Why are people unable to find happiness? Rather they suffer from family problems, health problems, financial problems, mental problems, and worries about the future. In a desperate pursuit of happiness, they drink, gamble, turn to drugs or reckless living only to fall deeper into despair. Why?
1. It is because people are separated from God.
1) Due to their disobedience they became ignorant of God. John 10:10, Romans 3:23
2) As the result, they fell into a state of sin. Romans 3:10
3) They fell into all kinds of suffering.
(1) They have mental suffering. Matthew 11:28
(2) They live meaningless and unbalanced lives. Matthew 12:25
(3) They suffer from physical illness. Act 8:7-8, Matthew 8:16-17
(4) The root cause - spiritual problem
4) In search of answers, they turn to superstitions or religions.
2. The Bible tells us when this unhappiness began.
1) It began with the very first people, Adam and Eve.
2) The root cause Genesis 3:1-15 - sinned by disobeying God's word.
3) The result Genesis 3:16-19 - fell into suffering and curses
3. How long will this unhappiness last?
1) I continues even now. Ephesians 2:1-2
2) It is increasing. Matthew 11:28-29
3) The more we try to solve it, the worse it gets. Matthew 12:43-45
4. Why does this unhappiness not go away?
1) There is a being who brings us unhappiness.
2) His name is revealed in the Bible.
(1) Satan (2) The Devil (3) Demons
3) When did he appear?
(1) An angel became corrupt. Ezekiel 28:14-19
(2) He was cast out from heaven and hurled into the air. Ephesians 2:2
(3) He roams the earth to destroy people.
(4) Eventually, he will be sent to Hell. Matthew 25:41
5. What Happens if you remain ignorant of God?
1) Spiritual problems will come. John 8:44
2) You suffer without knowing why. Acts 10:38, 8:7-8
3) You do not have happiness. Matthew 12:25-28
4) There is no peace in your heart. Matthew 11:28
5) You suffer physically. Acts 8:4-8
6) You suffer mentally. Acts 16:16-18
7) You are destined for Hell. Luke 16:19-31
6. The peace you gain from the people of the world is momentary. Temporary
1) It is worldly.
2) It is carnal.
3) It is only for pleasure.
4) It causes greater unhappiness.
7. That is why people seek out fortune-telling, psychics, possession rituals, idols, and religions.
1) Long term exposure to these areas leads to failure.
2) You grow increasingly unhappy.
8. There is way to be eternally free.
1) Realize the fact that humankind fell into suffering because of the sin of disobeying God's Word. Humankind's fundamental problem Genesis 3
2) Believe and accept Jesus Christ. John 1:12
3) You will have the authority of being with God. Matthew 28:20
