "Sabbath keeping with all it's rules and regulations, was part of a covenant with Israel" and 2. "The Sabbath is not binding on Christians in the New Testament".

...............

So your argument here is that God's 4th commandment SABBATH is 1. only for ISRAEL and 2. Not binding on christians in the New Testament. So brother if you do not mind I would like to bring this to the light of God's WORD to see if there is any truth in these claims as it it written in JOHN 3:16-21; ROMANS 3:4 because only God's WORD is true and we should believe and follow it over the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of God ACTS 5:29

...............

Q1. IS THE SABBATH ONLY FOR GOD'S ISRAEL?
A1. ABSOLUTELY! God's WORD is for all of ISRAEL! HOWEVER, what needs to be determined is WHO is ISRAEL in the NEW COVENANT as this brings us to the light of God's WORD and helps us to see what it is in God's WORD that is for Christians today.

Q2. WHO IS GOD'S ISRAEL UNDER THE NEW COVENANT?
A2. The name "Israel" is only a name given by God himself to represent his people. The origin of the name "Israel" come from Genesis 32:28 where Jacob wrestled with the Angel and prevailed ...for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. Its meaning is his posterity will rule as God. Jacob had 12 sons representing the 12 tribes of Israel.

ISRAEL (God’s new name given to Jacob) had 12 sons which make up the 12 tribes of ISRAEL

GENESIS 35:22-26 [22], ... Now the sons of Jacob were twelve: [23], The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun: [24], The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin: [25], And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali: [26], And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Paddanaram.

God’s promise of the NEW COVENANT is to ISRAEL…

JEREMIAH 31:31-34 [31], Behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: [32], Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; my covenant which they broke, although I was a husband unto them, says the LORD: [33], But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. [34], And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

144, 000 Come out of the 12 tribes of ISRAEL…

REVELATION 7:3-8 [3], Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads. [4], And I heard the number of them who were sealed: and there were sealed a hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. [5], Of the tribe of Judah were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand. [6], Of the tribe of Asher were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Naphtali were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasseh were sealed twelve thousand. [7], Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand. [8], Of the tribe of Zebulun were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.

Now we have shown the origin of the name ISRAEL let's look at the scripture in detail in the NEW TESTAMENT scripture to see who God's ISRAEL is...

EPHESIANS 2:11-13 [11], Why remember, that you being in TIME PAST Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

[12], That AT THAT TIME [in the Past] YOU WERE WITHOUT CHRIST, BEING ALIENS FROM THE COMMONWEALTH OF ISRAEL, STRANGERS FROM THE COVENANT OF PROMISE, HAVING NO HOPE, AND WITHOUT GOD IN THE WORLD: [13], BUT NOW IN CHRIST JESUS, YOU WHO WERE FAR OFF ARE MADE NEAR BY THE BLOOD OF CHRIST.

GALATIANS 3:28-29 [28], THERE IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: FOR YOU ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS AND IF YOU BE CHRISTS, THEN YOU ARE ABRAHAM'S SEED FOR YOU ARE ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS [29], and IF YOU BE CHRISTS, THEN ARE YOU ABRAHAM'S SEED, AND HEIRS ACCORDING TO THE PROMISE.

God's true ISRAEL in the NEW COVENANT are not by name only but all those in Christ. Those of the FLESH (sinful human nature) are not Abrahams seed but those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God in Christ are God's ISRAEL...

ROMANS 9:6-8 [6], FOR THEY ARE NOT ALL ISRAEL WHICH ARE OF ISRAEL,: [7], NEITHER, BECAUSE THEY ARE THE SEED OF ABRAHAM, ARE THEY ALL CHILDREN: but in Isaac shall thy seed be called <Christ> [8], That is, THEY WHICH ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE FLESH, THESE ARE NOT THE CHILDREN OF GOD: BUT THE CHILDREN OF THE PROMISE <those who believe> ARE COUNTED FOR THE SEED.

God's ISRAEL are all those in CHRIST that have been given a NEW HEART according to the NEW COVENANT promise...

