One is saved once they believe with the heart that Jesus is Lord, that he died for their sins, was buried and rose on the third day. It is also vital that they both believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. One cannot just believe in the death and not believe in the resurrection.

The moment one believes in the heart and accepts Jesus into their life, they will be given the Holy Spirit and born from above ("Born Again")

This will result into repentance and becoming a new creation when he is in Christ. Old things have passed and all things become new. Its end result is a life change (Sanctification) becoming more like Christ over time.

One who is saved will have desires to be baptized, part take in the bread and wine, and continue on their walk. These are outward changes in the result of faith.

But this is also not to say that people will all of a sudden be perfect after they are saved, but it is common to see an outward change that will progress overtime.

To become Born Again, or Saved, is very easy

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? - 1 John 5:5
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. - Romans 10:9

Some denominations make salvation so incredibly complicated that, for many, it is not easy to believe. As the Apostle says...

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. - 2 Corinthians 11:3

I also believe there is a growing process that needs to occur after the initial salvation.

The only book of the Bible that was written to tell people how to have Eternal Life, The Gospel of John. States over 70 times to receive Eternal Life.

Believe that Jesus of the New Testament is the promised Messiah from Old Testament prophecies, and trust in The Messiah for His gift of His Eternal Life and that is it no other condition is given in the Gospel of John to receive Eternal Life.

The Gospel of John list 8 miracles that Jesus does that shows He is the promised one from/of God, those are the signs in John 20:30

John 6:28,29
28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

John 20:31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

Hi John,
Please consider the many dozens of NT verses
which warn us of the dire consequences of
falling away (or drifting away) from the faith,
falling from grace, rejecting God, drawing back
unto perdition, etc.
Just because we are not taught these unpopular
spiritual Truths in our churches, does not mean
that they do not apply to us, or that they are
not valid warnings.
God is not exaggerating, bluffing, or lying!

Yes I am aware of the dangers of falling away.

Whether those who fall away can be renewed I don't know exactly. Hebrews 6 seems to contradict prodigal son parable. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is a mystery.

Could blasphemy of the Holy Spirit be done on a Sunday night on accident? I don't know if its that kind of thing.

John, I'm sure if you read carefully,
you will see that blaspheming the Holy Spirit
is simply giving credit for healing,
casting out demons, etc. to Satan
(instead of giving credit to the Holy Spirit).

Good Day, John

Not that I agree with every thing you said here it is quite general and not sure that the scripture would support all your conclusions here... but non the less a couple questions if I may...

"one is saved once they believe in their heart that Jesus is Lord"

Is Jesus's Lord ship dependent on some objective belief on it's validity?

If the Scripture paints a accurate of the heart of man how is it that they can even believe, assuming of course that believing is not evil...

Gen 6:5

Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Jer 17:9

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Just to press this a bit if I may. Paul says in Romans he died for the unrighteous (unGodly).. is believing or not believing "unrighteous" (unGodly) in your view?

For His Glory alone!!

Good Day, John

As to Hebrews 6 there are a few good resources out there. John Owen on Hebrews, Tom Schreiner on Hebrews, Pink on Hebrews and Don Carson did a short video series that is on line for Hebrews.

I'm not sure if I understand your question. But we are all sinners, thats why we need a savior.

Since no one can follow all the 613 commandments in the law, none is righteous in a sense. If we break one we break them all.

Good Day, John

How does a heart that is wickedly evil continually even entertain the proposition of believing?

In Him,

Bill

I don't understand why someone wouldn't want to believe.

As Jesus said it is not a question (primarily) of want.... but the reality of can't

John 6 - Universal inability to come to him, unless something is done by the Father to over come the inability.

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day

Your verse only talks about overcoming the world
(of non-believers) ... yes, believers have overcome
the big-time problem of the unbelievers!

But, this is who the real overcomers are ...
"To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me
on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down
with My Father on His throne." (Revelation 3:21)

Now, let's see ... what and who did Jesus overcome?
Hmmmm.
