Hate is a horrible, awful emotion. Hate is not to be tolerated, for it overloads us and can lead us away from true Biblical teachings.

I have seen some postings here of which I will not speak of which clearly indicate hate. Hate toward God, hate toward an opposing political party, hate toward friends and family who have done wrong, etc.

Hate does not belong in a Christian's life. It is okay to differ with an opposing political party (that is what voting is for), it is okay to differ with family and friends and that there is what prayer is for.

Hate toward God, hating Him, is something outside of the radar. Hating God and blaming Him for issues is not the answer.

Again, that issue needs to be addressed in prayer; for if you do not believe in God but hate Him, how can one hate something that does not exist for you but you blame Him?

That's very odd. I would ask all of us to be tolerant, to understand, to know He is there and instead of physically acting out, put the differences to prayer and study Jesus's precious Words.

Also remember the Ten Commandments. Love thy neighbor as yourself.

Please, I beg, if anyone hates, go to prayer before striking out verbally or worse, physically.

Remember God loves us all and so do I.

Thank you Emma, a very timely reminder for all of us.

One thing I ponder is that there are some people who seem to sow seeds of gossip, slander, discord etc wherever they go and I of course pray for them but sometimes you also have to step away from them as they can almost destroy you. (if it weren't for God)

I understand. But remember, gossip, slander, and discord are not of God. We have to be strong to remain in prayer and understand what is right and true. We must avoid this gossip, slander, and discord and pray that this is in His Hands and we must turn our heads away and keep those who do these things in prayer.

Not an easy thing, I know.

When you are wronged it's natural and human to feel bitterness. Otherwise you are a robot without any emotions. You need to get over it by giving it to the Lord and that I am doing. No one is born into this world as a perfect christian. We are born into sin and we are all sinners. No body is perfect. Yes, the Lord does say "Be holy, because I am holy." But that takes work. That takes prayer, fasting and a whole life time of figuring out your sins and turning from it. Anyway, I don't claim to be 100% perfect and holy like a pharisee claims to be.

Anger welled up in a person when one thought about judgement, revenge, fighting or resistance. Jesus taught people not only to endure a slap on the cheek, but to turn and offer the other cheek.

Loving one’s neighbors and enemies does not mean agreeing with everything they say and do. Luke 14:26

God hates. Here are a few examples from Scripture:

Proverbs 6:16-19
16 These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil,
19 A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.

Deuteronomy 16:21-22
21 "You shall not plant for yourself any tree, as a wooden image, near the altar which you build for yourself to the Lord your God.
22 You shall not set up a sacred pillar, which the Lord your God hates.

Zechariah 8:17
17 Let none of you think evil in your heart against your neighbor; And do not love a false oath. For all these are things that I hate,' Says the Lord."

King David, a man after God's own heart, wrote,

Psalms 101:3-4
3 I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me.
4 A perverse heart shall depart from me; I will not know wickedness.

Hate does not belong in a Christian's life.

Is it okay to hate, say, turnips, or sour milk? How about poisonous snakes, or dog doo-doo on your front lawn? Shouldn't we hate what is wicked as God does?

For your consideration, here is a search of the Holman's New Testament for the word "hate":

“You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. -Matt 5.43
“No one can be a slave of two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot be slaves of God and of money. -Matt 6.24
Then many will take offense, betray one another and hate one another. -Matt 24.10
salvation from our enemies and from the clutches of those who hate us. -Luke 1.71
You are blessed when people hate you, when they exclude you, insult you, and slander your name as evil because of the Son of Man. -Luke 6.22
“But I say to you who listen: Love your enemies, do what is good to those who hate you, -Luke 6.27
“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters — yes, and even his own life — he cannot be My disciple. -Luke 14.26
No household slave can be the slave of two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t be slaves to both God and money.” -Luke 16.13
The world cannot hate you, but it does hate Me because I testify about it — that its deeds are evil. -John 7.7
For I do not understand what I am doing, because I do not practice what I want to do, but I do what I hate. -Rom 7.15
Yet you do have this: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. -Rev 2.6
The 10 horns you saw, and the beast, will hate the prostitute. They will make her desolate and naked, devour her flesh, and burn her up with fire. -Rev 17.16

It's kind of funny. My pastor went on one week about how Christians aren't supposed to hate at all. I let him know I disagreed with that, as God hates sin. Then a few months later, some atrocious violent act happened in the news and he went on about how he hated violence as a response to that. Game, set, match. We all learn.
