I'm sure we are all watching the general situation prayerfully.
Both priests in that parish have been suspended by the Exarchate
Archevêché des églises russes en Europe occidentale - Communiqué du Bureau de l’Archevêque du 1er novembre 2018
Lord have mercy !
Huh. So now ROCOR / the MP can't unsuspend them, right? Or they'll be doing one of the things they accuse the EP of?Both priests in that parish have been suspended by the Exarchate

But what if the Church eventually agrees that HAH was not in error? Then will these priests have been in error?no, it's not the same. the schismatics were never IN the Church. it's not like the EP for that reason. plus history has shown a ton of times where priests left their bishops for others because their bishops were in error.
Also, I thought Filaret was unanimously understood to have been a canonical hierarch in the past. Is that not so?no, it's not the same. the schismatics were never IN the Church. it's not like the EP for that reason. plus history has shown a ton of times where priests left their bishops for others because their bishops were in error.

Why was he anathematized?yes, but he lost that when he was anathematized which was unanimously accepted.
Why was he anathematized?
Also to make sure I'm understanding -- Filaret was a hierarch, then he was deposed as a heretic, but he was like "nah I'm still a bishop", and that created his schismatic group?
Depending on how the parish is organized, yes easily or yes difficultly. Can a parish/priest just vote to change jurisdictions? I'm pretty sure they can't.
I know a priest has to apply to both jurisdictions for permission, and the reasons would factor in too.
Just imagine if anyone but the Russian Church actually gave two craps about what the Ukrainian Church thinks and wants ...
Well, it's not half as bad as I was worried it could be by now. So far it's a one-way break in communion. I know it is affecting people (mostly people who have absolutely no power over any aspect of the situation) and I don't mean to downplay that, but strictly speaking, I think, it isn't schism. The MP is still in full communion with, say, the OCA...and the OCA is still in full communion with the EP.I tend to side with Ukraine over Russia myself, but this situation is ridiculous since it's causing schism in the church.
