Yes, many hold onto what they believe to be true, whether it is or not. Like the misunderstanding concerning the TCs that I mentioned. Even you seem to be hanging on to a misunderstanding of the "using God's name in vain" commandment, thinking it refers to cussing. (it does not)

No. You cannot make scriptures say whatever you want with context. That is a misuse of context in my opinion. Context is an important tool for understanding the Bible. I will not let those promoting their own opinions CLAIM that context says otherwise. God meant one thing and one thing only. It is up to us to discern what that is.
Well all the Christians I know would agree with me what I stated was taking the Lords name in vain, even an sda minister

You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 2Cor3:3

So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. 5 For when we were in the realm of the flesh,a]'>[a] the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death. 6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code. Rom7:4-6

Context will soon put the above in its proper place :)

Indeed that is why it is important to consider context when posting the scriptures. No one here follows the written code. We follow the Word of God by faith to walk in God's Spirit. When we walk in God's Spirit we do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh *GALATIANS 5:16. It is the law of sin and death we are to die to not the law that gives us a knowledge of what sin is ROMANS 7:7.

And what would be your point after I posted that every person in every Church is at a different stage of their christian walk? All are growing in the knowledge and grace of God's WORD.

Does this mean that every Christian in any Church are God's people? The wheat and the tares grow together till the end of time. Only those who BELEIVE and FOLLOW God's WORD are God's people and are living up to all the knowledge that God has given them are God's people. These are in every Church.

What is your definition of the word "context"?
Do you understand the concept of "near" and "broad" context?

I begin with the verse on either side. (before and after) The "near" context. This is most important. Then move on the paragraph context. Then chapter context. This is the "broad" context. Then book context. And finally NT or OT context, which gives us whole Bible context. It is important to use the process. Work from near to broad.

Someone that comes with cherry-picked verses from all over the place is suspect. This is how a "house of cards" doctrine is defended, in the name of CONTEXT. (not true)

We could always talk about romans ch7, and how sin took occasion of the one of the ten commandments to arouse all manner of concupiscence in Saul the Pharisee? How could sin do that, because saul earnestly lived under a righteousness of obeying the lettrer of the law.
Of course, today we are told, you are not under righteousness of obeying the law-unless you break the law!

No, I have never heard of near and broad context, possibly that disqualifies me from understanding context

Why don't you wish to discuss the OP? Have you had a chance to read it? What are your thoughts on the scriptures provided?

Actually no it is not that I am aware of. It is there for all to see why are you saying it is a conspiracy theory when it is in wikipedia? * You can read about them here wiki CLICK ME
I'm not saying that laws are no longer on the books. They might be. But spitting on the sidewalk is still on the books. Do we hope to see that re-enacted?

I believe that the society is now too diverse to return to a "Christian" dominated culture. No one, including me, is going to let that happen. SDAs spin the tale as an end-times persecution against Sabbath-keepers being forced to observe Sunday. I cannot see that happening, given the current direction.

What do you think would cause such a thing?

What does quoting scripture matter? You can change it at will can't you?

Go on then, tell me why sinfull passions are aroused in people by the law if they live under it
Tell me how sin could take occasion of the commandment thou shalt not covet to arouse all manner of concupiscence in Saul the Pharisee

And tell me why the power of sin is the law 1Cor15:56

I think Steve, wheather the SUNDAY Blue laws will be re-enacted or not we do not need to worry. Time will tell. You are correct God's prophetic WORD we believe a Sunday law is coming. That being said you must agree it is an amazing coincidence that these laws are already on the books in most states in the US ready to go? Wheather they happen now in our lifetime or not I do not know.

In truth, everyone leaves debates with exactly the same beliefs they had when they joined them, nothing changes at all. And there is a very good reason for that

Steve, was your claims of Hebrews 10 that you provided earlier a good example of context for you?

Do you have spell check on your computer? It is probably there, you just need to turn it on, or use it. (wheather is not a word - should be whether in this context)

What is that "very good reason"? (plausible is not always good)