ROMANS 2:28-29 [28], FOR HE IS NOT A JEW WHICH IS ONE OUTWARDLY; NEITHER IS THAT CIRCUMCISION, WHICH IS OUTWARDS IN THE FLESH: [29], BUT HE IS A JEW WHICH IS ONE INWARDLY; and CIRCUMCISION IS OF THE HEART, IN THE SPIRIT, AND NOT IN THE LETTER; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

In the NEW COVENANT all those in Christ are are God's ISRAEL...

COLOSSIANS 3:11 [11], WHERE THERE IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: BUT CHRIST IS ALL IN ALL.

ROMANS 10:11-13 [11], For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. [12], FOR THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JEW OR GREEK: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. [13], FOR WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.

The New Covenant is for God's Israel...

EZEKIEL 36:26-27 [26], A NEW HEART WILL I GIVE YOU, AND A NEW SPIRIT WILL I PUT WITHIN YOU; AND I WILL TAKE AWAY THE STONY HEART OUT OF YOUR FLESH, AND GIVE YOU A HEART OF FLESH. [27], AND I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU, AND CAUSE YOU TO WALK IN MY STATUTES AND YOU SHALL KEEP MY JUDGEMENTS AND DO THEM.

and again...

JEREMIAH 31:33-34 [33], BUT THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL; After those days, says the LORD, I WILL PUT MY LAW IN THEIR INWARD PARTS,AND WRITE IT IN THEIR HEARTS; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. [34], And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Paul proclaims it here...

HEBREWS 8:10-12 [10], BUT THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL; After those days, says the LORD, I WILL PUT MY LAW IN THEIR INWARD PARTS, AND WRITE IT IN THEIR HEARTS; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: [11], And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. [12], For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

The NEW COVENANT is for GOD'S ISRAEL which represent those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God’s WORD.

If you are not part of GOD'S ISRAEL then you are not a part of the NEW COVENANT (Hebrews 8:10-12).

............

CONCLUSION: God's ISRAEL is the name given by God to all those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD. GENTILES are now grafted in. If you are not a part of the God's ISRAEL then you have no part in the NEW COVENANT. GOD'S ISRAEL ARE ALL THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND FOLLOW GOD'S WORD (The Church)

So no brother MMD God's WORD does not agree with you here. Please look at the scriptures provided only as a help to you brother.

Now if every man from Adam to Moses kept the Sabbath, why is the Hebrew word for the weekly Sabbath found in the Ten Commandments, never found in the book of Genesis?

Well I do not know if every man from ADAM to MOSES kept the SABBATH as many people did not follow GOD or his WORD after ADAM. God has always had a people however that have followed him according to all the light of his Word that had been revealed to them weather that was shared by word of mouth or the word of God *ROMANS 10:17.

Now to your question ...

Q3. "Why is the HEBREW word SABBATH not being found in the book of GENESIS?"
A3. Good question let's take a look at it. GENESIS 2:1-3 is the ORIGIN of the SABBATH and says..

GENESIS 2:1-3 [1], Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
[2], And ON THE SEVENTH DAY God ended his work which he had made; and he RESTED ON THE SEVENTH DAY from all his work which he had made. [3], And GOD BLESSED THE SEVENTH DAY, and made it HOLY <the 7th day>: because that in it he had RESTED from all his work which God created and made.

The ROOT word used for SABBATH found in EXODUS is found in GENESIS which is also the ORIGIN of when the SABBATH was made in the creation week. The HEBREW word RESTED in GENESIS 2:2-3 is the root word of SABBATH.

REST = SHABATH שׁבת (H7373) this is the root word for SABBATH which is שׁבּת SHABBATH (H7676). Although REST (SHABATH) is the root word for SABBATH (SHABBATH) they are different HEBREW words and they have different meanings.

The difference between these is this...

ANSWER: The commandment to keep the SABBATH every Sabbath cannot be given before the SABBATH has been made, BLESSED, MADE HOLY and SET APART by God's WORD.

More to come...

