Just thought it would be a funny response. Note to self: AV has his sense of humor turned off today. ;)
Sorry, but people who post and run get on my nervous system.

I'll make it up to you...here's one of my favorite DCTalk songs:

Their popularity was at its pinnacle when I was a young Christian, and the album this was from (Supernatural) contained a lot of songs that I still actually consider good music, rather than the cheesy stuff they came out with before it.

From your profile:
Do you really expect me to believe that?
What was it? the Reader's Digest codensed version?

Okay. Maybe I was exaggerating a bit. It was over 20 years ago...
I, however, did read through it at a very high pace. If it was more then a week, it wouldn't have been much more. I basically did nothing else during that period. When you read in a book every free minute of every day, you cover a lot of pages in a short while.

But I'm at a loss what that has got to do with the quote you are actually replying to.

What does it matter what He said? No, Mr ReadtheBiblecovertocover, here's what He said:

Genesis 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

It seems you didn't catch the obvious point being made.
Which is that only wizards make things appear by just "speaking".
I would have thought that the "abracadabra" mention would have been a dead give away.

I was too optimistic.

I think I asked you this once before, but whatever:
Do you hunt [our] dogma to ridicule it, or because you have an honest *cough* academic quest?

I'm just responding with the same level as the posts I'm replying too, in this particular case.
Frankly and honestly, if I get confronted with such "arguments" in real life conversations, I'ld probably just walk away thinking "crazy dude...."

I suspect both:
You have an academic spirit to find out what we believe, so you can please your inner spirits (muses) by ridiculing it.
Just like most other academians on earth.

It's actually neither.
I pretty much know what creationists believe. Am I aware of all the differing details of the different fundamentalist denominations and stuff? No. Am I interested in them? Not really.

I am aware of the core of it. And it's easily exposed as the nonsense that it is. So why would I care about the details of the nonsense? If the very foundation is already known to be nonsense, then the details of that foundation isn't going to magically make it better.

Then it's no wonder you're asking very basic questions.

Because you said this:
The bible is the very last book I'd pick up to tell me about morality.
His morals must not have sunk into your reading comprehension due to excessive speed.

Then it's no wonder you didn't get anything from It, as evidenced by your very basic line of questioning.

Do you remember what color Jesus' words were?

ETA: Sorry, I thought I was talking to DogmaHunter, who seems to have gone silent on me.

I wonder why? ;)

Not everybody is present on this forum every minute while being awake, like you.
In fact, I spend waaaay too much time on here as it is.

Excuse me that it took the full 57 minutes before I replied to your post....

I think it's funny how you assume that I never picked up the bible again after that initial read.

Did you miss how I encountered the bible at age 17? Or didn't I mention it? It could be that it wasn't mentioned.

Anyhow, it was because I transfered to a catholic school, where (christian) religion was a mandatory class. So my exposure to the bible wasn't limited to my reading of it. I went on to graduate in that catholic school and had 2 hours of religious class per week during those years.

And what we discussed there was.... You guessed it (or not): the bible.

In fact, one of my motivations to read through it at a high pace, was because it was the first time in my life that I had religious classes. While all my classmates had been in that school since the beginning and were "ahead of me" when it came to biblical knowledge. So next to basic healthy curiousity, I was also motivated by the idea that my fellow classmates knew about things that I didn't know about and thus were "ahead of me".

I didn't like that. I didn't like that they were talking about things in class as if it was common knowledge, whilet I didn't know anything about it. So I felt like I needed to catch up.

In short: you should stop assuming things about people.

What college taught you that?

Yes, I can hide something up my sleeve and produce it later by sleight-of-hand (actually I can't), but it has to exist first, or I can't put it up my sleeve, can I?

Do you really know what creatio ex nihilo is?

They don't teach magic in college.

No, I'm talking about actual magic. Not Penn and Teller magic, but Harry Potter magic.

"abracadabra" magic.

Do you really know what creatio ex nihilo is?

Yes. It's magic.

You were already here and left.

So now you are going to pretend that you know what I do at the other side of the world?
I made my post and closed my browser. I proceeded to write a sql query for a MS SQL database (I'm migrating data atm).

While waiting for the query to finish, I logged back in and saw I had alerts. One of which was your post.
I clicked it and responded.

Once again: you should really stop making assumptions about people.

Okay ... point taken ... I misjudged you.

I'm not a Catholic though.

That means I don't follow the coattails of every pope who becomes the Vicar of Christ by vote.

I assume then, that you're projecting your distaste for Catholicism on to Baptists?

Harry Potter magic runs on ink, not omnipotence.

You can believe what you wish, as you usually do.
But it won't change reality.

Do I really need to explain myself for not replying to your nonsense sooner then 57 minutes after you made your post?

Really?

Did it occur to you that people have a life outside of this forum?
