What is the meaning of this expression as sometimes used by theologians? Does it make sense. I suppose I think of it as before time began.

We are finite creatures, so we want to put time into eternity by speaking of eternity past and eternity future. Of course, there is procession of time when thinking of eternity, which is an abiding presence, the immeasurable present.