Why is no one before Moses ever being told to keep the Sabbath? Why are there no examples of anyone keeping the Sabbath before Moses? Why were the Patriarchs never instructed about the Sabbath, but were instructed regarding: offerings: Genesis 4:3-4, Altars Genesis 8:20, Priests: Genesis 14:18, Tithes: Genesis 14:20, Circumcision: Genesis 17:10, Marriage: Genesis 2:24 and Genesis 34:9. *Why would God leave out the Sabbath command in Genesis if it was for everyone to keep before Moses?

Is that a true premise to your questions brother? I do not think so. Let's bring it to the light of God's WORD and see if we can find some answers.

Q4-6. Why is no one before Moses ever being told to keep the Sabbath? Why are there no examples of anyone keeping the Sabbath before Moses?

A4-6
. The SABBATH was made on the SEVENTH DAY of the CREATION WEEK *GENESIS 2:1-3. While MAN was made on the 6th day of the creation week *GENESIS 1:26-31. Now why did God make the SABBATH for? JESUS answers this very question and says *MARK 2:27, And he said to them, THE SABBATH WAS MADE FOR MAN, and not man for the sabbath. So the reason that the SABBATH was made was for man. ADAM and EVE represented our first parents and mankind. ADAM and EVE kept the first SABBATH in the garden of EDEN!

The SABBATH was handed down to thier CHILDREN as well as God's plan of salvation by word of mouth *ROMANS 10:17 for all those who wished to follow God's WORD. As it is written in the scriptures *GENESIS 26: Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. The HEBREW word used for laws in this scripture is TORAH. God's people knew what sin was before EXODUS all through this early period by hearing the WORD of GOD. They also offered sin offerings when they sinned during this early period. Let's look at some more examples from God's WORD...

Mankind was destroyed by a flood because of sin (Genesis 6:5-7) Jesus says that which defiles a man is an evil heart that breaks God’s commandments *MATTHEW 15:16:19.
Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed because of sin (Genesis 18:20). Jacob knew about sin when he complained to Laben when he left with his daughters (Genesis 31:36).
When Potiphar’s wife came to Joseph with the aim of committing adultery, Joseph knew it was sin and protested saying how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? (Genesis 39:9).

So, it is very clear that the spoken WORD of GOD included God’s Commandments. Not only as the KNOWLEDGE of what GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS were but also the laws for remission of sin [FORGIVENESS] if any of God’s laws were broken. If they had no law then they would have no knowledge of what sin is.

If they did not know what sin was there would have been no need of sin offerings. Yet here we also see in GENESIS 22:2-7 that it was a regular practice for Abraham and his family to offer burnt offerings for sin. So before Mt Sinai God’s people had the spoken Word of God and practiced the TORAH of the OLD COVENANT.

After slavery to the Egyptians they received the written Word of God but through all this time God’s people had a knowledge of what sin was and what to do if sin was committed. God said in Genesis 4:7 to Cain when he was angry because he did not worship God in his appointed way that by doing this it was sin and it lies at his door. Jesus says the same in Matthew 15:3-9 that if we follow and teachings of men that break the commandments of God we are not following God.

Mankind was destroyed by a flood because of sin (Genesis 6:5-7). Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed because of sin (Genesis 18:20). As through God's WORD BEFORE Mt SINAI God destroys mankind for evil and sin with a flood as well as Sodom and Gommorah with fire and the Epyptians with plagues for disobedience to God's WORD *GENESIS 6:5-13; GENESIS 13:10-13; 18:20-33; 19:24; EXODUS 9:13-14.

If there was no knowledge of sin there would be no punishment for it. God’s WORD is very clear that all of God’s Commandments were kept by God’s people before the written WORD through the Spoken WORD of GOD.

God's 10 commandments give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN AND RIGHTEOUSNESS. *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172. IF we break ANY ONE of them we stand guilty before God of SIN *JAMES 2:10-11.

God's 4th Commandment is one of the 10 commandments that give us a knowledge of what sin is if broken. Those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter the KINGDOM of HEAVEN because they reject the GIFT of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23; HEBREWS 10:26-27; HEBREWS 6:4-8. Neither do they know God and need to seek him for forgiveness and repentance *1 JOHN 2:1-4; PROVERBS 28:13; 1 JOHN 1:9.

