A research lab is neither a button, nor a lever.

What I hear you saying is that an evolutionist would not hire a YEC.

And that's against the law in America.
. But you still don’t have to deliberately hire incompetents

TBH I think climate change denial and anti-vaccination conspiracies are more immediately dangerous.
But those idiotic ideas are basically science denial writ large

I can't think of an embarrassing moment in science, but did have difficulty in explaining how humans lived with dinosaurs. The physical evidence the creationists have isn't plentiful. Then the physical evidence is dodgy. On top of that, the anti-creationists have made up fake evidence to trick the creationists. Oh, the historical writings are fine, but the physical evidence such as footprints found on the same layer as dino fossils aren't true. They could have been made up like the apes to humans, ape-human fossils. Another is the Shroud of Turin. The Catholics will not believe that it's a forgery from the middle ages.

Yet, the evos have more embarrassing science on their side. Besides the apes to humans evidence, the birds from dinosaurs evidence is dodgy. Yet, they must have a common ancestor for everything or else evolution falls apart. Evolution hasn't produced much real science, so if one just ignores it, then they can live a perfectly productive life without it. Unless they teach the subject or have to be exposed to its theories often in their work. One of the stupidest things I heard was Neil DeGrasse Tyson stating that the egg came before the chicken because there was the proto-chicken that laid the egg. It's not his field of study. He doesn't understand how the egg was formed inside the chicken.

Physical evidence doesn’t support any creationist ideas . Since fish, “reptiles” and amphibians lay eggs they certainly came before chickens

No, it doesn't ha ha. Man, your logic is COLOSSALLY screwed up.

Chalk up another embarrassment por vous.

The chicken evidence is foolproof. It is a FACT now that chickens came first because the protein to make the eggshell can only be produced inside the hen.

We've all had those times in our lives in which we've made complete fools of ourselves publicly through our ignorance in one scientific topic or another. Sharing time! I shall go first.

My most embarrassing scientific error was mentioning cold fusion as a legitimate possible source of energy in the near future. I did this in a presentation in my introductory engineering class during my freshman year of college. I retroactively feel like such a moron for that, I bet the instructor internally cringed from that.

It could be worse. The paper was co-signed by a number of co-workers eager to have their name on the original research. Many people wanted to believe it was true.

But the protein is not unique to chickens. It is in all birds including the red jungle fowl from which chickens were domesticated.

I'm by nature very cautious when it comes to studies and presentations.

However, an industry based research group I was part of in the early 2000s overestimated how rapid the take-up of sustainable alternative fuels would be for aviation.

As of the end last year, we were out 10 fold. Yes, a full order of magnitude.

Basically, we expected oil prices to stay above ~$90 per barrel. When it plummeted in mid 08, and again in 2014, the money stopped for a lot of the development programmes as they were no longer price competitive.

In one of my publications, I failed to take into account residual phosphate in a compound that may have accounted for more of a particular impact on the results of a set of experiments than I assumed. A couple years later I was acting as a peer reviewer for a journal and a paper came across my desk which explicitly pointed this potential out and I heartily and positively recommended publication of this paper.

That's how science works. We learn from our errors and we ensure that our errors are noted.

When I first began posting, I posted that Mitochondrial Eve and Biblical Eve were the same person. This is completely false since Mt Eve walked this Earth long before Eve's descendants (Humans) arrived 11k years ago in the mountains of Ararat. Map: Fertile Cresent, 9000 to 4500 BCE Amen?

Physical evidence doesn’t support any creationist ideas .

Sure it does since Genesis 2:4 shows that the present Universe began at the end of the THIRD Day, which was 13.8 Billion years ago in man's time. It was late on the 3rd Day since it was less than a Billion years before the first Stars appeared on the 4th Day. Genesis 1:16 This is Scientifically correct since the BB happened on the 3rd and the first Stars light up on the 4th. This evidence could NOT have been known by any Being except God more than 3k years ago.

In grade four, my teacher told us that hummingbirds never land. That their legs shrivel up and they have to keep flying. My friend said that they saw one sitting on the clothes line. She centered him out and said that it must not have been a humming bird.

Then, another teacher told us that Native Indians of North America, didn't need to shave because they never had razors and never started... If they started shaving, then they would have to continue..

From these things, I learned that those standing up as a voice, teachers, coaches, adults, anyone who is telling you what is supposed to be truth, don't always tell the truth.

From there I researched and observed.

Since then, I have added to my list of things that were told to me that are not true. These now include:
Evolution,
Lemmings running off of cliffs,
Columbus discovering the Americas,
Egyptians building the Pyramids,
The moon landings,
The space program,
and Man influenced "climate change"

This post is awesome. It walks that razors edge between earnestness and satire and doesnt stumble for a second. Well done!

I love stories from people who've never really had a reason to be active in the sciences but yet find a way to turn a question like "what was YOUR most embarrassing science error?" into an attack on people who do.

Bravo.

It must be nice to be someone who doesn't ever make mistakes! Certainly none that you'd ever OWN UP to, right?

And it must be EVEN MORE FUN to not know anything really technically detailed about science so you can remain pure in your "opinion" of true/false in science.

LOL, you know nothing about my knowledge of science, yet attempt to assume.

Good work.

However, it is only those who are asleep and in the bliss of ignorance of true science that believe in Evolution, the Egyptian pyramids, lemmings, the Apollo missions, and human initiated climate change.

It is so much easier to fool someone than to prove to someone that they have been fooled.

Yet you haven't fooled anyone into believing the earth is flat, or that NASA is the head of a worldwide conspiracy.

Based on your "list" I'm going to assume you don't know very much, certainly not in the topics you have an "opinion" on.

However, it is only those who are asleep and in the bliss of ignorance of true science that believe in Evolution

LOL. OK.

human initiated climate change.

^^^^This is how I know you don't have much background in:

1. Chemistry
2. Physics
3. Earth science
4. Statistics

Did I miss anything important there?

It is so much easier to fool someone than to prove to someone that they have been fooled.

Must be nice to be so brilliant without benefit of any actual technical knowledge in so many fields!
