This is a sermon in itself. No WONDER as a kid i would look at the night sky and think of God and eternity. The night sky is sooooo....eternal. It's like it "speaks" of eternal God and the handiwork of this eternal God. It's awe-inspiring.

I totally recommend the book "the Gospel in Ecclesiastes" by Phillip Ryken. It discusses the themes of the book while offering a Christological perspective! One of my fav books that I read this year!

Amen. As I heard it said, "God loves those He saves and God saves those He loves"!

Indeed. The book of John has got to be the best book of the Bible because in it John explains salvation and how we obtain it. There's also that verse in John 10 where Jesus explains that none can snatch believers out of his hand. That verse is a favorite of many too. The book of John is just fantastic.

Yeah it's the book of John by far. Although Romans would probably be my second pick. I like how Paul introduces to the Romans salvation and how he explains that we aren't under the law but are under grace. I've read the NT at least 7 times but I haven't read the OT all the way through. I've read part of Psalms. I like Psalm 51. So I guess my third favorite verse would be Psalm 51. Like, all of it. It's really quite beautiful.

You really should read more of the OT. If ind so many wonderful things there. Especially Isaiah. He has a lot of prophecies about Christ. There are a lot of helpful verses like 41:10, 40:31, 43:25.
But, my favorite chapter in Isaiah is 53. Specifically verses 4-5

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Some of verse 4 shows what we did, the rest shows what Christ did for us.
And 5 is all about what Christ did for us.

Other OT books may not be as rich as Isaiah, except for Psalms, but there are many treasures there as well.

i LOVE the Old Testament, and one of the most profound books in it is Isaiah. Especially Isaiah 54. There are other chapters as well about speaking out for and defending those who cannot speak out for or defend themselves.

I've read bits of Isaiah when I finish with the New Testament again (I'm on Luke 12) I'll continue reading the OT from where I left off. I left off on 2nd Samuel I believe. Or I'll just skip straight to Psalms and Isaiah and all of the good parts of the OT. Idk yet.

I think you will find the OT more enjoyable when you start seeing pictures of Christ in it.

After Jesus' resurrection, when He was on the road to Emmaus with the 2 disciples He showed them Himself in the OT beginning with Moses.
In 1 Samuel 17 is a great picture.
David cutting of Goliath's head is a picture of Christ defeating Satan.

Indeed Christ is apparently all over the OT too. So I heard anyway. Isaiah apparently talked about him a lot too.

Psalms 40:1-3 tells some of my story.
I waited patiently for the LORD and He heard my cry.
He dragged me out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay (prison and addiction)
He set my feet upon a Rock and and He has established my steps.
He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God, many shall see it and fear the LORD.

God is always waiting for us to come to Him, He is always wooing us to come to Him. Why did I wait till I was at the end of my rope, sitting in a jail cell, to come back to Him?

Another of my favorites is Ephesians 2:12
In Whom (Jesus) we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him.
All because of Jesus Christ we can go to God boldly with confidence.

I forgot to mention that another text corresponding to that is in Isaiah 49:15-16

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
Though she may forget,
I will not forget you!
See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are ever before me."

Nice verse didn't know it existed.