.............

CONCLUSION: God's SABBATH was made for mankind. ADAM and EVE were the first to keep it with God in the Garden of Eden. God's WORD and God's laws were known by the spoken WORD of GOD passed down to God's people from ADAM and EVE from generation to generation. All of God's TORAH was practiced before SINAI this included sin offerings. God has always had a people that followed his WORD. Not all people followed God's WORD.

Although God's rest on the seventh day (Genesis 2:3) did foreshadow a future Sabbath law, there is no Biblical record of the Sabbath before the children of Israel left the land of Egypt. Nowhere in Scripture is there any hint that Sabbath keeping was practiced from Adam to Moses.

This section was already covered in the previous section with God's WORD showing that God has always had a people that have followed his TORAH in the OLD TESTAMENT from ADAM and EVE onwards. However, I wanted to add that when God's people after JOSEPH were in EGYPT they eventually became slaves to the Egyptians. During this time many lost sight of God's WORD and were not able to practice it until after God delivered them through MOSES. Even then they knew about the SABBATH before it was commanded and spoken by GOD himself and written by God's own finger on two tables of stone *EXODUS 16:23

The Word of God makes it quite clear that Sabbath observance was a sign between God and Israel: “The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he abstained from work and rested” (Exodus 31:16-17). Are you an Israelite under the law in the OT?

Indeed see the previous section and posts on who GOD'S ISRAEL are. God's ISRAEL in the NEW COVENANT are all those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD. Gentiles are now grafted in to God's ISRAEL *ROMANS 11:13-26. If you are not a part of God's ISRAEL you have no part in the NEW COVENANT *HEBREWS 8:10-12. God's SABBATH is an everlasting COVENANT to ISRAEL which is a name given by GOd himself to all those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD (the Church).

In Deuteronomy 5, Moses restates the Ten Commandments to the next generation of Israelites. Here, after commanding Sabbath observance in verses 12–14, Moses gives the reason the Sabbath was given to the nation Israel: “Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day” (Deuteronomy 5:15).

Amen! Thanks for sharing this. God's WORD is for God's people. This is the origin of where and why the written word was given. It is because God's people were slaves of Egypt and God delivered them showing great signs and wonders. We are not to forget this. God's 4th Commandment is an everlasting covenant with his people (the Church) just as all God's 10 Commandments are his eternal law. *EXODUS 20:1-17 however is the SPOKEN WORD of GOD where God spoke these words personally to God's people.

*Nowhere in the New Testament is the Church commanded to keep the weekly Sabbath day and to the contrary we find -- (Colossians 2:16-17)

All through the OLD and NEW TESTAMENT scripture all of God's Commandments are repeated and restated. We are to live by EVERY WORD that proceeds out of the mouth of GOD *MATTHEW 4:4. All the 10 commandments were the spoken WORD of God *EXODUS 20:1-17 God's 4th Commandment is one of the 10 Commandments spoken by God and written on the two tables of stone with God's own finger *EXODUS 31:18. God's 10 commandments are the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4; PSALMS 119:172. If we break any one of them we stand guilty before GOD of sin *JAMES 2:10-11. Those who continue in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN do not enter God's KINGDOM because they reject the free gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23; HEBREWS 10:26-27. This is the difference between the Children of GOD and the Children of the devil *1 JOHN 2:3-4; 1 JOHN 3:3-10. God's people keep all of God's commandments through faith in God's WORD *REVELATION 12:17; REVELATION 14:12; REVELATION 22:14; 1 JOHN 2:3-4.

Finally by quoting COLOSSIANS 2:16 you are mixing up the Shadow laws from the MOSAIC BOOK of the COVENANT *EXODUS 24:7 with God's eternal law that give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTOEUSNESS.

Sorry brother MMD, God's WORD disagrees with you. Please feel free to address the posts I have provided for you if you disagree.

Amen! Notice that the Greek word "sabbatismos" is used no where else in the Bible! Amazing that Sabbatarians would suggest that this is the word for "keeping the weekly Sabbath" when it is never used anywhere else, in spite of the many references to Jews keeping the weekly Sabbath in the NT. :)

W. E. Vine, Greek Dictionary on "Rest" shows the Sabbatarian argument to be wrong:

SABBATISMOS (4520), a Sabbath-keeping, is used in Hebrews 4:9, R.V., "a Sabbath rest," A.V. marg., "a keeping of a Sabbath" (akin to sabbatizoµ, to keep the Sabbath, used, e.g., in Ex. 16:30, not in the N.T.); here the Sabbath-keeping is the perpetual Sabbath rest to be enjoyed uninterruptedly by believers in their fellowship with the Father and the Son, in contrast to the weekly Sabbath under the Law. Because this Sabbath rest is the rest of God Himself, 4:10, its full fruition is yet future, though believers now enter into it. In whatever way they enter into Divine rest, that which they enjoy is involved in an indissoluble relation with God.

Hello MMD nice to see you again brother I think it would be good to examine your claims in thos post in detail. Thanks for posting this.

We should bring everything to the light of God's WORD and test it's claims with the scriptures. The GREEK or HEBREW is good to understand as we study the scriptures. However GREEK and HEBREW definitions in isolation of the CONTEXT and of the scriptures and chapter can lead to an incorrect interpretation of the scriptures especially if the GREEK or HEBREW words have more than one specific meaning. Let's examine the word used in HEBREWS 4:9 in detail starting with the word meaning than it's application and CONTEXT and application within HEBREWS chapter 4.

I will not use Vines dictionary interpretation of Sabbatismos as I have read from some scholars that it is in error and others do not agree with his interpretation (e.g. some independent sources for this claim linked here click me 1, 2, 3).

So for HEBREWS 4:9's use of the word Sabbatismos we will use the STRONGS CONCORDENCE and Greek LEXICON.

GREEK INTERLINEAR

HEBREWS 4:9 άρα (Then) απολείπεται (there is left) σαββατισμός (a Sabbath rest) τω (to the) λαώ (people) του θεού (of God)

STRONGS LEXICON
So ἄρα (ara) Conjunction Strong's Greek 686: Then, therefore, since. Probably from airo; a particle denoting an inference more or less decisive.
there remains ἀπολείπεται (apoleipetai) Verb - Present Indicative Middle or Passive - 3rd Person Singular Strong's Greek 620: From apo and leipo; to leave behind; by implication, to forsake.
a Sabbath rest σαββατισμὸς (sabbatismos) Noun - Nominative Masculine Singular
Strong's Greek 4520: A keeping of the Sabbath, a Sabbath rest. From a derivative of sabbaton; a 'sabbatism', i.e. the repose of Christianity.
for the τῷ () Article - Dative Masculine Singular Strong's Greek 3588: The, the definite article. Including the feminine he, and the neuter to in all their inflections; the definite article; the.

of God. Θεοῦ (Theou) Noun - Genitive Masculine Singular Strong's Greek 2316: A deity, especially the supreme Divinity; figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very.

STRONGS CONCORDENCE
sabbatismos
: a sabbath rest Definition: a sabbath rest Usage: a keeping of the Sabbath, a Sabbath rest.

ENGLISHMAN'S CONCORDANCE
Hebrews 4:9 N-NMS GRK: ἄρα ἀπολείπεται σαββατισμὸς τῷ λαῷ NAS: there remains a Sabbath rest for the people KJV: therefore a rest to the people INT: Then remains a sabbath rest to the people

As can be seen in the above definitions, no where does the GREEK word definitions say that sabbatismos is not referring to God's SEVENTH DAY SABBATH. In fact the definition of the Greek Word sabbatismos is a keeping of the Sabbath rest. This is why the majority of bible translations translate the word REST (sabbatismos) in Hebrews 4:9 as SABBATH rest or a keeping of the Sabbath...

New International Version
There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God;

English Standard Version
So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God,

Berean Study Bible
So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

Berean Literal Bible
So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

New American Standard Bible
So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

Holman Christian Standard Bible
Therefore, a Sabbath rest remains for God's people.

International Standard Version
There remains, therefore, a Sabbath rest for the people of God to keep,

NET Bible
Consequently a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God.

New Heart English Bible
There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

Aramaic Bible in Plain English
So then, it remains for the people of God to keep the Sabbath.

New American Standard 1977
There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

American Standard Version
There remaineth therefore a sabbath rest for the people of God.

Darby Bible Translation
There remains then a sabbatism to the people of God.

Weymouth New Testament
It follows that there still remains a sabbath rest for the people of God.

World English Bible
There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

Young's Literal Translation
there doth remain, then, a sabbatic rest to the people of God,

The GREEK Words for Sabbath are sabbaton and sabatismos; The origin of sabbatismos is from sabbaton. Let’s look at the meanings…

1, SABBATON;
Strong's Concordance;
σάββατον; SABBATON; sab'-bat-on Of Hebrew origin [H7676]; the Sabbath (that is, Shabbath), or day of weekly repose from secular avocations (also the observance or institution itself); by extension a se'nnight, that is, the interval between two Sabbaths; likewise the plural in all the above applications: - sabbath (day), week.

2. SABBATISMOS
1. Strongs Concordence; SABBATISMOS: a sabbath rest; Original Word: σαββατισμός, οῦ, ὁ; Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine; Transliteration: sabbatismos; Phonetic Spelling: (sab-bat-is-mos') Short Definition: a Sabbath rest; Main Definition: a keeping of the Sabbath, a Sabbath rest.

2, NAS Exhaustive Concordance Word Origin from a derivation of sabbaton; Definition a sabbath rest NASB Translation Sabbath rest (1).

3, GREEK Lexicon - a Sabbath rest; σαββατισμός sabbatismos a sabbath rest as a derivative of sabbaton

4, GREEK Interlinear - So therefore there remains a sabbath rest to the people of God (This is the literal GREEK translation of the Hebrews 4:9)

5, Abbot Smiths Greek Lexicon of the New Testament *σαββατισμός, -οῦ, ὁ (<σαββατίζω, TO KEEP THE SABBATH, Exo 16:30, al.), A KEEPING SABBATH, A SABBATH REST: metaph., as in Mishna (Zorell, s.v.), Heb 4:9.

SABBATISMOS is taken from SABBATON meaning THE REST GIVEN IN GOD'S SEVENTH DAY SABBATH.

NOTE: The cyriac or Aramaic form of from which SABBATISMOS is taken is therefore the most accurate translation and reads...

HEBREWS 4:9 SO THEN IT REMAINS FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD TO KEEP THE SABBATH

Sabbatismos rest (Sabbath rest” sabbatismos, Heb. 4:9) is to be distinguished from the more frequently used katapausis rest (Heb. 3:11, 18; 4:1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, and 11), which means “resting place” or “calming.” Sabbatismos, which is derived from either the noun sabbaton (Strong’s) or from the verb sabbatizō (Vine’s and Moulton’s), means “Sabbath observance” or “Sabbath kind of rest” (Bauer, Arndt, & Gingrich). The verb form sabbatizō is is used in the LXX to mean “keep the Sabbath” (Exo. 16:30; Lev. 23:32; 26:34; 2 Chr. 36:21)

...................

NOTE: Now we have gone through the Greek word definitions of SABBATISMOS in detail from the Different concordances, lexicons, interlinears and also looked at other parallel translations that show that SABBATISMOS is in reference to the keeping of the God's SABBATH rest, let's now have a look at the CONTEXT and within scripture and chapter application of SABBATISMOS in HEBREWS 4.

...................

ADDING THE CONTEXT; WHAT SABBATH REST ARE WE TALKING ABOUT?

HEBREWS 4
1,
Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2, For to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3, For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4, For he spoke in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5, And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

NOTE
: CONTEXT is God's REST from the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH REST OF CREATION (v4-5) and those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW GOD's WORD enter into God's SABBATH REST as GOD did on the SEVENTH DAY of the week. CONTEXT is GOD's SEVENTH DAY SABBATH REST and those who believe or do not believe God's WORD and enter into that rest.

6, Seeing therefore it remains that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7, Again, he limits a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8, For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9, There remains a SABBATH REST to the people of God.

Now notice Hebrews 4, verse 9: “There remains therefore a SABBATH rest to the people of God.” In verses 1, 3, 4 and 8, the Greek word for “rest” is katapausin. It means “rest.” But in verse 9, the Greek word for “rest” is sabbatismos, which is a Hebrew word—Sabbat, which means “the Sabbath”—combined with a Greek suffix—ismos, which means “a keeping of” or “a doing of.” Put together, sabbatismo means “a keeping of the Sabbath.” When correctly translated, Hebrews 4:9 should read, “There remains therefore a keeping of the Sabbath to the people of God.”

10, For he that is entered into his rest (v9 SABBATH REST), he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11, Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief (Heb 3).

.................

CONCLUSION: HEBREWS 4 is talking about the Gospel rest of BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God's WORD; v29 Learn of me; v30 my burden (doing) is light. This agrees with Hebrews 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. HEBREWS 4:9 is in reference to God's SEVENTH DAY SABBATH RES which is the CONTEXT shown in HEBREWS 4:1-5. HEBREWS 4 therefore with context added is saying that no one enter God's Sabbath rest if they do not BELIEVE God's WORD or follow it.

Sorry MMD, looks like God's WORD disagress with you.

Hope this helps.

May God bless you as you seek him through his Word.

You made some very good points Monna!

Sabbatarians have asked for a text in the Bible that shows worship on Sunday. Here it is below:

LEVITICUS 23:5-11 - Notice verse 11: "And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord for you to be accepted; on the day after the sabbath the priest shall wave it." The day after the Sabbath is Sunday.

Read on and notice in Leviticus 23:15 - You shall also count for yourselves from the day after the sabbath, from the day when you brought in the sheaf of the wave offering; there shall be seven complete sabbaths. You shall count fifty days to the DAY AFTER THE SEVENTH SABBATH; then you shall present a new grain offering to the Lord. This is the Feast of Pentecost. It was one of the compulsory feasts of Israel.

Note on the day of Pentecost, a Sunday God's people were commanded to worship. God says, "On this same day you shall make a proclamation as well; you are to have a holy convocation. You shall do no laborious work. It is to be perpetual statute in all your dwelling places throughout your generations." Leviticus 23:21.

If Sabbatarians think this is only applying to "ceremonial" days, Leviticus 23 starts out talking about the weekly Sabbath (see Leviticus 23:1-4). It's called an appointed time and a holy convocation, along with all the other feast days of Israel. This would mean that under the Old Covenant the First Fruits Sunday and the Pentecost Sunday were sanctified along with Saturday.

Hello brother happy to help you with this one as well as I think your drawing a very long bow trying to apply the FEAST OF FIRST FRUITS to Sunday worship. It actually points to Christs resurrection. 1 CORINTHIANS 15:20-23; ROMANS 11:16

The scriptures you have provided above are in reference to one of the annual feasts specifically from the FEAST OF FIRST FRUITS which does not have anything to do with SUNDAY worship as you suggest.

The FEAST OF FIRST FRUITS was the celebration of the first fruits of the harvest. It was a shadow that pointed to the RESURECTION of JESUS as the type of FIRST FRUITS of the resurrection of God's people from the dead (FIRST FRUITS).

In the tomb JESUS rested the SABBATH day according to the commandment and resurrected on SUNDAY this was the fulfillment of this Shadow feast day of the FEAST OF FIRST FRUITS.

1 CORINTHIANS 15:20-23
[20], But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept. [21], For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. [22], For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. [23], But every man in his own order: Christ the first fruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

Happy to also discuss anything else in LEVITICUS 23 and the annual festivals if you like, just let me know?

Amen! Psalm 118:22-26 prophecies the first day of the week:

"The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief corner stone. This is the Lord's doing; It is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it. O Lord, do save, we beseech You; O Lord, we beseech You, do send prosperity! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord; We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.
"

It's obvious that resurrection day, is the day the Lord made. Sunday (resurrection day) is the day the Lord made. The first day (Sunday) is the Lord's Day!

Amazing. How you interpret these scriptures as God's 4th Commandment being abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day is beyond me. You may need to do a little better than that my friend. o_O

Only said in love and all respect in the Lord Jesus.

God bless you as you seek him through his Word.

God has his people in all his Churches living up to all the light that God has given them. Pehaps he has brought you to this thread to help you and to tell you.

May God bless you as you seek him through his Word.
no, he hasnt . just as years back he told me not to circumcise my son .. it would only risk bring him into condemnation . living a resurrected life in the eternity of Christ Jesus and his eternal rest is everything about dying to the old in every form . you still trying to get righteous by works of law . that needs to die now .

Not at all brother Alithis, God does indeed have his people in all Church's living up to all the light God has revealed to them. God is calling his people out however where ever they may be to worship and follow him in Spirit and in truth according to his Word. My righteousness is by faith in God's WORD through my LORD JESUS CHRIST. We are only saved by GRACE through faith and not of our selves it is a GIFT of GOD and not of works lest any man should boast *EPHESIANS 2:8.

The gospel however is the POWER of GOD unto salvation from sin to everyone who believes and follows God's WORD * ROMANS 1:16.

Jesus says They that be whole need not a physician but they that are sick. I am not come to call the RIGHTEOUS but sinners to repentance, go learn what that means *MATTHEW 9:12-13. Jesus also says; IF you continue in my WORD then are you my disciples in deed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free from sin *JOHN 8:31-36.

This is the difference between those who have a FORM of godliness but deny the power of GOD and those who have righteousness by faith to walk in God's Spirit *2 TIMOTHY 3:5; GALATIANS 5:15.

This is why Jesus says truly, truly I say unto you unless a man in born again he cannot see the kingdom of heaven *JOHN 3:3-8. Those that are born again do not practice sin because they have a new heart to LOVE *1 JOHN 3:9. Those who continue in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN have neither seen him wo know him *1 JOHN 2:3-4; 1 JOHN 3:6. This is the difference between the children of God and the children of the devil *1 JOHN 3:9-10. Faith without works is dead *JAMES 2:18-20. True faith has the fruit of OBEDIENCE to God's WORD *ROMANS 13:8-10 and is why we need a NEW HEART to LOVE which is the NEW COVENANT promise *HEBREWS 8:10-12. LOVE IS THE FULFILLING of God's LAW in all those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD and walk in his SPIRIT *ROMANS 13:9-10; GALATIANS 5:16; ROMANS 8:1-4.

God's LAW only remains on letters of stone to all those who break it.

................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4) Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

Thanks for sharing your thoughts however.

May God bless you as you seek him through his Word.

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

Thanks for sharing your thoughts however.

May God bless you as you seek him through his Word.
i do seek him through the lord Jesus --his word .the lord Jesus is not a book .
the book speaks about him and records things he has said . but the lord Jesus is not a book . we dont worship a book but the one who the book points us to . you worship the book .
and are in bondage .
cam prove you are not free but in bondage . but not to win an argument here ..

your of course allowed to observe your sabbath if you wish . but to impose that on any one else is wrong .
im allowed to not keep it and to impose not keeping it would be wrong .

but in Christ im free. if i observe it i'm happy and at peace with God
if i do not observe it i'm happy and at peace with God for i am eternally in Christ born again a new creation .. not the old not under the curse of sin and old law which proved sin.

but if you observe it you feel self justified amd if you do not observe it you fell guilty of breaking the law .. that is not freedom that is bondage .
you may not be honest about this fact . but it remains from this moment on a fact you are now aware of whether you are honest about it or not .

and lest be fair - many sunday observers are worse off . for they to feel guilt if the do not observe sunday in some form and also are in bondage which is imposed upon them by leaders telling them they must observe sunday traditions
whole other leaders tell you you must observe Saturday tradition
meanwhile the lord Jesus is saying - follow ME .

so it remains the factual truth - if you have ANY sense of guilt for NOT observing a day - then your under a bondage to the observance of that day and have not yet entered into His rest .
